Holy Moly! There's no way we can finish this! (review with pics) (update WPE and done!)

Great reviews on Chef Mickeys and CHH. The picture of your son with Pluto is the sweetest ever! I love CHH for QS as well. Being from PEI originally, we are picky about our seafood as well and always find CHH does it up well. I tend to more veggie options and love their lighthouse sandwich.

Great reviews so far! Looking forward to the rest!

We are staying at POP for part of our October trip. Thinking of trying the tie dye cheesecake again! I haven't had one since they changed it from its original form!

Tusker House - breakfast (technically)

So we arrived on time for our reservation which was at 10:30 so I was thinking we'd have plenty of time for breakfast options. We ended up having to wait till 10:55 before we were seated. I knew I would eat lunch options but I quickly sent Doug to get his plate and got Kirill his. The food was decent. Doug had eggs, pancakes, bacon. Kirill had a hard boiled egg which he loves and was hard to find on property, sausage, and the lady made a bunch of tater tots special for him because they changed just as I got to the tots. I tried the mealie pap thinking it was like cream of wheat so added chutney and brown sugar...oops. Didn't realize mealie pap is meant to be savory. I also tried some pastries which were nice, the mac and cheese which again had a nice creamy sauce, and I LOVED the plantains. I ate so many of these. Sorry for this picture...I'd eaten the mac and cheese when I remembered the picture. We tried the jungle juice which was delicious. I had about 4 glasses of it. Kirill and Doug had tea.

Character interaction was not great here. I think communication got mixed up as we saw Goofy and Daisy 3 times and Donald and Mickey kept rotating on the other side of the room. We asked our server if we were supposed to meet everyone and she said yes so we explained that we had been there for 45 min and Donald and Mickey had not even come into our room. She said it would be taken care of asap and went to speak with someone. 2 minutes later 2 managers escorted Donald and Goofy straight to our table and Kirill got his pictures. We noticed the manager speaking with the handler after and they did not look happy about the missed rotation.
I would return to Tusker House again as it was a good variety of food. Doug got his plate full of his simple foods and I got to try some new things. The boiled egg was a plus for Kirill.

Up next: Restaurantosaurus and more credit combining :)

Wow, interesting to see a positive review of Chef Mickey! I'm glad you enjoyed your meal there. We LOVE CHH and the lighthouse sandwich is what I always get!! I think it's the best tuna anywhere in Disney.
Sorry the character interaction at TH was a little off but glad you enjoyed the food, it's been a few years since we've been but we always liked it :)

First I am excited to see someone named Lesley (spelled the same way) I have never "met" anyone who does. lol

Next. We loved chef mickeys when we went last year. The character interaction was awesome and I liked most of the food. We stayed at POP and I did not try the cheesecake so I am going to make a note to try it next year when we go. We also ate at CHH that was a stumble upon and I loved it and cant wait to go back. I like seeing good reviews about past places. We are going to try for a Tusker house breakfast next year. I am glad you reviewed that.

I did not know you could sub drinks for sides or anything like that. We are doing the dining plan again next year and I am enjoying the tips.
look forward to more.

Since everyone is bringing up the cheesecake I just wanted to add that I was very pleasantly surprised by it. I thought it would be very heavy cream cheese tasting and it would take me days to eat it because I can only handle a couple of bites of cheesecake at a time. I was trying it because it looked cool and having spare credits, I wouldn't feel bad pitching it if it was gross. I devoured it. It's not a lemony flavor per se, just a very slight hint of lemon juice lightens the cake up.

ok one more review tonight...

Restaurantosaurus

So after a full afternoon at Animal Kingdom we had decided not to stick around for the evening show or Tree of Life light up. Basically we had to choose between getting Lion King and Finding Nemo in or the night show and we picked the former for Kirill's sake. After our early lunch/late breakfast we were in Dinoland as our last stop and I'd chosen Restaurantosaurus for an early supper and heading back to the resort for a swim. So about 4:30 we walked in. The place was empty except for one table. To our tradition, Kirill and Doug got condiments and a table while I did the ordering.

We used 2 credits and got:
chicken nugget meal with fries and drink and changed the dessert credit for a second drink
burger meal with fries and drink and changed the dessert credit. (I asked for the chili cheese fries but their system will not put it in that way even though it's listed as a snack credit. If I ordered chili cheese fries straight up it goes as another entree. Completely stupid.) What the kind girl did on the ordering part was get a second side of fries in place of dessert and then put a side of chili and a side of cheese sauce on the tray so I got my chili cheese fries...I just had to assemble them myself.

What I didn't realize was the topping bar here! I knew there was one at Pecos Bill's but had never realized there was one here. I could have made a salad off the topping bar alone. Doug being plain Doug obviously didn't appreciate this and kept his burger as it. I dressed up my chili cheese fries with onions, mushrooms, and guacamole. Reflecting back I wish I'd added lettuce and tomatoes. So Kirill ate 4 nuggets and some fries and had apple juice. I had the chili cheese goodness and a couple of nuggets, Doug had his burger, fries, and the other 2 nuggets. We both had fountain drinks. Some nice flavoured ice teas here as well.
When we were finished I used a snack credit to get an iced coffee which was very refreshing as we headed out of the park. I had been planning on a fun drink in Asia but couldn't find the place when we were in Asia and this was where Kirill had his one major meltdown of the trip so we had to take a time out to get his settled and my drink was put on hold. I love the exchanging of dessert credits at CS. A lot of the desserts are not great and it allows us to share meals and everyone can have a drink.

We loved Tusker house when we went. I loved the Jungle Juice too.
We were lucky and had good character interaction. It was my birthday too, I had free cake fro breakfast!

Sorry for the delay! I knew the first week of school would be difficult. I'll try to get my review done over the next few week-ends.

So the 26th of August was our relax day. We had originally thought we would get up and swim then head to Disney Springs. We ended up sleeping in until 10:00 and then lazed in the room until 11:00. We then got on the bus for Disney Springs and arrived right on time for an early lunch. I chose Cooke's of Dublin as DH loved the fish and chips from Raglan Road and we knew they would cooked similar to how we cook our fish and chips here. I also like the location with the new bus stop that we wouldn't have to walk far to get there.

So we went and placed our order. The Disney Springs restaurants have for the most part signed up for DDP but they do have some limitations and the portions are smaller compared to the parks. We used 3 credits this time. Doug got the Fish and chips which is a 1-piece fish. It is a fairly large piece but for sure a lunch and would have been a very small supper. The portion of chips was again good for lunch but smaller than other CS. Doug easily finished his fries and mine. I got the shrimp skewer with chips. Kirill got the children's chicken tenders and chips.

241.JPG
They would not allow him to order from the adult menu which was the first time we encountered this. Not a big deal since the chicken tender was a lovely full chicken breast battered and fried. Very fresh tasting and juicy. He ate it all and almost all his chips.
242.JPG
This is Doug's fish and chips. Again very fresh and tasty and good lunch portion but he would have needed a second piece of fish if it was supper.
243.JPG
The shrimp was 2 skewers with lots of good sized shrimp. They were very fresh and I ate them all. This was a good portion size for me for lunch or dinner but others may find it small. Doug finished my fries. I loved the option of seafood sauce or tartar sauce. (I went with seafood). The fry was nice and crispy. No sogginess at all.

They had some different options for drinks. Kirill had fruit punch for a change and I had pink lemonade which was refreshing. Doug stuck to his diet coke.

When it came time for dessert, they did not allow for substitutions. We had been hoping to change desserts for some onion rings or fry dip. Alas, twas not to be. We could have a cookie, soft serve ice cream or a parfait from the case. We all had ice cream to go (1 vanilla, 1 chocolate, and 1 twist). We enjoyed the ice cream as we headed to Marketplace to do some shopping.

We all really liked this meal and I would certainly return again for the quality and freshness of food. Knowing they don't do substitutions, would adjust my expectations.

Up next: Splitsville for supper

So in the afternoon we strolled over the Marketplace for some shopping. (I don't do the actual retail stores...just my Disney stores) We hit World of Disney, Mickey's Pantry, Co-Op Marketplace, Lego Store, and Once Upon a Toy. Kirill then cooled down in the Splash area while Doug and I sat on a bench and relaxed with a slushie and Diet Coke.
266.JPG
It was just as well he was already wet because the typical thundershower hit at 4:00. We all got wet then but thankfully it didn't last long. By the time we walked to Splitsville we were dry again.

We chose Splitsville for several reasons. It had received a positive review from this board. It had a menu that both Doug and Kirill would like. It was a chance for me to have sushi without taking them to a Japanese restaurant where they would struggle with the menu. Planet Hollywood was not open. It was on DDP. Any of the more specialized restaurants did not appeal to my family. So there we were.
We were sat immediately and had a great server. He consistently refilled our drinks and really paid attention to Kirill.

Doug chose the pepperoni pizza and decided he wanted a beer. It was impressive coming out!
285.JPG 287.JPG
This was a large pizza! Easily shareable but he managed to put it all away. He thought it was fresh and tasty and reminded him of our favorite restaurant while we were in Kazakhstan getting Kirill. He loved the beer!

Kirill had the children's pasta with no sauce.
289.JPG
He finished the bowl! Our server brought him a 2nd juice at no charge which was very nice.

I had the volcano roll.
288.JPG
The spicy Krab was all piled on top when it was presented. I can't handle too much spice so between the siracha and the spicy mayo drizzles, that was enough for me so I took the Krab off. The sushi was really good. Nice and fresh. It had tempura shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese inside. I finished it all. We were all too full for dessert so our server suggested we get them to go. Doug and Kirill had brownies without the ice cream and I had a root beer float which hit the spot. The brownies went back to the room and were eaten later that night and the next day. The float made it to the bus stop. After supper, we did our Westside shopping (United World Soccer, Candy Cauldron, Super Heroes). We then debated going to see Pete's Dragon or swimming so we gave Kirill the choice and he picked swimming. It was the right call for sure as we went back had a lovely time swimming and were in bed by 8:00.

The slower paced day was nice.

Up next: Hollywood Studios and Mama Melrose Fantasmic package.

Cooke's looks delicious! Weird that they would not let you substitute as I thought that was now a DDP-wide policy. Great pictures and reviews!
