So in the afternoon we strolled over the Marketplace for some shopping. (I don't do the actual retail stores...just my Disney stores) We hit World of Disney, Mickey's Pantry, Co-Op Marketplace,
Lego Store, and Once Upon a Toy. Kirill then cooled down in the Splash area while Doug and I sat on a bench and relaxed with a slushie and Diet Coke.
It was just as well he was already wet because the typical thundershower hit at 4:00. We all got wet then but thankfully it didn't last long. By the time we walked to Splitsville we were dry again.
We chose Splitsville for several reasons. It had received a positive review from this board. It had a menu that both Doug and Kirill would like. It was a chance for me to have sushi without taking them to a Japanese restaurant where they would struggle with the menu. Planet Hollywood was not open. It was on
DDP. Any of the more specialized restaurants did not appeal to my family. So there we were.
We were sat immediately and had a great server. He consistently refilled our drinks and really paid attention to Kirill.
Doug chose the pepperoni pizza and decided he wanted a beer. It was impressive coming out!
This was a large pizza! Easily shareable but he managed to put it all away. He thought it was fresh and tasty and reminded him of our favorite restaurant while we were in Kazakhstan getting Kirill. He loved the beer!
Kirill had the children's pasta with no sauce.
He finished the bowl! Our server brought him a 2nd juice at no charge which was very nice.
I had the volcano roll.
The spicy Krab was all piled on top when it was presented. I can't handle too much spice so between the siracha and the spicy mayo drizzles, that was enough for me so I took the Krab off. The sushi was really good. Nice and fresh. It had tempura shrimp, avocado, and cream cheese inside. I finished it all. We were all too full for dessert so our server suggested we get them to go. Doug and Kirill had brownies without the ice cream and I had a root beer float which hit the spot. The brownies went back to the room and were eaten later that night and the next day. The float made it to the bus stop. After supper, we did our Westside shopping (United World Soccer, Candy Cauldron, Super Heroes). We then debated going to see Pete's Dragon or swimming so we gave Kirill the choice and he picked swimming. It was the right call for sure as we went back had a lovely time swimming and were in bed by 8:00.
The slower paced day was nice.
Up next: Hollywood Studios and Mama Melrose Fantasmic package.
