I need input from my fellow DISers about the procedure to bring a service dog on board a ship, specifically the paperwork needed to be filled out, timing of paperwork, sending paperwork to DCL or Bahamas, etc.

Background: We are sailing on the Disney Magic on 2/3/14 (35 days from today) with our DD and her family, including our DGS's diabetic service dog. My DD and I have been told about necessary procedure from DCL special services, but we did not receive the same information. I was told that a month prior to boarding, we needed to forward paperwork, including certificate from the vet, so that DCL can forward info to the Bahamas. DD was told to submit the paperwork up to two weeks before sail date. Today, DCL told her that it is her responsibility to get paperwork to Bahamas and that our window of time is now not enough time. :confused3

Please let me know your experience with this. Service dog needs to be on board with us! I appreciate all advice/suggestions/help, etc.

Thanks! Fielder the Super Dog thanks you, too! :thanks:

I just wanted to say hi and I hope someone with experience will post and save the day! Fielder needs to go!!

If you don't get info ASAP there was a DISer who posted in the trip reports about his service dog and Pluto - perhaps you could message him. Let me know if you can't find the thread.

Did you already submit your Special Services Information form?

Heather, I will look for that trip report. I know that Pluto/service dog interaction was on the Fantasy during Thanksgiving week.

Miss you, Heather!

Jumping on this out of my own curiosity. I have raised three Guide Dog puppies and just wonder how and where do your dogs do their business on the ship? I assume Deck 4, but how do they handle the "waste?"

On our WBTA cruise the "potty" was on the promenade deck:

A CM periodically cleans it up. I figure they hand the waste the same way they handle the waste from the diaper genies in the rooms - incinerator.

I like the "keep off the grass" sign.
