Have you ever ordered from Dell and had a backorder?

    I ordered a camcorder on sale earlier this week. When I checked the status, it said it was on backorder, but would ship today, 6/21. I looked again today, and the status now says it is backordered until 6/28. I am wondering if ayone who has ordered from Dell in the past can tell me if they will just continue backordering my camcorder every week, or if I should expect it soon? I can't find a customer service number for order status that is not automated.

    I ordered a camera from Dell a couple of months ago.. it said it was backordered for about 4 weeks but they ended up shipping it much sooner. Good luck!

    I ordered a camera a couple weeks ago and it was backordered - ended up being shipped at about the halfway mark between when I ordered and when they expected it to be available.

    One thing I've heard is that if you call Dell and ask them about it, often they'll upgrade your shipping so it'll get to you quicker once in stock. I've never tried it, but I've read on other boards that a lot of people have success if they nicely complain/question the rep on the phone, seem mildly disappointed that you're not getting it as soon as you'd hoped.
