Do u have to call to book a hard ticket event or can you do it online?
You have to call. They don't book the events online. (407) WDW-FEST is the number the foodies use when calling. It's just an alternate extension of WDW-DINE.
These events can get pricey. Some of them are Victoria and Albert's expensive. Check out the dedicated sticky thread on the top of the main Restaurants forum. The moderator keeping the thread updates the first post when new information gets released.

I'm doing my own International Food and Wine Fest...on a smaller scale. And inside the countries represented. I think I can sacrifice the Epcot festival just this once.
But I wish I was going because I'll miss seeing you guys!

Do u happen to know the actual numbers to WDW-DINE..i have a blackberry and the numbers on the keypad do not correspond to letters. which is quite frustrating sometimes
The only one of these "Hard Ticketed" events I've done at Food & Wine was a "Wine School" lecture by Karen MacNeil back in 2008. I thought it was fantastic, and well worth the $150 or so we paid per ticket. I was hoping to attend another seminar this time down, but they are apparently only doing Wine School seminars on Sundays this year (which seems silly to me), and that's when we are heading home. Too bad.

If you Dial the letters while holding down the ALT button, the letters will dial as the corresponding number on the dialpad.

I originally read this as Nancy saying that "there is nothing like the real Food and Wine Festival"....hence my response.
After I walked away...I realized that she meant that there was nothing like going to the original countries. Duh!

You possibly can book events online other than just the festival center deminars this year. I will post about it in a little while when I have time and a normal keyboard.

Bwahahahaha! If that's not a tag fairy line, I don't know what is! At least you didn't say "excuse me" to a statue of a guy taking a photo. Just sayin'. Still, I did get my entertainment value from the exchanges.

I saw a lot of activity on the sticky thread for the Food and Wine Festival on the Restaurants board. I'll link to some of the more interesting changes.
Let me start by saying that a couple years ago, the only things we were able to book online were the Festival Center food and wine deminar tickets. Advance purchase was (and presumably still is) non-refundable, but those who are annual passholders, Tables in Wonderland card holders, and DVC members were able to get a couple dollars in discount based on limited availability.
None of the special events like Party for the Senses, Culinary Adventures in Food and Wine signature dinner events, French Regional Lunch, etc...none of those were able to book online. We all had to do the 7am phone call.
However, the Disney Food Blog has been busy posting updated information about some new events and changes that appear to be taking place for bookings.

The parts that interested me dwelled on that the discounts for deminars seem to be for Mon-Thurs only. I believe they changed this because the weekends are usually the "headliner" chefs.

Culinary demos and beverage seminars as well as special events will be available through online booking again this year, and will open August 16th. Sweet Seats and Wine View Lounge tickets must be purchased by phone.
The fact they mentioned special events leads me to believe we can book them online for the first time ever. But they say that the VIP upcharge seating for the 3D Dessert Discovery (Sweet Seats) and Party for the Senses (Wine View Lounge) still must be booked by phone.
