Anyone want to share some good stories from New Orleans? Here's one: Kenner, LA is a suburb of New Orleans. For those of you that have flown out of New Orleans you are in Kenner when you exit I-10 to go to the airport. Mayor Philip L. Capitano was just on TV. Boy does he have a handle on what he is doing. They were able to get people to their pumping stations to keep them working so they got the water out right away. About 90% of Kenner was under water. They showed big plows out in the streets getting rid of the debris. He said Walmart has been keeping them all supplied with water and the equivalent of MREs. There's a big Walmart and a Sam's in Kenner. There is even power in a small part of Kenner but no water yet. The mayor said he did not want people coming back until they have water. I met several people from Kenner recently including Mayor Capitano. I thought he was a very nice man, but now I am impressed with his handling of this mess. Kenner has a few areas with very, very nice homes, but it has it's share of low income families also. The population is about 70,000.
