I just made a last minute reservation for December 6-10th. It's for my birthday and I couldn't resist the JetBlue airline prices... $49 one way!!

Every 2 BR is booked solid except for OKW. I am on the waiting list for BW, BC, and SSR. I'm not holding out any hope though. Psych me up for OKW! I almost didn't make any ressie at all when I could only get OKW...what do I have against it? I have no idea..I'm sure it's fabulous.

How are the Christmas decorations there?

I think that the XMas decorations at OKW are great! OKW is one of my favorite resorts. It's so nice and relaxing:D You'll have a great time there! It's just nice to get away to FL in Dec., especially if you're from a colder climate. OKW has a nice, tropical feel to it IMHO.

Not to worry about OKW. Consider yourself fortunate to be at such a beautiful resort and the 2 BR will knock your eyes out. We will be there the week before for five nights in a 2 BR. As an OKW owner we are biased. Never have paid much attention to the Christmas decorations there although there are some but they don't overwhelm. From that standpoint I think WL would win hands down. The lobby at BWV is very nice. GF is nice also with a large gingerbread hoiuse. Also take the boat from OKW to DD. That is decorated very nice during the holidays.
We always have our car and don't worry about walking to parks. We do drive to the GF, WL and BWV and take in the sights. Always happy to return to OKW. We are not hotel fanatics.
Most folks that stay at OKW and use the busses don't complain.
You will have a great trip. Enjoy.

you got a 2-bedroom anywhere in Dec at this late date - WOW!!!!

I am definitely impressed - I didn't think it was possible....

the 2-bedroom (really the 1-bedroom) is so much bigger than the other resorts - well - you have to see to believe it - I think you will love OKW. You can really relax here.

remember you can walk/boat/bus to DD.

all theme parks/water parks transportation is by bus.

there are several pools on property - so you are never far from a pool.

the laundry room has a FULL size washer and dryer - the whirlpool tub is alot bigger too.... the kitchen is so much bigger - of course this can be a problem too - the balcony is big enough to actually eat on......you will find reason to eat on the balcony....

believe me you will love OKW. remember to eat once at Olivia's.

OKW is our favorite resort as well. Our style of vacationing is laid back rather than active and action packed.

As lovely as OKW is...it is quite different than the other WDW DVC resorts. OKW doesn't have a compact central location hotel feel like BWV and BCV have. It doesn't have the variety of restaurants or level of activity BWV and BCV have. I can't imagine anyone would be dissatisfied with the resort...especially with it's pastel florida theming, beautiful interior details and spacious living area with large balcony. It is NOT like the other resorts and I'm grateful there is such a variety of resorts for all tastes.

Consider taking your own decorations with you. We take miniature string lights to decorate the balcony. You'll find other families do this and with the outside outlet it's quite easy to set up.

Don't be surprised if it starts feeling like home rather than a hotel.

    Travel safe.

See THIS THREAD to check it out! It is looking like late afternoon at SSR food court for the meet.

The two bedroom at OKW is 1410 square feet, while the other places have only 1083. The one bedroom at OKW is the size of 2 bedrooms at the other places. The main pool will be closed during the time you are there, but there are 3 other pools at OKW and that time of year swimming is a little iffy anyway. You will love the place. The two bedrooms all have nice views. you will not believe the size of the living room area and the windows that wrap half way arond the living room. The two bedroom at OKW is a real two bedroom also, not a one bedroom with a lock-off, I am assuming you asked for a 2 bedroom. You will quickly realize why most who own at OKW don't want to stay anywhere else at WDW.

When you walk toward the main lobby under those ceiling fans there's something about the place that melts away tension. You're tucked away from the crowds in a beautifully landscaped resort.

You've got breathing room. It has a true Home Away from Home feel -- in my opinion more so than the other resorts. Also a Home Away from All the Crowds feel.

I couldn't believe the $49 myself when I saw the ad this morning! Heck that's takeout for the family.

OKW in December will be a real treat!

Hmm, an opening in early December. The wheels are working now. DH better be prepared for some pleading when he gets home. That meet on the 6th is especially appealing. How do wait lists at multiple resorts work? If I waitlist at 2 resorts, and one of them comes through, will they automatically take me off the other 1? Thinking of wait listing at both BWV and BCV, but BCV is really my first choice. If BWV comes through, will they automatically remove me from the waitlist at BCV?
Oh, well-I'm probably dreaming-DH is HIGHLY unlikely to go for it.

We spent our first Christmas at WDW at OKW this past year in an OKW 2 bedroom. It was wonderful. We ordered our meal from Publix and it was great to be in the villa, not cooking from scratch, but having a good holiday meal with leftovers.

The holiday decorations at OKW are not really that eye catching. They are subdued, muted pastel tones of garlands, etc. that match the decor of the resort. Anything really bright red would kind of clash. Do your holiday decoration viewing at the other resorts and then head back to OKW for a relaxing evening. Take your own decorations with you--a small tree, some tabletop decorations, etc., a wreath for the door, and you will be right in the spirit.

I don't think you will be sorry you stayed at OKW. It is my favorite resort, and we also own at BCV and SSR and have stayed at all of the WDW DVC properties, including SSR, and OKW is still my favorite.

    Pam,
It sounds great! Yes, I asked for a 2 bedroom. Are they all dedicated 2 bedrooms or do I have to request that specifically. The boys certainly don't need their own outside access!

you probably need to call back and ask for it.

If your reservation doesn't say anything - it is probably dedicated.

If your reservation say lock-out - then you definitely need to call.
