Exactly! There is so much wrong doing here, it could make your head spin! I think you need legal representation.
Bad enough the doctor is unethical, but HR too? Is there a higher up, facility supervisor you can speak to about this? It's beyond crazy!
Good luck with all of this! Take care of yourself and the baby. I do recommend you jot down all the events, people's names, dates,times. You will have pregnancy brain and recall of those things go out the window. Keep it handy. I think you will need it. Keep good documentation.
Then watch a light hearted show and get your mind off this mess awhile. You need some good rest!

Are your feelings and anger and frustration justified.. YES!!!!!
However, this should have nothing to do with whether she is fired or not.
Whomever is in charge of these things should determine, on their own, if she committed offenses which would warrant termination.
(She may have even been trying to play more headgames if she said that HR told her 'it is up to you'.)

But I am not sure that wreckless driving, alone, would meet policy for Termination. That is for HR to figure out. I am sure they are already well aware that this lame person will be the first to pursue litigation for 'wrongful termination'. SUCKS!!!!
I think the Dr. told the OP that HR said that, I don't believe HR directly told the OP that, and I seriously doubt that the Dr. is being truthful regarding that.
PS: I suspect that one reason that she failed to report right away, is that would have revealed that she was 'UNDER THE INFLUENCE'.
That would certainly be a very valid reason for termination.
And, huge problems for her if she is already on record with prior incidents/convictions.
Doctors are not immune to problems with alcohol and the drugs that they have such access too.

A normal, unaffected, person just does not drive/behave this way!!!!!
And incidentally, I "got someone fired" when I was pregnant with my older dd.
DH and I were living in an apartment at the time. One night I walked into our bathroom and discovered a small amount of water dripping from the ceiling. It was obviously leaking from the apartment above ours.
The next day the leak was worse. When we called the building superintendant, we got the brush-off from his wife. We left a nessage on the answering machine, which was ignored.
This went on for several days. The leak got worse, the entire ceiling was wet and looked like it was about to collapse. The super kept ignoring us.
Finally I called the landlord's rental agent. The agent made sure the problem was fixed - the drain pipes in my neighbor's bathtub had cracked, so every time they showered the water drained into my ceiling.
I found out a few days later that the super was fired. What I didn't know -- he'd been fired before but was reinstated because his union went to bat for him.
I felt bad, but he did it to himself.

OP, I am so sorry!! And I know pregnancy doesn't help matters. However, just as a note (I read through the thread and didn't see anyone mention it):
You will not be responsible for your deductible. The doctor is the one who has to pay it (well, her insurance company). What may happen is that your insurance company will pay it and then go after her....that's what happened in my last accident (I seem to be a magnet for them).
I hope your mental and emotional recovery is ok. Also, if you are worried about being accosted by her again, ask security to walk you to your car. You have every right to request this service.
I would def. NOT assume that anything that comes from this woman's mouth has one tiny iota of truth to it.

I would give it much consideration, and proceed with caution before mentioning this comment/situation to HR, however.
One never knows how these things will go. Who has who's back. Etc...
It is already clear that I would have NO respect for HR, as they tried to tell you not to take this kind of situation and property damage to the police.
Not true in my state, either. Leaving the scene of an accident with property damage is a misdemeanor, with possible penalties including up to one year of jail time and fines up to $5,000. It becomes a felony when leaving the scene of an accident where someone is injured or killed.
No differentiation is made as to private property or public roadway.

Now that everything is being handled by the insurance companies, and possibly the HR department...
You really need to let these things work for you.
I would really want to have NO further personal dealings with her, or anybody else at the company.
Except for cooperating with your insurance... providing info... signing claims... etc... your personal involvement should be over.
To those that have asked, I was worried about the deductible before we knew who did it. When it was just a hit & run, we were going to have to come up with that.
HR is not the one who told me it was up to me if she got fired, SHE told me that hr told HER that.
HR is not responding to any of my messages or calling me back. My husband wants to call a lawyer.
I really want to call in sick tomorrow. I just don't want to deal with all the stress.
Also the rental I got is very hard to get in and out of while this pregnant. I miss my suv.
There's no doubt about it, and I suspect she would be outraged (as she would have every right to be).
Correct, it will now be a wrecked car, and that will show up on the carfax when you get ready to sell it.
Nor would I. She obviously considered herself pretty far above the "lower classes". Her behavior was despicable.
OP, generally a consultation doesn't cost anything. It might be worthwhile to visit with an attorney.
Honestly, I wouldn't tell HR to fire her, that sounds like revenge to me.
But I would let the police and HR handle it and if she gets fired as a result then that is just a consequence of her actions.
I'm really sorry this happened to you and I'm glad you weren't sitting in the vehicle when she hit it!
YES, again, you should not, and really must not, engage with this woman. If you do feel uneasy, threatened, etc... At the very least, have somebody else accompany you whenever possible...
Be like politicians and lawyers, etc...
A very simple and very direct...

I'm sorry this happened to you OP.
This isn't a small scratch the doctor caused. This is major car damage to not one, but 2 cars. She left the scene of an accident that likely caused thousands of dollars in damage on hospital property. Sounds like grounds for immediate termination to me. I would be livid, and i thought leaving the scene of an accident was a crime, not just some questionable unethical behavior.
I hope you can get through this with some peace of mind. I think I might seek legal counsel for advice. If the doctor has enough standing to not be fired for this, I would actually question whether my position in the hospital was safe. I mean, who does she know that could make things sticky for me. I've seen too many situations turn around (in the wrong way) quickly. You'd be surprised. Document, document, document, and cover yourself. Good luck!
Is this a big company, with the HR department at a completely different location?
Just to be specific, what do you expect of the HR department?
What messages have you left with them.
Of course, they will not, and should not, disclose any information that is private to this other woman. They do not have to inform you of anything regarding that.
Have you asked or informed them about this woman's "don't get me fired, they said it is up to you", claims????
Again, they should acknowledge your situation, but have to disclose NOTHING about how they are handling this with her.
Unless things escalate, and she is continuing to create a hostile work envronment for you, if you go and say 'I want her fired', it will NOT look good on you.

HR is avoiding you now??? You have got to be kidding me. By all means, visit with a lawyer to make sure you proceed correctly (and have legal back up if you need it).
So, this is a medical doctor, responsible for people's lives? I would avoid contact with her, document everything, and consider contacting the state medical board regarding her unethical behavior.
I think your husband is right about contacting a lawyer.
FD, I'm so sorry you are going through this. Document, document, document. HR has a "boss" too. The fact that they are not responding to your calls is not good. I have a feeling that you're going to be on their radar once this is over. I would contact the Administrator of the hospital at this point. I would also consult an Attorney ASAP. The longer you "sit" on this, the more time they have to allow for "things" to disappear
Please go see your OB and get all your stress documented. That will come into play in the future if you suffer further from emotional distress!
