Fuel Rods for recharging phones

They're $20 if you can find a different location (they're in airports as well). Great idea though.

Or $25 (incl shipping) at their website.

As wdwmagic points out, they're a pretty good deal if you have multiple people in your group with phones:

But for a single user, it would be significantly cheaper to purchase one of the many USB charging devices that retail for around $10, and ensure it is charged in the hotel before heading to the parks.

While they're great for convenience - like all things Disney they're overpriced
Here's a roughly equivalent model for $10 from amazon

You're far better off (like buying film in ye olden dayes) buying a battery pack ahead of time. I bought a large battery pack for $50 several years back (can charge a phone several times on one charge) and have been using it for years now.

Can't forget the convenience factor though. Just keep it in a pocket in your backpack or purse. Don't need to remove it to recharge it because you just swap the one you have for a charged one.

I've brought extra batteries before and the price is great, but it's totally useless if you leave it plugged into the wall in your room charging, or find it on the table uncharged where you meant to plug it in overnight but forgot.

It seems like a good idea when you're in a bind, but I have a portable charger that was about $35 that we can get 6 charges out of. We just plug it in every night and take it with us when we go.

What brand do you have, I need to get one for my upcoming trip and yours sounds like a good one to have!

Yep, there are cheaper/better/more powerful versions available for sale elsewhere.

But these WILL have a market at the parks -- those who a) don't think to buy a charger ahead of time, and b) even if they HAVE a charger, they don't think or remember to charge it in the room overnight!

Good for Disney for capitalizing on this opportunity!

It is cool that you can trade an empty one in for a charged one for no additional cost. It's a bit of a premium, but that's to be expected. I like the concept for sure, though I already carry my own anyway.

Maybe they could cut down on the cost if you could choose which cable type you need. It sounds like it gives you three options no matter what. I have no need for iPhone ones.

Good idea to rope in unprepared guests. Pay $30 for a $5 charger. This is why it's wise to get a good portable charger off eBay or Amazon ahead of time. You can get more charges for 1/3 the price vs this one.

It's about 2500mah to charge an iPhone from dead to 100% battery. You can find plenty of 10,000mah chargers for less than $20. More mah the charger, the more charges you can get before having to recharge the portable charger

The swapability is what's unique. I can go through two or three charges on my phone for a full day in the parks, but I don't want to have to carry a brick with me that can do that. Being able to swap at airports that have them too is a bonus.

I got one at the start of the month, and as a WDW pass holder, I sure plan on getting good use out of it. The charger seems pretty reliable, but I think it provide a slower and more limited charge; I found myself replacing it more frequently than expected. That said, I would still recommend it!

if you have children and they found pokemon go.. that game chews your battery.. Being able to swap this stick for a fully charged one is little pretty attractive right now...

You can get a powerbank from Target or FiveBelow for $5. I'm actually surprised that I've been using my phone quite a bit in the parks and haven't needed to recharge.

I have an Anker charger, will charge two iPhones at least twice each and charges quickly

I got three from Amazon (bought with codes from a discount site that requires reviews for good deals) and I paid maybe $5 total for all 3. I got a very small one that holds 2 charges and then 2 others that hold significantly more charges. Funny thing is I only needed them in the car when driving from home to Disney. Never in the parks probably bc we took breaks and I just charged up then.
