I am a bit confused as to whether there is a frig in the inside staterooms. Seems like it would be nice to be able to keep milk or sodas cold. Is there an ice bucket?

Do you tip each time they bring room service? Or is that covered by your larger tip charge?

    Thanks,
Excited to leave Galveston for Halloween!

The fridge in the room is really a "beverage cooler". It worked for chilling wine over a long period, but I thought the milk seemed too warm, and didn't want to chance it, so I ended up throwing out an extra milk we got from room service.
I think it would be OK to keep fruit or soda, just not dairy.

We tipped depending on how much we were getting from room service. It's a good idea to have singles on hand.

The gratuity that you pay at the end of your cruise really only covers the wait staff/head server/room host. Another good thing to know is if you order alcohol up on the deck or at one of the bars, they will have already included a gratuity in there.

We didn't think that the Beverage Cooler on the Magic kept anything THAT cold, and it definitely struggled to actually chill something that was already warm. You can ask your Stateroom Host to bring ice for your icebucket :goodvibes

It depends on the ship. The Dream and Fantasy have real fridges. The Wonder has cooling boxes. The Magic is mostly cooling boxes, however some of the rooms have already had fridges replacing the cooling box.

About the cooling box, some of the are just that - cool. It helps to put the ice bucket (or a bag of ice) in it. Some of the cooling boxes actually do keep things cold. We've both types.

Well, *that's* good news! I could've sworn I read somewhere that the Fantasy was getting the same old cooler thing, but I'm happy to be wrong since we'll be sailing on the Fantasy in August. I hated having to throw away an unopened carton of milk just because I wasn't sure if it had been kept cold enough!

They don't have freezer compartments, do they?

Is there a way of finding out if a particular room has a box or fridge?

DH was looking into bringing case of beer on board, I really don't want to have an extra piece of luggage in the room due to space.

I'm trying to keep things small and compact as we are in an inside room on the Magic.
Quad for 4 will be limiting i'm sure.

I'm thinking it just might pay to buy the Beer Mug and get refills, depending on what draft beer is available, if he likes it.

I don't think so. Unless, you were to ask here and MAYBE someone who's been in that room could tell you.

You'd be better off chilling a few at a time in an ice bucket.

One thing that helps the cooler fridges stay a bit cooler is to keep the door to the cabinet that it sits in, open. It lets the warm air from the motor escape the cabinet.
