Food & Wine Extravaganza! Oct 2010 PTR...including BONUS Dec 2010 PTR!

Wow! Everything sounds so cool this year! I wish I was going, but I think we're going to have to make it an every other year thing. Our next trip is tentatively scheduled for Oct 2011. I wonder if the PFTS thing is part of the learning curve and they have figured out that by changing it every week they might lose people. We would have done it last year if we had been there the week after, it was "comfort food" or something like that, but the week we were there was something that didn't appeal to us at all. By making it one menu the entire time, guests who are staying for only one weekend can make a more informed decision.

The CA Festival is mostly populated by locals at least as far as the Wine Dinners and stuff in fact there are a lot of people who just sign up for every one. Those are the people with deep pockets. I had to pick and choose and still we spent too much!

I can definitely see why they did away with the "themes" each week for PFTS, I wouldn't want to go to any that would feature predominantly spicy foods. My biggest thing with PTFS and whether or not to do it is that I'm not a heavy drinker thanks to my migraines. I mean, I have a glass of wine every now and then. Sometimes 2. And I can't drink red wine. It just makes me wonder if it'd be worth the cost.

Thanks for posting all of this info! I can't wait for F&W! :)

I'm so excited and get more excited every time I see more info released!

I thought the same exact thing! :lmao:

:rotfl2: Glad I wasn't the only one!!

Okay...I saw by your post on the CSR thread that you have a PTR going. So here I am...now back to read and catch up on all the news. :)

:wave2: Thanks for joining in! We're staying off property this time around :sad2: It's at Orange Lake, which actually butts right up against the Animal Kingdom property for Disney. Since my Mom, Dad, & I will all have APs and we'll have my parents car, it's not that big of a deal, but still...no hidden Mickeys in my bedspread this time :guilty:

Well, I can always take extra pictures for you when we are there in September (I have a PTR too). Like no one ever take spics of the "Mickey" in the bedspread. ;)

Your line up of ADR's sounds terrific. We're doing Crystal Palace as well; skipping LeCellier this visit and going back to Coral Reef (hubby wanted to go back as it's been 12 years at least).

Woho for all of your news again!!!

We'll be going to Epcot on a Wednesday, so no dessert party for us. I honestly don't know if I'd be able to even do it, anyway. I have a feeling I'll be sick from too much food by the time they'd have time they have the party. Haha.

Mmmm. Fooooodddd. Wine. Mmmm. :lmao:

Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?

You don't mean like this, do you?

:rotfl:

We might change Le Cellier depending on the schedule for F&W. I always forget about Coral Reef, so we haven't been there in ages...if ever.

I'm a little late but I'm here!

Psh, you'd think you were at WDW or something :sad2:
(kidding, hi!)

I'm debating the dessert party. I mean, I'd love it, but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay $50 for dessert.

I'll be following this up with another NEWS post!

Here's some more news: http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2010/05/21/2010-epcot-food-and-wine-festival-new-additions/
Apparently Singapore is going to be added as a kiosk as well! And they have pictures of those passports I mentioned earlier.

I don't know how many of you follow Touring Plans, but they just re-did their crowd calendar. It's a true 1-10 scale now. It also changed some of the recommended parks & parks to avoid. On Sunday I was planning on doing AK because it was a recommended park. Now it's neither a recommended park or a park to avoid. BUT, the day is a "1." So I think we'll stick with the original plan.

And in personal news, we didn't get the puppy we were looking at :sad1: We're heading out tomorrow morning to look at some Malti-poos though! I'm real excited about these. It's from a breeder rather than a rescue, because I'm kind of tired of being interrogated and then rejected just because we don't have a yard. So we'll see what happens. Here's hoping for the best! :thumbsup2

I debated the Wishes dessert party on our last trip for the same reason. I couldn't justify it. DM (who I planned the trip for as a gift) is diabetic, DH has hyperglycemia (spelling? too late to look it up!), and I can't eat a ton of sugar. It just wasn't worth it for us. I don't think DF could've eaten enough to make up for the three of us!

I'm a firm believer that you'll find a puppy when that puppy needs you! We had been talking about getting a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (are you a Sex and the City fan? If so, Charlotte's dog) for years. We priced them out and never found a good deal at a time that we had the extra money to spend. (They're really pricey dogs.)

I ended up at a tradefair a few months back and came across a breeder. This little girl just looked at me like she knew I was her momma, and she came home with us that day. Turns out she had kennel cough, pnemonia, and a ton of other genetic issues with her breathing system. We spent hundreds on her that we weren't planning on spending, but we saved her little life. It's like she knows, too. She looks at us every day (when she's not busy being a crazy 6-month old puppy) with this look of love and adoration that makes it all worth it!

Most of my pets over the years were rescues or bought from breeders that didn't take care of them. My parents have two labs that I bought from a breeder; they're brothers. One of them ended up having a genetic disorder where his joints grew together. So of course, he had to go to a specialist surgeon to have his shoulder joints re-built.

We tell our fur babies all the time that they better love us because no one else would've put up with them. :cloud9:

The Illuminations Dessert Party also includes wine, but I don't drink enough that wine + dessert would ever equal $50!

Thanks for sharing your dog story! I have good news!!

I'd like to introduce Bandit:

He's a Maltipoo and he'll be coming home next Sunday! :yay: I'm super excited. We went on a shopping spree after seeing the puppy at Pet Smart. I think we'll be all set to take him home!

Hi! Joining in on your pre trip fun. I'm gonna be at the world that same week and it's a birthday trip! I'd write a report myself but I always give up half way through lol.

Oh my...what a cutie. Just look at that little face. I love him...he's precious. Congratulations. :woohoo::woohoo:

We're going to be there the same time - Oct 2 - 11. Thanks for all the great links to the F&W info. We're very excited about the new countries, the passports look really cool. We'd love to do the dessert thing, but have to wait to see if the $$ is in the budget. I wish they would have a separate price for non-alcoholic dessert party since I don't drink and we'll have two under 21ers with us. I wonder where they will hold it for the 3D viewing?

I've heard about people talking about Touring Plans, but I haven't ever used them, is it a subscription thing?

Your new puppy is adorable!!What have you decided to name it?

Your puppy is ADORABLE!!! I love maltipoos---congrats Mommy :lovestruc Thank you SO much for the info on the crowds...off to see if December is up yet!

Hello! Well, went on touring plans and it said you have to subscribe to get the calendar dates past this week? Is that true :confused3

Hey I'm just getting caught up with everything!

I get the All Ears newsletters, too so I am REALLY excited about F & W this year! Hopefully I'll be able to maintain SOME self control!

Congrats on your new puppy! We just adopted a shepherd mix back in March. She turned 5 months old on 5/21 and she is out-of-her-mind crazy! Thankfully, she is still small!

Welcome along!! My boyfriend's birthday is 10/10, so right after we get home. We'll definitely be doing some celebrating that week though!

Welcome to the cool crew :cool2: Seems like lots of DISers are going that week!

If you have the Unofficial Guide, they have touring plans in the back of all the books (to be honest, I ignore the actual plan and just look at the first couple rides they recommend.) But the Crowd Calendar is a subscription, right on their website (www.touringplans.com) this is the first year I've subscribed to it, so we'll see how it helps plan! ...Really I got it because I was curious and the Disney Geek in me wanted to see it...

Thanks! He's so cute! They post a whole year and then edit it when the hours are posted.

Yep, if you really want to know the crowd levels, just shoot me a PM with your dates, I'll look it up for you, I don't mind :goodvibes

Aw, I just love puppies! I tried volunteering at a shelter once, but all I wanted to do is take all of them home...it didn't last long.

It sounds to me like Disney really listened to the feedback from last year's F&W (PFTS as an example) so hopefully this year will be great!

Oh my goodness, that is one cute puppy! :goodvibes:lovestruc

Thanks! I can't wait to bring him home!

You are so sweet :goodvibes BUT I gave in and got a subscription :lmao: I had a book, so I got 50% off. For our dates...the numbers are 1-4  It is going to be a GREAT trip! Thanks for the tip!!!

Thanks for the welcome! It seems like you have a great bunch of followers. I'll probably wait till closer to the dates to see if they suggest we change up any of our days, but we're like you in that we only have a couple of MUST DO rides/attractions and if the crowd is too large we'll just skip it this year.
