We are regular WDW visitors and prior to fastpass plus, knew which rides to grab fastpasses for right away. Disneyland is another story and I need some advice. I know there will be varying opinions, but give them all to me! :)

What attraction should you head to first to grab a fastpass? Disneyland? California Adventures? (Other than Radiator Springs Racers)

DL

At DL the BTMRR is not nearly as much in demand for FP as at MK. Not sure why as both rides are much the same. It might be because DL has more thriller rides.

Here is my list...

1. Space Mtn - I usually go for this one first

2. Indiana Jones - I sometimes get this first if we are headed towards that side of the park. Otherwise it is often #2.

3. Splash Mtn - when it is warm out - otherwise slip this down further in priority

4. Star Tours

All of these four are somewhat equally balanced in FP demand unless it is cold then Splash slips down

5 BTMRR has FPs available into the evening.

6. Autopia - It has been a long time since I have gotten at Autopia FP because the FP merge point is so far back in line you still seem to wait 25 minutes to ride even with FP

7. Roger Rabbit has FPs that last all day.

DCA

1. Yes, RSR is the biggie. Make sure you understand that RSR FP is disconnected. Something I never saw at WDW. So get your RSR FP in the first 60-90 minutes or they are gone.

2. Soarin Over CA - The next most important FP to get. Not nearly the demand as at Epcot but still probably the most important FP to get after RSR.

3. GRR - On a hot day FPs are in high demand. Otherwise the demand is low.

4. ToT - Sort of like at DHS, FPs seem to last a long time for this one.

5 CA Screamin - is also disconnected. And even so, it has FPs that last all day and is not that hard to ride. Even the standby line is often 20 minutes mid-day and rarely gets above 30 minutes.

6. Goofy's Sky School - This minimalist roller coaster is a slow loader and can get much longer lines than the top notch CA Screamin. We often skip it. Think Primeval Whirl at AK.

Hydro nailed it like always.

I was going to say the same thing, the above advice is spot on! I have to say I've been to DL more times than I can count and I've never gotten a FP for RSR. They seem to go fast! But we always ride it once or twice a visit, we do it single rider and it works fine even with my 10 yr old twins going single. Almost always we end up with 2 ppl in a car just more likely 1 in front and back seat.

we like going right at closing for RSR and go stand by. That way we don't feel like we are losing time that we could be doing other things since everything is closed. Plus it is a nice walk out of the park after with so few people around.

How long of a wait do you usually have when you do it this way?

One FP you don't have to rush to get is Toy Story Midway Mania. Why? It doesn't exist at California Adventure. The upside is you don't have to race everyone to the FP machine like you do at Hollywood Studios. The bad is that you have to stand in line for this ride. The bummer is that the queue doesn't even come close to the awesome line in Florida.

I also see alot of people say get FP for Indiana Jones. We always go in the winter off season and I've never seen this ride with anything more than a 25 minute line. And that was on a busy Friday afternoon. All the other weekdays, it's a 10 minute wait. But I'm not a regular like so many others.

For our trip in July I have planned to get an Indy FP first, then a Splash FP, then split and get 3 Space FP and 2 Autopia FP at the same time, then get a Star Tours FP for later that night.

For DCA I have planned to ride TSMM first and then get 2 Screamin/WOC/Soarin/and RSR FP-I can have all of those at once?? Then we will get TOT FP and GRR FP after that.

Does my plan sound good?

I agree with Space Mountain first if you arrive in the morning. If you are arriving later in the day, I would not get Space Mountain.

For some reason this FP is highly sought after. If you arrive early, you can get a decent return time and be able to get another FP relatively quickly. The later you go though, the wider the gap in between when you get it and when your return time is which greatly affects your ability to get more FP's.

Yes, you can get all those at once. Your plan sounds good if you are OK with the FP return windows in the morning - fort Soarin and CS.

So there aren't any Fastpasses for Toy Story at all?

I always do toy story first then go collect my RSR fast pass and whatever other fast pass I want then get on with my morning

I don't really care to get a FP for Indiana Jones either but for a different reason - the queue. It's well-designed and interactive and makes the wait time go so much faster. Sometimes I feel like I'm missing out on part of the attraction if I FP that ride.

What is your opinion in getting a fastpass for World of Color? Is it a good idea? At what time would you suggest picking one up?

You need a FP if you want to be in the viewing area. There are other areas outside the viewing area to see the show but they are not ideal spots. You should get a FP early in the day if you want a Blue FP and can wait until afternoon if you prefer Yellow. Check out the WOC superthread. It will help you out a great deal.
