Fav. Mod. Resort for X-mas

    If you could go to WDW at x-mas which mod. resort would you stay at?

    (Still trying to decide if the $600 is worth staying at the WL in Dec. or not. Other option is to stay at a Mod. and fly from TN to FL instead of the usual 10 hr. drive.....)

    We have stayed at CBR for Christmas quite a few times. Christmas Eve they have a nice party outside Old Port Royale. The resort is decorated for the holidays.

    CSR is our fav., but we have never been at xmas. Those pics are beautiful!!

    CSR is my absolute top choice in the moderate category any time of year . . .

    but, honestly, in December, I'd shell out the extra $600 for the Wilderness Lodge in a heartbeat. There is NOTHING that compares to the WL at Christmas. The decorations, the fireplace, the music, etc. It's just jawdroppingly, breathtakingly beautiful. It's THE resort for Christmas, in our opinion.

    We'll be staying at CBR the week after Thanksgiving 2007. It's already been decided and we know we can't afford WL. But is it possible to visit WL and see their decorations?

    Sure! Definately make sure and check it out. If you can swing it, a meal at the Whispering Canyon Cafe is fun and the restaurant is right on the lobby, so there's lots of atmosphere!

    Thanks! Since it's still so far off, we haven't given too much thought to dining, but I'm seeing many mentions of Whispering Canyon, so we may have to check it out.

    CSR! It's incredibly beautiful at the holidays. But if you could swing WL that would be fantastic. I have a question though, when you say 'at Christmas', do you mean literally at Christmas or just in December? I'd like to try POR in December but the weekend we go is always Pop Warner week so we will not stay there. I bet it's very pretty at the holidays though.

    We are going the second week of Dec. I know that I am going with my 3 year old son and not sure if my husband will be able to go yet (work issues)... I like the thought of being close to MK at the WL but was having a hard time justifying the $600 for just the 2 of us (if indeed that is the case). Although, my goal is to have a great vacation and I want things to be easy for me! :sunny:

    I have read that CSR is pretty central to everything... How are the busses from the WL to MGM or Epcot? Is it faster to catch a boat to the Contemporary and then go on the Monorail?
