Hi all, I couldn't seem to find a group for the Jan 7 2017 cruise.
This is our second Disney Cruise, we're from Australia and although it's at least 12 mths away, we are excited to plan our holiday again :)

This is also our second disney cruise and we will be sailing on the January 7th cruise as well! We are from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We were on the Dream for our first cruise and looking forward to checking out the Fantasy!

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine managing meet and Fish Extender discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS). Since not everyone is on Facebook, we want to be sure folks know how to organize the FE the old-fashioned way as well.

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is completely up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM (conversation).

It appears that there is currently no Fish Extender group here on DISboards. For anyone interested in starting one:

Setting up FE group

There's really no "rules" as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private), or directly on the Cruise Meet thread, to confirm everyone on it is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about "anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped" at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as the reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others , but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

A finalised version of the spreadsheet will be released once we reach the cut-off/confirmation date (see below for explanations). We will attempt to keep all participants on one list. However, sometimes, there are just so many cruisers wanting to partake in this magical experience that participants may be divided between two or more lists. In the event of needing two or more lists, we will try to distribute participating cabins and people as evenly as possible.

FE Registration Cut-Off Date
All families must register their interest to join the FE group, by posting a reply with the above mentioned details, by November 25, 2016. This is to allow people ample time to make/purchase their FE gifts, and ensure they can deliver to all those registered on the list.

FE Participation Re-Confirmation Date
ALL registered families must CONFIRM their participation by December 1, 2016. This is so the FE list(s) can be finalized. Of course, your situation regarding cruising may change at the last minute and that cannot be helped, but re-confirmation just ensures no one has changed their minds or cancelled their sailing and forgot to say so.

Latecomers/Non-Confirmation
The Latecomers list is for those who have booked their cruise at the last minute, missed our FE group cut-off date, but still want to participate in FEs. Anyone who does not confirm in time will also be moved to this list. Participants on this list will provide FE gifts for each other, and are welcome to supply FE gifts for other cruisers, but should not expect to receive anything in return. Regular list participants are free to deliver FE gifts to those on this list, but are not obliged to.

FE Gifts
Please remember that this is not a competition to produce the biggest or most expensive gift; it is about sharing the Disney magic. You can do gifts for every individual or each family on your list, the choice is yours. Some people like to personalise gifts, so you may find additional information is requested as we get closer to the cruise – for example: first names, favourite Disney characters, etc.

However, please be mindful that not all cruisers are from the USA. This means your fellow cruisers may have to consider customs, quarantine and luggage allowance regulations on their return journeys home. Also, for overseas cruisers, please make sure that the gifts you are bringing are acceptable imports to the USA; we wouldn’t want you to have them seized at immigration/quarantine/customs!

Delivering Your FE Gifts
It is great not to have a specific time to deliver FE gifts, as it means they start to trickle in all day, every day, as the cruise progresses! However, you should attempt to deliver your FE gifts by 5pm on the last full day, so that families have time to remove their FE, pack, and have luggage ready to go for the disembarkation luggage service.

Any advise for pre-planing or things that you recommend we should register for prior to our sail day would be most appreciated.

Things you should register for as soon as you can, online, are Palo/Remy brunch/dinner if you think you want to experience them. And any excursions you are going to do. Just be aware that some excursions have age limits
Also you should register your grandchildren in the kids clubs. The under 3's, I believe, you can book some times for in the nursery.
You can also book massages etc at Senses Spa .

We have never been to Palo or Remy. And we don't do excursions. We usually just wander about in a port & do some shopping.

Hello there! This is my first foray into the world of DIS and completely new to the Disney Cruising as well as FE. My husband and I are surprising our girls, (well, Santa Claus is) with this Disney Cruise. I'm not sure how I'm going to keep this secret for so long!
