F&W - but mostly W

M U S T F I N I S H T R I P R E P O R T!!!!

I can't put it off any longer - tonight I finish the trip report!
(Putting goals in writing helps!)

Day 5 !

On day 5 we did an unusual early wake up (not really that early) and headed straight to the bus stop so that I could introduce Adriane to the Animal Kingdom!
On the way there I discovered tiny hobbit sized chairs (giant sofa pic to follow).

I also had to point out where the gym was (gotta love the muscles and bustles name!).

We did not have to wait long for the bus and we were on our way. Once we arrived, Adriane and I explored the Oasis area and realized that we were on vacation and had not had a vacation beverage yet that day! So off to Yak and Yeti we went.

This place has the BEST fried green beans ever! If you have not had a chance to sample them - you are missing out.

From Yak and Yeti we stumbled over to the maharajah jungle trek to say hello to some animals. We visited the Komodo dragon, saw some tigers, and hung out with a few bats. Here is a pic of Adriane trying for a better view of a young tiger.

I really dig the ruined palace theme they have going in this area. I also really like that they have random bicycles used for decoration.

More AK fun and a romantic dinner to follow!

Adriane is currently working on a scrap book from this trip. I have to finish the trip report BEFORE she finishes the scrap book!

I will probably post a few photos of her handy work - she is way better at that stuff than I am!

Adrian'e scrapbook is coming along and it looks awesome!

I am going to try and finish this trip report tomorrow...

Finally! I am going to finish this trip report! It is almost a year since we returned and only 432 days until the next trip. Ouch...
432 is way too many days to wait!

In any event - on with the trip report!

I have a ton of photo op traditions. One of them at the Animal Kingdom includes a photo in front of the blue bus. This time I got Adriane to join me for the photo.

Of all the rides in AK, I can never seem to get anyone to ride Kali River Rapids with me. Adriane is no wimp, so she braved the white water and we both came out mostly dry. The poor woman who was escorting all the teenagers who were on the ride with us did not fare so well. She got completely soaked! Here is a mostly dry - post ride photo of Adriane.

After KRR, Adriane had a blast taking photos of all the animals on Kilimanjaro Safaris.
IMG_5124.jpg

As per usual, I spent the whole ride taking photos of us! :wave2:

I had a big evening planned, so we headed back to the boardwalk a bit early. I had planned ahead to hit up AK on this day as it closes early anyhow.
Adriane had no idea what was planned for dinner, except that she needed to wear something nice. So we went back to the room and got cleaned up and headed for the Contemporary resort.
When we arrived, we checked in at the California Grille host stand and were escorted upstairs. When we were seated at our dinner table we were surprised to see that our table had been covered with Mickey confetti!
IMG_5188.jpg

It was a very nice touch!

Being the dork that I am, I had a little fun with the confetti.

Adriane LOVES tomatoes and had this wonderful salad. I had some sushi and loved every bite (we also ate other items but it was a year ago and I can't recall everything!).
IMG_5190.jpg

After dinner I took Adriane to the observation deck where we watched the MK fireworks. The show was impressive and she was almost overwhelmed. It was an amazing time and I think she was fairly swept off her feet!
When we returned to the boardwalk after the super romantic dinner, Adriane discovered a GIANT sofa to go with the hobbit sized chairs we found earlier. This resort has everything!

MORE to come! I am finishing this report tonight!

Our final full day.

We started the day doing a little bit of laundry. A washer and dryer in the room was one of those DVC accommodations that I never really thought I would use. However, it was AWESOME to have on this trip! It made a big difference. Once the super fun and extra exciting laundry was done, we hit up ESPN zone (the french fries are great!).

After ESPN Adriane hit up some craft beers!
IMG_5212.jpg

Adriane then had to (attempt to) compete with my yoga fountain pose from earlier in this thread...
IMG_5224.jpg

I think I won that contest!

Then at the China pavilion, Adriane asked me to try on a few of the hats they had for sale. I HATED THE FIRST ONE.
IMG_5231.jpg

- but the second one was pretty cool!
IMG_5232.jpg

Yeah, the second one was much better.

After that we ate at the new fast food joint in Mexico and we LOVED the street tacos that they had. Adriane will not stop talking about them even now! I don't think we did much of anything substantial other than explore and enjoy vacation together... I did have another great surprise planned for this night! So once again, we got all cleaned up for dinner and headed out.
This night was at La Hacienda with a table up against the windows of the world showcase lagoon!
IMG_5250.jpg

Dinner was great. Our seats gave us great views of illuminations. It was a magical night. Adriane was super impressed!
IMG_5248.jpg

After dinner we headed back to the room to get one last magical night's sleep before getting ready to head back to the real world.

On our last morning we decided to use our proximity to the world showcase to enjoy just a little bit more of the F&W fest. We sampled a bit of Morocco...

Adriane played around a bit in Italy and took a tour of the flowers and sculptures.
IMG_5279.jpg

It is a family website right?!?
IMG_5282.jpg

After that last round of Epcot fun, we were off to the magical express to head home... It has been well over a year since this last trip and today marks 363 days until the next one! I am sure to start a pre-trip report soon!
