Between WL and AKL, we like WL the best. We love the look and the feel of the resort. It's so relaxing! I love everything from the music in the lobby to the animal tracks in the paths. The lobby theming is amazing. We also love the boat ride over to MK.
We have never had any problem with any of the cast members there. They've all been fantastic. In fact, we've had the best service at WL that we've experienced at any of the resorts we've stayed at.
As for AKL (we actually stayed in an AKV room in Jambo House), we liked the resort theming, but the savannah view and the animals weren't as interesting as we thought they would be. The biggest negative for us was the extreme remoteness of the resort from every park except for AK. It seemed to take forever to get anywhere.
With respect to signature restaurants, we love both Artist Point at WL and Jiko at AKL. Jiko probably gets the nod there. It was fantastic. As for counter service, both Roaring Fork at WL and the Mara at AKL are comparable. There's far more seating at Mara, though. We didn't particularly care for Boma at AKL. The pools and hot tubs are comparable at both, too.
We liked both WL and AKL better than the Polynesian. While the Polynesian resort itself is beautiful, and the size of the rooms is a plus, we
didn't like:
- having to walk outside to our room
- the unacceptably low water pressure (One morning, I couldn't take a shower, and it took 30 minutes to fill the tub for a bath.)
- the lack of a hot tub at the resort
- the dust in our room, which never felt clean even after being "cleaned" by room service
- the food and inadequate seating at Captain Cook's (We ate there just once, which was once too much, and ate breakfast every other time at Kona Cafe)
On the other hand, we absolutely
loved the coffee press at the Kona Cafe!
