Everthing you wanted to know about Uber/Lyft at WDW

My husband has a conference at a Disney Springs hotel and we're thinking about booking Pop the entire trip and he use Uber to get to the conference each day. So from what I understand, we can schedule a car to pick him up at the Pop lobby each morning. He'll need to be there around 8 each morning, should we allow 45 min or more for him to get there?
That should be good to start with. He may want to adjust it after seeing how the 1st day goes.

Has anyone used Lyft?
I was thinking of using from AoA to gwt to my reservation at Ohana. I wonder how much time in advance I should request a ride?!
I have never used it before.

Yes, all the time. I don't use Uber much any more at all due to the tip deal
You request it when you are close to being ready to be picked up. Just check the app about 10 min before you are ready to go, see how far away cars are and adjust your time accordingly. If you know you are about 10 min out, check the app and see cars are 5 min away wait a few minutes and then request your ride. If you check and it shows cars are 10 min away then request it then.

Caution: Drivers are required to wait at least 5 minutes. If the driver arrives at the pick-up location more than 5 minutes before you do, the driver may call it a no-show and you will then be charged a $5 cancellation fee and have to request the ride all over again.

I think most drivers will attempt to phone or text you before cancelling, but it is not a requirement.

I evidently was not clear on my explanation. I never call and make a driver wait. I think it's a horrible thing to do
When it's about time for me to leave I check the app and see what the avg wait time is. That gives me a ball park figure on what time I need to request a car so that I'm not waiting a long time and the driver isn't waiting at all. If it show drivers about 5 min away, I request as I'm walking up to my pick up location. If they are less, I wait till I'm at my pick up location. If it shows cars are more than 5 min away I request a few minutes before I'm walking up to the pick up location. I guess it's hard to explain but once you use the app you can get a good idea on how to check it and how to time it so no one waits excessive time but if anyone is waiting, it's going to be me, not the driver. Ever.

You can only be dropped off at a resort if you're staying there or have a dining reservation? We're hoping to visit/tour a few different resorts...that's not possible??

So wait, is Uber Black no longer a thing from MCO? I am arriving on Thursday and need to get from MCO to the Dolphin. Is Uber still an option or not? Will I need a cab instead or should I get a towncar? So confused.

There are no problems getting dropped at a Resort you neither stay at or have an ADR at

Unless you are reading something I've missed this is not what was said.
UberBlack was not the only Uber when we arrived last month. They also allowed UberSelect. Which is slightly cheaper. Now, something could have been posted that I missed so sorry if that is the case

The first page of the thread says as of Oct 15, 2016, Uber is not legal at MCO...

And when I use the Uber app and put in MCO as the pickup location, Uber Black is not an option, just Select and XL, but there is a post above that says Uber Select drivers are being ticketed for pickups at MCO.

That is why I am confused.

It was presented to us as a permanent change. However, in my opinion, it will be short lived. MCO/City of Orlando VFH is actively ticketing uber select and selectxl drivers (the cars you can order via the app)who pickup there since the lower rate is in violation of their permits. Not only is there a lovely fine (which uber will pay) but there's a suspension from the property which increases to a permanent trespass ban for subsequent offenses.

What does this post mean? Can you clarify please? Will I be able to use Uber MCO to Dolphin hotel in two days?

Well, then yes, you are reading something I hadn't seen. Our pick up was about a week before that. Hopefully Rob can clear things up

Sorry for the confusion everyone. I tweaked the original thread to remove the "illegal" verbiage. Basically, since they downgraded the service type from Black to Select (and dropped the price) theres been a huge controversy. The most recent I am hearing is that the city has decided to hold off on ticketing the drivers further, and go back to court with uber. There shouldnt be any impact to customers in the short term.

We are checking in to Bay Lake Towers at 4pm & want to get to Epcot as fast as possible right after that. Uber or Monorail....not sure which would be the best at that time of day. Any thoughts are appreciated!!

That is a tougher one.
The walk from the Monorail stop is quicker than the walk from the Lyft/Uber drop off
The monorail runs fast and often.
But, you have to go from CR to TTC then change monorails and go to Epcot.
For that reason alone Uber/Lyft is going to be faster.

Perfect!! That is what we will do!! They will able to drop us off at the main entrance still, correct?? Behind where the buses drop off??

Hi! My question is about using Uber to get to the MK by getting dropped off at CR. I saw the first post, and know that technically this is not allowed, but we have done it in the past and were hoping to do it again for an 8 am ADR at CRT coming from AKL :crazy2:.

What's the latest on this? Should we attempt it or just take the bus?

Thanks!

I'm going to be attempting to use CR as a drop off to get to MK for an early ADR at the end of March. I'd like to know what happens if we arrive at CR in our Uber ride and get turned away!? Is there an alternate drop-off nearby that could still get us to MK on time?

I just can't imagine you'll get turned away. The driver will inform the guard they are just there to drop you off. They aren't turning drop offs away.
But no, if you can't get in CR they other option is TTC. Or you could try GF. MK via the monorail from there would be just 1 stop but you'd stand the same issue
