Escape from Gringotts- breakdown question

We spent 3 days at Universal's parks a few weeks ago and each day, Escape from Gringotts closed a few times due to technical issues. I did a quick Google search and saw several articles that said it isn't a reliable ride. We got in line right away on day 1 and the line was listed as 20 minutes. 45+ minutes later, we finally boarded.
Anyway, my kids wondered what would have happened if we were on the ride and it broke down. Do they turn the movie part off or do you keep rewatching things over and over? What about other effects?

I was on the ride last October when it broke down

More lights came on and when we returned back to the station, they told all of us to stay on the ride as problems were fixed and we would do a reride

It all depends on how long it is going to be down for. They may just leave you sitting there with everything on if it will only be a few minutes. Things may turn off it is going to be longer but still not too long and if really long, lights will come on and someone will escort you off the ride.

I was with Mac on that ride.

Opening weekend we were stuck for almost an hour and were evacuated off the ride with ladders.

Normally when the ride stops the movie parts are frozen, then turn off after a period of time. Most live action will shut off to along with sound.

We were on it when it shut down about four times during one ride - each time, it was for a few minutes, and the loudspeaker announcement told us to stay put, because it was only momentary. The movie-based visuals froze, and some of the animatronics reset, and we got a very stilted ride experience. We'd already ridden it once seamlessly, though, so we got off before the re-ride and went to get breakfast.
