Yay...you got the filet and mashed potatoes! :thumbsup2 So glad that you enjoyed them. I believe that brings your point total to 20. But I've been a little preoccupied lately with other lists and such, so please correct me if I'm wrong. ;) :rotfl:

Aha! An extra bit of dining enjoyment thrown in at no additional cost!

BTW: After reading yet another amazing steak review Em and I went straight to the store and bought a NY Strip, grilled it and devoured it. (Michael was with friends so no need to worry that we were forgetting our man!) Shows you the influence and the power of the Dining Boards!!! :rotfl2:

There are about 43 more cupcakes that I want to try too!!!

See another person who didn't mind the cheese? :p I have to give my taste buds a pep talk next time!

Sounds like another red velvet cupcake is in your future! I would have eaten the entire thing myself but I was saving my appetite for YSH! :upsidedow

The male mind!! :rotfl2: And YES!! I heard your anagelic choir when I ate my filet. It was oh so good!

Oh my, you really are in a rural area. At least you know where your nearest hospital is located! :rotfl: Forever21 does have on-line shopping which I have done but it's not the same.

YSH will be a fabulous place for Mark's bday meal! They really do get some great reviews. Hang on for my upcoming HBD review.... it was .... interesting.:p You may see me agreeing with you.

Awww Debra it should be wonderful!! You'll have to tell us how you liked it!! :goodvibes

So funny.. you had a very gentle way of telling me to pay more attention!!! Otherwise your user name would be Lucysmommy!! :rotfl2: I'm a dope sometimes! And Ava is a beautiful name! I think I have seen every I Love Lucy 10 times. It is my go to show on TV which annoys Michael since he says I watch on an HD TV regular def. all the TV Land shows Yeah, so?? :rotfl:

As for the steak dilemma, I like both but YSH is definitely a more Signature experience while LC is wonderful (one of my favorite filets) but more crowded and not so intimate of a setting. Just different. However, it's still a hard choice if you pit the breads against each other - LC pretzel bread vs YSH onion rolls. I would choose the pretzel bread!! ;) With all that said.. I'm no help.

Give Ava a hug and Lucy a bone! Did I get it right that time? :p

Oh my - this steak lover is drooling over all of your selections!! It would be tough to make Eilee go anywhere other than LC though...although there is nothing stopping us from doing both! ;)

I had every intention of getting that same cupcake from Starting Rolls and then we never got around to it. :sad2: But I'm glad that you were able to test it out and give it the thumbs up! Only one year from now...I'm going to run the 10 miler and then promptly shove that cupcake into my mouth!

Awww yes, you did get it right! How sweet, they would both appreciate it :goodvibes
Ya know I didn't even think of my user name! Haha, what does that say about me? :rotfl:
I watch TV land all the time too! Lucy and Roseanne reruns!

You did help me.....decide that I need to find a way to eat both filets and breads during our trip! :rotfl2:
My family, we actually own a deli, pizzeria, bakery here in our town. My step father is master baker trained and he makes some amazing stuff, including.....pretzel rolls!! These are not like a mall pretzel but an old German family recipe that people just flip over. Everyone loves them and seeing how much everyone loves the pretzel bread at LeCellier, I'm sure you would all our love pretzel rolls! I wish I could send some to all the Disers! I've actually never had the bread from LeCellier, I'm so looking forward to it!*

I am so happy your meal and server at YM was so fantastic! We love that place so much and I am right there with you that filet is out of this world good. I will have to remember Ricardo for future trips.

Oops! I missed your comment but I know you have a choice in dining reviews and Emmysmommy appreciates you choosing mine so next time you think of a steak to be consumed in WDW, go with the filet at YSH!! :lmao: Seriously though, I absolutely agree with you that any more than 6-8 ounces of meat and I'm in pain because I also eat the bread and dessert and the sides.. you get it. :)

If you can squeeze in both Eilee may have a new favorite.

Ha! Finishing the 10-miler should earn you a cupcake AND an order of beignets! Your 4 mile run time is amazing! You will need to do a 1/2 marathon next!

OMG! I just recently started watching Rosanne re-runs which drives Michael crazy. I have about 7 on the DVR right now. ;) It's definitely Michael repellent when I put that on TV - he's out of there and up in his man cave so quick!! :upsidedow

That is awesome that you have a master baker in your family! Michael was in the AF in Plattsburg so many years ago but he loves upstate NY! I would love to swing by your bakery/deli/pizzaria and try the pretzel rolls. :)

Welcome back Lori!!! I thought of you when we were there and no, I didn't see a blonde server!! I was a little relieved when Ricardo introduced himself. :goodvibes And YES, the filet was so good.

Hi there! Thanks for joining! What a wonderful time of the year to go to WDW - it is on my "one day" list!

So are you a Cardinals fan? :lmao: I have a St. Louis office for my company and I swear I am impressed that the ladies are such fans! I think it is a requirement for working for my company that you must wear a Cardinals jersey and watch every game! (I work with some really awesome people in our "midwest" office so believe me, I'm not mocking them.)

If you are following my dining line up you will see that Kouzzina was our breakfast ADR this morning. However, after over indulging in YSH dinner the night before I wasn't feeling well. With my food baby interferring with my dining enjoyment and Michael and Em wishing to sleep in - we ended up cancelling Kouzzina. It will be on our "next time" list since I definitely wanted to return and try something other than the breakfast skillet. With that let's move on to lunch.

    50's Prime Time Cafe

We checked in for our 1:20ADR. We asked if Cooper was working that day and were disappointed to hear that he was not. No worries…. we were seated near the back of the restaurant at a 4 top table that was not at one of the TVs. I was hoping for a TV table since it was Michael’s first time at this restaurant and we could have waited for one to open up but I just didn’t feel like being a pain.

Our server was Lydia from Chicago… if her job was limited to delivering the food from the kitchen to our table, then she did good. Michael had heard our tales of antics and shenanigans so I think he was expecting more hilarity than simply being asked to set the table – which he did with all seriousness - he didn't get that that was part of the shtick. Even for some of the other tables, I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything as the other rooms didn’t appear to have too much going on either. However, one thing that I love about this restaurant that is not dependent upon a witty server is the nostalgic décor and the vintage television and movie clips playing on the Disney TVs.

    Menus:

Onto the meal… Em ordered the pot roast, as always, Michael ordered the onion rings and the bleu cheese wedge salad (strange combo I know), and I ordered the chicken Caesar salad.

Mom’s Old Fashioned Pot Roast; slow cooked until fork tender served with carrots, celery, onion and mashed potatoes: $17.99

Em is a huge pot roast fan so that is her go-to dish when on the menu. This pot roast was indeed fork tender and had the perfect balance of gravy and veggies. It received a thumbs up from her.

Cousin Amy’s Iceberg Lettuce Wedge; with bleu cheese dressing, bacon and chives: $5.49

I have ordered this salad many times and enjoyed it, coincidently, this time I decided to try something new. However, Michael thought it was just ok – nothing spectacular by any means. It had a lot of bleu cheese dressing with chunks of cheese puddling on the plate.

Beer Battered Onion Rings for Two; served with horseradish sauce: $8.49 – no photo

Not sure why I missed getting a photo of the onion rings… Michael didn’t have much to say about them so they weren’t amazing but on the other hand they weren’t disgusting. Sorry, I either didn’t pay attention or write down any notes for many of Michaels dishes and when I ask him now, they don’t stand out so my review of some of these items falls flat. It’s times like this that I need the photo to speak for me when I can’t offer an opinion.

Chicken Caesar Salad; Romaine lettuce tossed with Caesar dressing, garlic croutons, and grated Parmesan: $13.99

For my first visit to 50’s PT I ordered the meatloaf (just ok) followed by the next two visits where I ordered the bleu cheese wedge salad and sides of veggies (again, ok, nothing spectacular.) I was ready to try a new entrée and didn’t want a big meal so this salad sounded like a good choice. I have to say that it was a GREAT choice. It had perfectly cooked (with grill marks) chicken breast with a generous amount of grated Parmesan. I would have preferred a little less dressing on the salad but if I don’t order it on the side I rather lose control of the rationing of that component of the salad.

50’s PT has some great dessert options such as cheesecake, brownie sundae, s’mores, Boston cream parfait, and ice cream sundaes. I thought about trying the s’mores since it looks unique and light but we decided to split a brownie sundae with toppings on the side.

Dad’s Brownie Sundae; brownie with vanilla ice-cream, hot fudge and caramel topping with fresh whip cream: $5.99
    [IMG]

    The whole shebang:

I was so glad that Michael only took a few bites because that left more of this lovely dessert to me and Em. It was the perfect ending to this meal.

The bill was $59.27 which included $11.49 in TiW savings.

Nothing in your review screamed at me that I need to have it!! And for that I am EXTREMELY grateful as I ditched this ADR first for Hollywood Brown Derby and then I made it again for another day and ditched it for Chefs de France!!

Sounds like your salad and dessert was good as well as Em's pot roast. Has she tried the Pot Roast at Liberty Tree Tavern? Just wondering on how they compare?!?!

Sorry the antics were not there this meal. I've heard both good and bad about them but mostly that there is less of them nowadays.

Neither Jay or Andrew 'loves' 50s so we didn't go in August. I then had an ADR for Andrew and I in November and he asked me to change it to Sci Fi. I will get back there some day. I love the pot roast! Your salad looked really good. A nice change from all the rich meals Disney offers!

That's a shame you didn't get more antics at 50's! But it seems to be hit or miss.

I know what you mean about the food baby... it can definitely squash further gluttony rather quickly!

I love the hidden mickey with your dessert set up! I always enjoy the pot roast there, but this last trip decided to skip it for something new. Too bad your sever wasn't into the antics, that is part of the charm.

Eilee loves pot roast too - perhaps we'll need to back here. Our first trip to 50s PT was the dreadful visit when my sister and I both took our kids. The server was great but when my niece "tattled" on Eilee because she didn't finish her veggies, everyone in the room yelled "tattletale" at my niece and she got angry and was a pill for the rest of the day!:rotfl2: We haven't been back since. I helped to plan my supervisor's first visit to WDW with her DH (I realized one week out that she had the dining plan and didn't have one ADR!!! :scared1: So I made all of her ADRs and this is one of the places that I sent her to, and I'm hoping they got some of the antics that I'd told her about. Too bad you didn't get any for Michael's first visit. :sad1:

I love your random straw. ;) it looks better than the sausage!

Yay for Roseanne reruns! I actually have the first 7 seasons on DVD and I'm not ashamed! :rotfl:
How fun would that be if you ever got the chance to visit our little place!! I love that idea! :goodvibes:

Too bad about 50's, I've never actually ate there and was debating whether to change our Sci Fi plan to there. I know when you are excited to bring someone somewhere for the 1st time you want it to be fun and delicious and it's definitely disappointing if it misses the mark! Love the straw pic though!

And :lmao: at food baby! I just realized our wedding is 6 days into our trip.......I'm never going to fit into my dress by then! I better have it sized forgivingly! :rotfl2:

Thank you Ro Z! Ha, is that "Rosie"? I wouldn't mind some brownie sundae from breakfast right now. ;)

Yeah, don't run out and switch anything for this - especially Chefs de France! (One of my favorites of the trip coming up.) Yes, Em has ONLY had the pot roast at LTT as well and between the two, LTT is the clear winner. Bigger chunks of veggies and a better gravy. You will probably already be enjoying F&W by the time I get to LTT but I can assure you, you are not going wrong with chosing that over 50s.

Love that you can say that you are going back to WDW NEXT MONTH!!!::yes::

Sci-Fi is such a solid choice - great theme and enough decent choices. And yes, the salad was a nice change - glad I tried something new.

You're killin me Linda! Not to mention you make me have tears running down my leg!! :p

I agree that the antics really depend on the server. We've had such a great one (Cooper) that we have requested the last 2 times. Oh well. And yes, my food baby was a show stopper for breakfast - darn!

I followed the live updates so I had a peek at what you ate! :) We've had worse servers so as far as that goes, it was no problem.

Sausage may I introduce you to the straw!! :lmao:

Yeah, I was hoping for more antics since Michael is hilarious it would have been a great fit. Instead, they chatted about Chicigo since that's where he's from and Puerto Rico where we were a few years ago. Oh well, it wasn't bad just not rip roaring funny.

I saw your ticker and knew you were getting married but how amazing that it will be THERE on your trip.

"sized forgivingly" I love that and it's sad, but I completely understand!! The planing for this trip is extra special and I wish you all the BEST!:)

Oooh nearly missed your Yachtsman review, I've been so busy these past few days.

Your experience was so totally different to ours. We had our wedding meal here and it was a disaster.

I have no idea who our waitress was (I may have blanked her from my mind). We had reservations for opening at 5.30pm and were seated in the window. At the table next to us was a family with two boys of about 6 and 8 - the older one of which was wrapped in towels having been dragged in from the pool and was making a right old fuss about this fact.

We didnt get any lovely personalised menus :sad2: even though we declined tap water, the server insisted on pouring us both a glass and leaving the carafe. Later she topped up my sparkling water with tap water

Unfortunately the aircon wasnt turned down very low and as the meal progressed I got very hot and had a one point to leave to cool down in the hall way. The lovely lady at check-in brought me a cold facecloth and the manager turned the aircon down.

A different server asked if I wanted my filet heating and I said yes, so our server took away my plate and brought my dinner back in a to-go box!

At this point I just wanted out but she insisted we should have dessert. We were at the end of the meal presented with the "congratulations" plate with the toffee and strange jelly things.

Its strange how different people's experiences are. I remember you mentioned your experience at Flying Fish was not so good with service whilst ours was amazing!

    Keep the review coming x
