Will be going to Disney with a person that has mobility issues, can't walk in the parks all day and will be renting a ecv from an outside company - We are staying at the Beach so I am not concerned about Epcot or HS. But how do I drop him off at the Ticket and Transportation center, or at the front of AK and then go park the car.

Since he does not have a handicap tag the car will be parked in the regular lot.

I don't mind dropping him off but I just don't know of anyway of doing it unless I drop him off at the drop off point and then drive all the way around to exit and then re-enter.

when I had a broken foot and rented an outside company's ecv, I also did not have handicap tags. before I went, I had my dr approve a temp handicap tag that hung from the mirror. I explained that I really didn't need the tag for everyday use, but I for the trip only. I couldn't park and use the tram with an ecv, so I needed to be within scootering distance, which means the handicap section. it was no problem.

Ok - I will tell him - but I don't think he will do that. He is a very proud man and really hates getting the scooter but it is only for the best, as he will never make for more than 1 day. He doesn't use anything at home - just always parks close to the front doors and does alot of shopping online.

I do not believe that you will have to leave in order to do a EVC drop off.

Another option is a AAA Parking pass, though I think in order to get one you have to get your tickets or set up your Vacation with AAA. The AAA section of the lot is right next to the Handicap area.

I know it is hard to give into, but it would be so worth it for the parks. would you be able to call the dr and inquire about it for him?

I am a "very proud woman" who "USES a scooter!" I don't understand why lack of pride & scooter use should be negatively implied in the same sentence.

Can't I use a scooter & still be PROUD of me? I do parades & play a mellophone on a scooter. I am PROUD!

    Thank you for understanding! :goodvibes

And - to answer your original question -- There are spaces at the ends of the rows in the lot next to the HC lot that the CMs will direct you to if you don't have a tag. These are saved for those who have a scooter, but don't have a HC tag. The CMs are extremely kind about helping. Just ask. :thumbsup2

Actually, you want to tell the CM when you purchase parking that you need close-in parking and do not have a disabled tag. There are spaces in the disabled parking area for fols such as yourself. Just be careful NOT to park in a disabled space (usually outlined in blue) as you can be ticketed.

The trams DO NOt take ECVs.

I know that the tram doesn't take the scooter - that is why am I asking - Since I drive (this my preference) how do I drop off the scooter person? The Animal Kingdom is my major question. I don't have a AAA package so I won't have a Diamond pass. Although I am an AAA member but I don't think that I can get a pass unless I booked through AAA.

Since I am not related to the gentleman - we are just friends - there is no way that I could contact his doctor and request a tag.

In the parking area that has the disabled spaces there are additional spaces for people who do not have disabled tags. When you pay for parking as you come in, tell the CM that you have an ECV but no tag. They will direct you (as will the subsequent CMs) to the appropriate lot. You should park your vehicle in a nondisabled space (ie NOT in blue/with wheelchair symbol) IN THAT LOT/area and proceed to walk/roll to the park gate (or to the monorail/ferry if @ the TTC).
