Day 2 - December 1st

We got up about 7 or so. I wanted to get to MK at opening, 9 am. Unfortunately we didn't get out as quickly as I had hoped. When we got there, we were going to take the ferry over, but they said they weren't leaving for 20 minutes. We grumbled and headed back for the monorail. We just misssed it so we went to the front of the line for the next one, which came in about 2 minutes. As it was opening the doors, I asked "can you ride in the front on
this route?", the guy say's "I can take 4", which we were. So, our first day, to the MK, and we got to ride in the front of the monorail. Ds is a train freak, so he was soooo happy. The driver was a dud, didn't say a word, but it was still really great. After we got through the gates, we headed to the middle of the castle for Fantasyland, and to my surprise they hadn't dropped the ropes yet, so we got there right on time. We went straight to
Dumbo, and waited for 2 rides. This was fine with me, as my last trip I waited 50 minutes in 98 degree heat! Now I see they have shade though, they didn't have that then. We were off to ride Pooh, but found Baloo, Rafiki, Timon and King Louie first. After pics and autographs we rode Pooh with only a few minute wait. We then rode Small World and the Carousel. Dh and ds went on Snow White, while dd (who hates dark and loud things) and I went on
the Carousel again. Then we met Ariel in her Grotto. My dd was so thrilled, she just loves Ariel, and she was so sweet and pretty. We skipped Peter Pan as the line was 20 minutes already. Somewhere in here, I forget in what order, they were opening the doors for the Lion King. We decided to go in. My dd wanted none of it. Now no flames, but we dragged her in kicking and screaming. It was almost embarassing, but she LOVES Simba and I knew
she'd like it. Turns out she was afraid to see the Hyenas and feared it would be dark (which it was kind of). Once she finally calmed down and saw Rafiki in the pre-show she became slightly interested, but when she saw Mufasa in the main show she was captivated! It was all she could talk about the rest of the day, and kept asking when we could see it again. That was where she made her first, of many many bean bag plush purchases, a Simba.
We were starving now, and ate lunch at Starlight Rays Cosmic Café. This was a nice indoor break from being outside. Somehow things seem calmer when your inside. We then headed to Buzz lightyear and got fastpasses. This was our first time with fastpass, and I simply can't understand why people don't use it! We came back at our time, and walked past tons of people, and right onto the ride. We did this more than once on this ride, it's great. Dd
wanted nothing to do with Buzz, so dh and I took turns riding it with Matthew. Right before this we rode the TTA, I love this ride, very relaxing, but Alexa did not like the darkness parts. I had forgotten how long you were in the dark. She did ok, but buried her face until we were in the light again. After Buzz, we decided to call it a day at the MK, as we had not gotten out the shorts, and were getting very warm, and went back to the hotel.
It was so nice out, we went swimming again. When you're from Minnesota, swimming in December outside is such a treat. We ate dinner in the food court, which we really liked. The guys had pizza and my daughter and I split the pasta. She is a very picky eater (as you will probably figure out), and she loved the pasta, so it must have been good. We bought the refillable mugs as well, deciding they would be worth the money, since we are planning to
return to ASMo next year. After dinner, the kids (and dh, the big kid LOL), played in the arcade for awhile. This arcade gives tickets to trade for junk, so they loved it. Dd had to spend her tickets right away, but ds wanted to save his to see if he could get enough for some handcuffs. It was now time to head to the Yacht Club for our Illuminations Cruise. We were sharing it with 2 couples from the DIS boards. We found them right away, and
they were very nice people. We had Captain Ron for our driver, and he was great! He was so funny, and was great with the kids. We cruised down to MGM, over by the Boardwalk and then over to Epcot. We were totally wowed by Illuminations, so much so we decided to see it two more times. It was great to pull up right under the bridge, have the show start immediately and not have to fight the crowds to get out. In all honesty though, I think our
view was better when we watched from the world showcase. After that it was back to the hotel and to bed!

I know what you mean about swimming in the winter...I will be there in 2 weeks to do so! Welcome back to the snow :)

Please tell me he didn't get the handcuffs! LOL

It's fun riding up front on the monorail, isn't it? :)

I'm glad your daughter liked the Lion King show. It broke down when we saw it and I don't think we ever got back to see the ending. Another thing for our to do list. :)

Thanks for sharing your trip with us, elgerber. :)
