With so many different threads regarding comcast and the future of Disney and DVC, I thought it would be informative to see a poll as to how everyone feels.

Like anything else I plunk my hard-earned money into (my house, my car, my kids' educations, my husband's Docker pants...) I'll keep an eye on it!

But nervous? Nah.

I voted not worried but keep an eye on it. I work for a major company that has gone through many mergers, acquisitions and spinoffs in the past 10 years. Each time brought some anxiety about the future but in the end each change has turned out for the best and made our company stronger. I have confidence that this will turn out the same.

We are unsure what will happen to DVC if this happens. Just gonna have to keep our eyes open and see what happens.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_3_6.gif' border=0></a>

I'm somewhere between the "not worried" and "very stressed" but I voted with the "not worried" people, because whatever will happen, will, and I have absolutely no effect on the outcome. I have my DVC and can't wait to go to Vero Beach to relax!

If anything, this only does make we wish I had bought in sooner!

Thanks for everyones input. I know for us Disney Fanatics that this can be a tense time. But from reading threads from the last year, many of us have been showing concern for the direction Disneys been heading.

;)

I voted "keeping an eye". It's for sure they can't cancel our memberships, they can't burn the buildings down, etc. We will have a timeshare there. Just the question of who will be running it. The worst they could do is either 1) new management does a poor job of running the operation or 2) they sell DVC off. Someone mentioned about selling DVC to Marriott. IMO I'm not so sure that, that would be the worst thing to happen. In fact, I see alot of pluses if this happened.

Hi,

I voted not worried but we'll keep an eye on it. We thinking that if the takeover does happen that they won't change too much.

I wouldn't say that I'm very stressed out, but I am watching this closely.

I can't see how an enormous communications /media /entertainment conglomerate would do better job with Walt Disney World than the current bunch.

With this deal, I' think DVC could become less important. That's a concern.

...on things. Only because we don't know what direction this will go. There are so many rumors flying around that no one knows what will happen, including the "players", the Disney Board, Stockholder etc.

I for one think that IF Disney is bought up any company that would "mess" with the whole Disney culture; i.e. excellent customer service, brand name etc. would be foolish. We are afterall talking about something that is more than a company or corporation we are talking about an American Icon.

I voted "Not worried, but will keep an eye on it".
I do believe this deal has the potentail to make Disney/DVC better, as well as worse. There are some very encouraging statements made by Comcast.
If it doesn't happen, I think it will be a wake up call for Eisner, and things will be even better.

After all, the Disney brand will remain. Many brands have a parent company that we don't even know about.

This has the makings to be a win-win situation.

There is a Wall Street Journal Poll with 5,666 responses so far as follows as of 5:00 pm EST on Feb 13th

What would be best for Walt Disney Co.?

18% Deal with Comcast
2% A deal with another firm
56% Stay independent, dump Eisner
24% Stay independent, keep Eisner

I voted to keep an eye on it in the OP's poll.

"There are some very encouraging statements made by Comcast."

Of course they are making encouraging statements, they want Disney. Do you really think for one second they want anything to do with theme parks let alone vacation clubs?

Well, nobody can say for certain. However, much of the Disney content is tied together, and breaking things up may be awkward.

Anyway, time will tell...
