    Hi there,

I was having lunch yesterday with a CM when she mentioned a little bit of dry dock refurb info that I had not heard before. Firstly things that are not happening, for instances Aquaduck, although a enhanced pool slide will be fitted and of course the rooms are being totally changed. That said, it was mentioned that due to the age of the Chihuly chandlier in the main attrim will be replaced with a new one and the current one will be refurbished and installed in the PC terminal building. It has something to do with non destructive tests that have been carried out and that DCL has decided that it and the "hanging device" should be changed during the up coming drydock.
We shall just have to wait and see.

This would have slightly more credence if today weren't the first of April.

April Fool's Day is April 1st (today) in the United States. It is a day when you try to pull a prank or joke on someone else (i.e. you tell someone their shoe is untied and they look to check and then you say "Made you look!"). Stupid, but true!

No aquaduck, asked officer in Feb. Not enough support for it to be added. Top sider and Parrot Cay will be completly changed, and rooms.

    Hi there,

I was busted within minutes by cruisecrasher, the first part was totally true I was having/cooking lunch on Easter Sunday for a CM and the bit about an enchanced Mickey Hand Slide which I heard about on the Dream at Christmas and lots of other stuff, it's all positive. That said the Chihuly is of course staying where it is.

My husband will too. He loved that chandelier. He would probably buy it off DCL and hang it in our house if I let him. :lmao:

:thumbsup2 I like to say I told you so.

I've never been on the Magic or any other Disney cruise. Our first is this January on the Wonder. I'm happy to sail one of the classics before its gets its facelift.

Good Luck with that!! we were at the Chilhully Gardens in Seattle recently and as we were going through the exhibit, we both were thinking that we should buy a small piece to take home as a souvenir. A "plate" sized piece of glass - started at about $5,000 - a little (or LOT) out of our price range. There's a couple of hundred of them in that chandelier along with lots of other pieces. I can only guess what DCL paid for it and the one on the Wonder!!

Seriously, It's being discussed what to do with it, you never know. Contact Roy at DCL customer services, he knows who to speak with.

Check out Disney Cruise Line on Facebook. There are two videos showing the upcoming changes to the Magic. So exciting!

I will miss the Chihuly - as I was watching the video, the first thing I noticed about the atrium update was that it was missing! It's one of my favorite things about the Magic! That said - since it's acrylic and not glass, I wonder if the stress of the constantly moving ship has caused it to age and fatigue faster than it should. That - and I imagine it was impossible to clean! I'm sure there will be a shower of Mickey Confetti when they start to take it down! :lmao:

While I would love to see it hanging in the PC terminal, it doesn't really fit into the decor there. I would hate to see it sold off (as much as I would love to buy a piece of it! :rotfl2:) or placed somewhere that the public can no longer enjoy it. I don't know what they might do with it - but I hope whatever they decide is something that future cruisers can experience and enjoy like those of us who has cruised with it hanging (precariously?) over our heads!
