I just took a trip alone last October. It was great! I did exactly what I wanted to do. During my two day stay I did not go on a ride!!! I got to take my time going to shows my family never wants to see (Voices of Liberty), took my time at the Disney Gallery and the shops along Main Street, watched the flag retreat in the afternoon, saw the parade. Had a marvelous lengthy lunch at Cafe Orleans. Took a leisurely walk through DCA, and explored Carsland. Had tons of fun pin trading with cast members. Sitting on a bench with popcorn or a dole whip and people watching is so much fun. Enjoyed seeing the families together, didn't feel the love for the groups of Tweens.
It was so RELAXING, very different than my previous visits with family and friends.

Enjoy you time at the parks!

LOVE LOVE LOVE doing DL solo trips! I get to do what I want, when I want... so DD's not there begging to ride on Ariel for the 90th time.... and SO's not asking for the 97th ride on Indiana Jones... and I can eat *another* dole whip if I really want to, and no one knows ;)

I didn't feel nearly as "alone" as I thought I would. As others have mentioned, talking with CMs and chatting with the people around you can really stifle the feelings of being alone.

I did 3 days last May, and will be doing 3 days again this winter. It's the perfect amount of time for me.... Since I do single-rider lines when I'm alone, I can get a ton of rides in just a little bit of time, and then spend some time people-watching too!

I'm doing my first solo trip ever in about a month. I'm nervous, but I think DL is a good place to go alone, because you're never truly... "Alone" at least in the parks.

Subbing to get all the tips and tricks!

I have been to DL solo 4 times from 4-5 days each time.

All of these 4 trips have been from Feb 2012-Feb 2013 (yes, I had an AP).

I have stayed at Best Western Park Place Inn, Howard Johnson, Paradise Pier and the Disneyland Hotel (my mom's fault as she wanted to stay there on our Dec trip).

I went in Feb 2012 after going to WDW in Sept 2011 with a friend (now former) as I was disappointed with our trip.

I am totally addicted!! I am going to WDW in 4 days for another solo trip (did my first solo WDW trip last Sept). And will most likely be hitting either WDW or DL for "Christmas Time" again. Trying to convince my mom to come with me :stir:

You will have a blast. I am not the most outgoing person, and being alone doesn't bother me that much. But with that being said, I met lots of people especially waiting in lines for rides or a dole whip.:lmao:

I never felt scared or nervous. You will be around people almost all of the time. Even walking to and from your hotel.

You are all awesome! Thanks so much for the replies! I'm feeling more comfortable now with my decision to go solo and am really looking forward to it. I'm a little worried I will feel a little sadness being there because my 3 previous trips to Disney were all with my former best friend. But what can ya do? I'm willing to give it a try.

Yeah I think eating alone will be the toughest for me too, but I like the idea of maybe taking a break and eating at the hotel. Thanks for the reply!

I went solo for my birthday two years ago. I met up with another DISer there solo for her birthday and we had a character breakfast together. I had so much fun! It was so nice to do everything at my own pace. I don't know how to post a link but I also wrote a trip report about my solo birthday trip if you'd like to check it out.

I have done WDW and DL solo, and let me just tell you...it is awesome! Eat when you want, ride when and what you want, sleep when you want, wander when you want. One night, I just sat on Main Street, ate popcorn, and people-watched. You will really enjoy it, in my opinion.

I also did a solo trip for the first time last year. I had a fantastic time. It's a lot of fun being able to take your time and look around the park at your own pace. I'm one of those people who needs to see EVERYTHING so I can drive my friends/family a little nuts when we travel, haha.

For me, I never really felt lonely in the parks. Like everyone above has said, people are in such a good mood. Eating alone didn't really bother me, but I just did quick and easy self-serve food. I might have felt differently going to Blue Bayou alone or something.

The only time I felt a little silly, as a grown 36 year old man, was getting onto certain rides solo in Fantasy Land. I did forego a couple of the kiddie rides because I think I would have felt a little dumb riding alone (like the carousel, ha). But other than that I rode everything. Single Rider is awesome. And I noticed that there are a TON of people riding alone. They may be on a solo trip, or their family may be taking a break, etc., but I noticed lots of people riding alone so at no point did it feel like I was the odd person out.

For me the only lonely part was getting back to the hotel at the end of the night and being there solo. But I was so exhausted by that point I couldn't really dwell on it, haha. One evening I did cut out of DLR early and took a drive up to LA, which was fun.

I highly recommend a solo trip. You'll have a great time.

Don't be afraid to do kiddie rides solo! I've ridden Dumbo, the carousel, and the Casey Jr train by myself!

I'm planning on doing a character breakfast alone.

    I'm kinda nervous about that.

Don't be! I did a character meal at WDW and it was not a big deal at all. The characters will come and talk to you, just like they would if you were in a group!

I live local so I go to Disneyland at least twice a month solo. You should have no problem enjoying your solo trip to the parks and 3 days should be plenty of time to take in all the fun. Have a great trip.

    Hi,

I was there by myself last September, and will be heading back this September solo. My best advice would be to take a guided tour (The Walk in Walt's Disneyland Footsteps is great!!).

Hope you have a great time!!

I go alone ALL THE TIME. But I'm not traveling like you are, so it's a little different. I did find it a little awkward at first to be honest. I felt self conscious about doing rides alone for example. But I got over it after a few trips. I've never worried about dining alone though. I do that a lot anyway. Love going to movies by myself too.

But for me, the park isn't really about the rides anyway. I go to soak in that good Disney magic. I watch...a lot. I can get lost for hours and hours watching the goings on from Town Square through Main Street and up to the Hub and Castle. There's so much to take in.
