Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS RIVERSIDE Resort

Apologies in advance if this is mentioned somewhere else - are there full size hair dryers in the rooms at POR? When I last visited 2 years ago they were in the process of replacing the wall hair dryers with regular ones at most of the resorts.

Hair dryers are now in little bags on the shelf rather than being mounted to the wall. I can't say whether they are bigger or smaller than the old ones though.

Hello! Just booked an 30 year anniversary and my granddaughter's 8th birthday trip to POR for September! So excited!!!! I have a quick question regarding the coffee pot. When we previously stayed, we brought our own coffee-the coffee pots were the 4 cup one. But now they have a different one-Cuisinart dual cup pod- I was told but it is not a k-cup? What does it use? Does anyone know? I would need to research so that I can purchase prior to our trip.

Thanks!!!

Bummed that POR wasn't included in the FD for my dates. I contemplated switching to CBR to get the FD but no standard rooms available there either. So here's my question- what are the chances that RO discounts will be offered here for dates between 11/26-12/4 at a later time? Just wondering if I should keep monitoring CBR to see if a FD offer opens there or try and wait it out for POR. I'd much prefer POR but FD is hard to pass up if I can get it.

I wasn't really thinking of the free dining for our trip, but was hoping for a room discount. But I don't see anything offered? I have a Garden view booked for the standard rate. I keep trying to call to see if a room discount can be applied, but phones are crazy. Is there any hope of getting a discounted rate at POR for Oct 12-21?

Today is a crazy day down there. If you just want a room discount you should wait till the lines aren't so booked.

Our travel date is just before the FD period... Hope that people who originally planned to go during the same time as us will postpone the trip by one week for the FD and leave a less crowded park for my family.... :worship::worship: would that be just an unrealistic wishful thinking?? :teeth:

It is not a k-cup. I brought the Cafe Diario Dark Roast pods for our trip, and those were the type of pods that the coffee maker in our POR room used. http://www.amazon.com/Cafe-Diario-Heritage-Coffee-Roast/dp/B00MJXH10S

I got a RO discount for a POR royal room in September today, and at the official website it says the discount dates are: For Travel: 8/26 - 10/1 & 10/2 - 11/5. So hopefully your date is included, good luck!

Nothing showed up online to apply for my existing Garden view reservation during those dates. I called and waited on hold for 90 minutes. Talked with two people, put me on hold a few times, and came back with nothing. They said its all sold out. But I don't think anything was ever even available during my dates. What a waste! No discount magic for me.

Don't forget that they only offer discounts to clear room inventory that hasn't sold. So if enough people pre-book at full price anyway (as you have done) they may not feel the need to offer any further late discounts. Did you try seeing if there were any offers on the more expensive rooms, the types may not have sold so well? Port Orleans is a bit of a victim of its own success.

I agree Andre. However a bounce back free dining is too good a deal to pass up. It makes prebooking a joy but probably makes discounts later less likely.

I also just spent 90 minutes on hold to be told it wasn't available for my dates, which is fine. But I found it funny the cast member suggested we switch to another moderate where the discount was available, that would have made our total amount higher. No thank you!

Decided to book CBR to get FD for 12/17 - 12/22. So grateful to be going to WDW and with an awesome discount for my family ($955) but can't help feeling a little sad that I won't be returning to POR this year. Unless of course the PIN code gods smile on me and include POR (or POFQ) for my dates. I'm still gonna pop in here now and again cause I love it here. :lovestruc

I have heard a lot about the BB-bounce back- offers. You have to book before you check out and put down your initial $200 deposit and you get free dining for your next trip. Does the BB have to be for the same time frame you are in-say September or can you book the BB for any time frame? We are going in September but would love to go back for the Flower Garden Festival in 2017. I also believe that the BB offer maybe in a brochure in your room, if not, just call the front desk???

Correct, just ask for a leaflet (from housekeeping even) if there isn't one supplied, or just call the number anyway and see what they offer you. You are not limited to just your current period, in fact it's probably unlikely that the offer will go that far in advance anyway (normally the offer period is released in blocks, quite often less than a year away).
