Resort Thread Disney's PORT ORLEANS FRENCH QUARTER Resort

We use our MB for all purchases and then use gift cards to pay off the charges
Do you do this at the front desk of the hotel or where and when? I just don't want to charge everything and then not be able to pay it off with all the gift cards.

Yes, at the Hotel Desk. I mentally keep track of the ball park amount we charge.
They will charge the card when you reach the spending limit at the resort (I think it's $1000 at Mods) or the wee hours of the morning on check out day, whichever comes first.
As long as we aren't doing some out of the ordinary purchasing I go by the desk every couple of days and pay off the charges so far.
Then, if I have any cards left, I go the last night and pay off whatever if left.
Any charges on the final day go on our card on file.
If you do find out they have run the card for some reason they can reverse the charges and use your gift card. I had to do this one time at BC when I forgot to stop by the last night.

Hello,

I'm trying to find out if you can fit a laptop in the safe at Port Orleans French Quarter. Anyone know? Thanks!

Use your suitcase as a safe. Most of us dont have locks with TSA rules making it a pain..but I bring one in my suitcase and then use it to lock it in the room. I then keep spare cash souvenirs, etc. there.

Thanks AngiTN! I think I will definitely do this too.

Any updates on the completion of the food court? Another thread I'm following said it should be completed by today (Nov. 1st) but the last few comments here seem to indicate it was nowhere near completion. Is anyone there now that could give an update?

Thanks!
Looked through the door last week and it looks like they're racing to get it done by Thanksgiving. Workers were there daily already when I walked past each morning around 7:30 (I don't believe they started to make any considerable noise until after 8).

Thanks everyone for your thoughts--that would be awesome if the food court is done!

I've done my online check in and requested the option on early arrival, to have the room ready early. If I choose that I can't pick anything else. I plan on getting TP to fax one in for me. I have a garden view room, and we are staying with another group, kind of wanted a top floor.
Does anyone know what block of rooms might be cleaned and ready first? Or do they all get a cleaner or two first thing in the AM. Thought if I picked that block it might get me in the room early and a nap. My flight lands at 12

If you want a room ready early then just say room ready early during online check in. And with TP fax. I wouldn't put anything else beyond that. In the text of the fax state that you want any Garden view room that is ready early, no matter where it is. (if anywhere is really ok)

Asking for early room access overrides requests. They will try to find you a room for when you arrive, but at the expense of providing whatever is currently available rather than asking you to wait around until something matching your requests happens to be free. You can always ask anyway, but don't be too disappointed if you get a randomly located room.

We've never used the on-line check in. What is the advantage? We always send in our fax and I like to be able to ask in person for something else if our requests aren't met.

You can let them know your approximate arrival time so they can try to have your room ready for you. The flight we usually take gets us to our resort around 9:30AM and ever since Online Check In started we have always had a room ready for us. Though that's not guaranteed.
It speeds up the check in process once you arrive as all the administrative stuff is done.
There's a possibility that you can get your room number texted to you before you arrive and Bypass The Front Desk.
Even if you do Online Check In you can still stop by the Front Desk and ask for something else if you don't like your room.

You can still ask in person if your requests aren't met even with online check in. Online check in guests aren't forbidden from going to the front desk or anything.
If you do like what you get you can skip the front desk all together, if you get your room number via fax
If you've ever arrived at the same time as a ME full you can see the advantage of skipping the front desk.
Otherwise, it doesn't serve a lot more than a fax does.
