Resort Thread Disney's Club Level (CL) Thread

Just got back from a week in a standard view CL room at Yacht Club. Feel free to ask me any questions you many have :-)

Can you please expand on the ALLERGY procedure? Do you mean for the club lounge? We will be staying CR CL in October with our boys who both have a peanut allergy and are intolerant to artificial colors, flavors and preservatives. We were going to email the club level support staff with give them a heads up about the peanut allergy. It's not airborne, so that's good. We needed a little information on the other foods to get an idea of what they can eat (if anything). Thanks!
Two factors are widely misunderstood about allergies, so allow me to inform others:
1. Allergies are a reaction to a protein. If someone is allergic to peanuts, then they are allergic to the peanut protein, more or less whether it is inhaled or eaten.

2. The second important component to allergies is the threshold amount. You need to ingest a certain quantity to trigger a reaction. Many people are allergic to grass pollen, but only suffer a reaction part of the year. SOME grass pollen is in the air year-round, but the amount is variable. Different people have different thresholds, and some people have more sensitive skin, lungs or stomachs than others.

3. Most allergic reactions are variable over time. Peanut is a bit of an exception: it (almost) never goes away. Many people outgrow pollen allergies and asthma; others get worse. Sadly, peanut reactions can get worse over time.

To answer your question, yes, in the above post I meant Club level. Just a few weeks ago, someone asked about CL+allergies, and I posted about the old procedure. My most recent post was intended to amend my previous post. On prior visits, the procedure was to always have a chef come up in person. Guests are now able to fill out a paper form.

For us, that was enough to meet our needs. I can't say 100%, because we didn't ask to talk to a chef, but I think you can still request an in person meeting.

We only did two ADR's this trip. We were given printed menus at both which listed allergen-free options. (As in, these food items are free of wheat, soy, dairy, and nuts.) At Tutto Italia, the chef also came to our table. At Narcoosee's, the chef didn't come by, but we didn't ask. It is funny in retrospect, because TI is a regular TS, and Nacoosee's is supposed to offer signature service. While Narcoosee's was okay, we felt far more pampered at TI! All around excellent service!

If you'd like more detailed information about WDW+allergies, I suggest the DISabilities section of the DIS. Last I checked, there were multiple threads that listed exactly what food brands WDW uses.

I also always tell folks, if you have a car, there's a great Whole Foods at Sand Lake Drive. It is between WDW and US; very close to US. The easiest way to get there is to take the north exit from the airport on your way out of the airport. Universal's TS and their CL's are also great about helping guests with allergies. In short, each hotel has one main kitchen. If you see something prepackaged listed as offered at Chef Mickey's/Wave/Contempo, the CL staff should be able to get it for you.

Welcome Back!! ☺️ Did you enjoy the YC CL and where the food offerings good? I'm looking forward to my first stay next Nov 2017 ☺️ Hoping I'll love it!

We've stayed at BC, YC and BWI but have only stayed CL at BWI and BC. We prefer these resorts during Food & Wine for convenience to Epcot. Also, my husband spends his Saturdays in the fall watching college football so he usually spends part of the day at ESPN Club and prefers that it is only a short walk or boat ride away.

As I said in the OP, staying CL but not actually being on that floor was not as enjoyable (Beach Club this year). Our room was on the first floor, which was very convenient for the International Gateway but to go to the lounge, we had to walk the entire length of the resort to the elevator bank to get there. My kids were 10 & 12 at the time and I was unwilling to let them go on their own. We have our routines, where my hubby and boys get dressed and go to the lounge leaving me to get ready in peace, both for breakfast and before we head to the parks in the evening. My husband will bring me some breakfast/snacks and wine to enjoy while I am getting dressed. It just was not as easily accomplished while on another floor and there were days where we did not even visit the lounge.

Thanks for the comment, I think we might try YC CL next year.
I think your going to love it!

Last night was not a good night in the CR Tower... There was a HUGE crowd of people that were here for what I can only assume a party... They took over a 1 BR Suite but also the lounge at times. They were rude as all get out... They moved chairs etc from one room to another and several of them bumped into my girl in the hallway ... No "sorry" or anything alike. At some point they also moved a huge keyboard piano into the lounge. It was the most bizarre thing I have witnessed. We did not hear them much in the room...

I really want to say something but don't want them to think I want something for free... I just don't want another evening like this... Plus we are so happy here and Idont know if a complaint is warranted over one thing when usually everything is amazing...

If it was just one night, I probably wouldn't say anything. But if it's going on tonight & interfering with you & other guest's happiness & comfort, I think you should say something. No one group no matter what they are celebrating should be able to take over the lounge that's for all CL guests.

I would say something. You can not accept anything if they offer you - or you can say that you are not looking for anything - that you just wanted them to know. I have to think that they would appreciate hearing what their guests are feeling especially that you are not doing it to get anything.

We're here too! I'm wondering what family you are now -- were the hard to miss group with the big guys -- and I'd like to preface our group grows by 4 today! Anywho, we asked and they are a part of the night of joy celebration. Something happened to their reservation and they had to accommodate them up on 14 for their reception last night!
Sorry about your little girl!

Hope you had a great trip :wizard:.

To those staying CR Tower Club right now, I hope the big party/reception was a one time thing and the lounge will be a little quieter for the rest of your time there :flower3:.

The Contemporary is a convention resort. They have plenty of rooms for parties. They must have just gone what was easy and thought other guests would have to just deal with it.

I hope things settle down and guests have a nice experience from here on out.

Does CL (specifically BC since that is where we are staying) offer bottled water? Debating on if I need to add a Publix stop on our way in!
Generally the WDW CL's do not provide bottled water. The Universal CL's do. The Hard Rock themed water bottles are kind of special!

Last month, to our surprise, Cr CL actually DID give us ONE 24ounce bottle of water, but with temps in the 90's, that was a drop in the bucket. (Sorry for the pun.)

The CL's DO provide a decanter of filtered ice water and cups (including Styrofoam cups), plus canned beverages and apple juice boxes.

In addition to Publix, there are many options in the area. A simple one is the Hess stations right on WDW property. The one near the AAA Car Care Center has the best selection of water, IME.

Thanks to everyone for your input! I am a very heavy water drinker - I swear I drink 5 gallons during the office week... SO I think I'll be stopping at Publix to pick up a case or two for our week stay. This will also be good to take into the parks since it is so hot out!

Yacht or Beach Club club level? Which do you prefer and why? We stayed at BC club level this year however we chose a 1 bedroom suite and were on a different floor a mile down the hallway from the elevator banks. Resort was fantastic, room was very nice but due to our room location, we didn't make it to the lounge as often as we have at other resorts. This time, we are booking ON the club level floor!
We liked both. I think it is important to understand, internally WDW considers them one resort, with one central kitchen. They have much in common.

We stayed at BC both pre- and post-renovation, and it is much larger now. I'm not sure if they have done or plan to do anything to the YC lounge since our stay. We liked the new BC lounge very much. An important feature of any CL lounge, IMO, is having a bathroom. BC and YC both have bathrooms. (CR's doesn't!)

The staff at BC/YC has always been our favorite. IMO, most of the CL offerings are the same/similar property-wide. They all have a continental breakfast (fruit, yogurt, oatmeal...), appetizers (dumplings, cheese, veggies, bread, beer, wine...) and fun desserts in tart-sized portions. At all resorts, the menus change over time. We just got back from CR CL, and the menu had many small changes from our prior CR stays.

You could choose based on the décor, but we've also seen bedding/room décor changes at multiple resorts.

They are both nice.

We also drink a lot of water when it is warm.

If I may, I suggest you also buy a six pack of electrolyte water. We only drank regular water until the 3rd day, but quickly noticed a difference after we had some of the electrolyte water.

Can I ask what difference the electrolyte water makes? Does it taste different? Never heard of it in the uk! Thanks

Electrolyte water's contain sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium which replenish what you lose through perspiration. It helps your body recover in the heat or after exertions such as sports or exercise. One of the best known brands here in Canada (and I suspect in the US as well) is Smart Water. Another containing naturally occurring electrolytes is (my fav) Fiji Water.

Believe it or not, chocolate milk is a great source of electrolytes as well. ;)

Thank you! Interesting re chocolate milk!

You should try coconut water. It re-hydrates better than Gatorade. My wife swears by it!

I've heard coconut water is supposed to be very good for you, but didn't know it re-hydrates better than Gatorade. Very good to know, thanks :goodvibes.
