Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend September 4-6, 2015 10th Anniversary

I think they're adorable! I couldn't run in them though but I might get some for walking anyway.

That's what I did w/ the Tink ones, they're my park shoes.

How'd yesterday go? Weather was awesome!! Did you see the homeless guys chasing runners on after the 10k turn around? They were hilarious! :rotfl:

New Balance announced today Donald shoes for the weekend. They're also doing kids shoes of these and the Tink ones. And like they did at Tink, Thurs the virtual queue is for runners only and you have to add in your bib #, and Fri and Sat you won't need your bib #. I really like them and the little black ribbon on the back. Here's a basic look and then the article below.

Less than 2 weeks!!!

I like them too. Confession here...I have not even worn my Tinker Bell shoes that I purchased in May that I JUST HAD TO HAVE. :rolleyes1I really should try them out before I even think about the Donald ones. :sad2:

Starting to pack now !!!

How did your race go??

I'm slowly starting to pack now too. My list has been done since last week, but I keep adding stuff I forgot.

Race was good. A little tight once the speedy 10kers were on their way back b/c we were on one side of the street and it was 2 lanes, but good. We went straight down Embarcadero, up a 3 tiered hill at Ghirardelli Square to Marina Green then straight down just short of the base of the bridge and back. We had fog, but not heavy so we got to see the entire towers of the bridge. And what's funny or more so embarrassing, in all the times I've run up there and run by Chrissy Field, I never until yesterday realized or noticed that the Palace of Fine Arts was right across the street! :headache: I mean you see it on the way out and back but I never noticed it right there before.

hahahahaha no I did not! That would have been hilarious though! Weather was beautiful! Race went really good. Was with a friend who runs less than me so we probably ran about 5k of the 10k which is what I wanted to do. Love the medal, love finishing on the field, love the free beer! Definitely glad I signed up. How did you do? Did you have fun? Oh and love the race shirt too!

Half of my work schedule is out for race weekend (I'll find out what I work after running the half on Friday, so this will be interesting) which means it is definitely getting super close! I am beyond not ready, but I'm pretty sure I say that with each race.

After my emails with runDisney it sounds as though I won't be able to print my waiver at home and will have to do it at the Expo. This does not help my obsessive need to plan/do something/know for sure that I'm starting in the last corral, etc.

I did okay. Not where I wanted to be, but I'm at the tail end of a bad cold so I hadn't been out for almost 2 weeks and my lung capacity was low, but so glad I did it. And the field?! I haven't done it in a few and don't remember them letting us chill on the field that was AWESOME! Just chillin, hanging out in left, no big deal. I love the shirt too! I'm pretty sure that one won't be used as a running shirt.

Sorry about not being able to print out your waivers, that would freak me out too. But they confirmed you're in though, right? And you'll do fine race day! You've done that distance a lot and you know the course so you know what to expect and where.

Are you all moved into the apartment now?

They pulled up my information from my registration, so at least that was confirmed. Basically, this was the last response that I received:

"We appreciate your inquiry about downloading your waiver. We have made the appropriate updates with Runner Relations. While at the runDisney Health & Fitness Expo, complimentary waiver printing stations will also be available. Here, they will be able to provide the most up-to-date waivers."

I'm just impatient. Can it be next week already?

And yes, I am all moved in to the new apartment. My roommates still have a few pieces of furniture to bring up (aka the COUCH!!). But everything is out of my old place except for the things I am donating (lots of clothes and lots of books I didn't know I had. It's such a relief to be in the new place. And I'm pretty sure we run by my new complex during Tink.

I'm glad you got out there and did it! I hope you're starting to feel better so you can be where you want to be for DL!

Thanks! It should be, it's almost all gone now, just a slight cough every now and then nowhere close to the fits I was having and the ear infection is almost gone too.

Kim, your ticker is terrifying me. Is it really only 1 week and 1 day until the race weekend begins? Oh man, it is!!

So, I unfortunately won't be able to make any kind of meet on Saturday like I had originally planned, but if anyone is still interested we can pick a time for you all to meet at Tangaroa Terrace/Trader Sams on Saturday after the 10K. I'm got work from 1045-1915, but at least that should give me time to grab a quick bite to eat and then get sleep before the half on Sunday (which I'll also be working after). It's gonna be a looooooooooong weekend.

Hi Belle Ella,
Please count me IN for the 1/2...it's my first one ever. Yikes!

Hi, everyone. Somewhat new here and didn't realize that there are RunDisney threads. Just found this one. Me and my running buddy are signed up for the Dumbo Double Dare. Can't wait. It's only a week and a half away. I'm pumped. Been doing my training and now I'm a bit anxious to do the run. It'll be our first Half. We did the Star Wars 10K earlier this year and we're signed up for it next year as well (can't do the Half because of work on that day).

Looking forward to seeing you all there (along with the thousands and thousands of of other Disney fans!!).

I saw the images for the Dooney Bags and I'm torn. While I love the fact they're not white (seriously - a white bag is doomed to get dirty), I'm not certain that I'm 100% sold on the design. They're cute but just don't scream "BUY ME NOW" like some of the other designs. Maybe they will look different in person and I can find one with a great section of the pattern (i'd love it if I could get the smallest bag with lots of 5K/Donald on the front because I'm running the 5K) but I was hoping for.. more?

I was kinda hoping for more too, but my wallet is happy for that. I'm not a big D&B person, I got the retro 1 a few years back and that's been the only 1 that ever peeked my interest. I just thought w/ the 10th/60th it would be a little... I don't know, festive maybe is the word?

Some merch stuff is on the blogs today. Really loving the DDD did it shirt, I think it's the writing.

This time next week, I'll be playing in DL!!! :mickeyjum:mickeyjum And finished up outfits last night so all that's left is packing and a long run on Sat.

I think that's my main problem too. We'll see next Thursday at the Race Expo if I have a change of heart. I'm definitely purchasing a sparkle headband for the 5K - it'll hopefully help me run a bit faster ;)

Oops. I just ran across this thread. Looks like we've been splitting news across two different threads.

Here is the Disneyland Half Marathon thread that's located in the events/competition area. It also has a list of participants. I'll merge the ones here with what we have over there.

I'd also like to extend an invitation to the "Tiki Room" meet-up happening Thursday Sept. 3rd at 4:30pm. If you are in the park that day drop by! If you are going to the Party-in-the-park you can also attend.

I'm finally starting to pack my stuff. Also stalking the weather...it's warming up and so far I don't see any cloud cover for Sun. morning. I swear this is the only time I'm rooting for overcast skies.
