See...I am in the same boat. Looks like when you go through the final steps of purchasing tickets, you don't HAVE to tick the 1-25 big homeschool class. We are REALLY wanting to go on 1-26, and would be able to attend (with bells on). The only 'problem' is that even though you are not attending the main class, you still have to pay for the 'additional' class.

I still want to call on Monday to see if this is OK.

Why should you get the price benefit/ticket benefit of the homeschool ticket if you are not attending the homeschool event?

I think the kids in both situations would be attending the additional class, just not the one on the 25th, because of scheduling conflicts. Since the website is set up to allow registration for the additional class, without the class on the 25th, then I don't see the harm. The kids are receiving education. If we could make it to the 25th, I would be all over it, even with the less than enthusiastic reviews (huge groups, less educational than the smaller classes)...because I love the topic this year. We had to book our flights early, and sadly are one day off. Most likely will just wait until the Individual Enrollment is open, but obviously nervous about not being able to attend the class we're interested in.

Either way, if I get any useful information, I will share on Monday.

I'm still impressed and thankful that Disney does this. The supplemental adventures for adults (think Wild Africa Trek) are crazy expensive vs. free with a ticket discount with YES. Honestly, I would pay to attend the classes if that were an option.

The registration screen begins with the himeschool class checked. If someone can't be bothered to participate in the homeschool class them wait for individual enrollment. People skating the system is the reason the honest people are being penalized by the extra rules in the first place.

The firm also says "additional" classes can be purchased. Classes on top of the homeschool group. Not "in case you just want more cheapy tickets"

The draw for us is not the discounted tickets, it is the class/educational opportunities.

That being said, if you continue through the booking process, beyond the screen you are referring to, you can choose to select classes, and the class on the 25th is not autofilled, it is something one can choose to sign up for or choose not to sign up for.

I can only speak for myself, but I get the impression that people (recent posters) are trying to provide their children with educational opportunities at Disney.

If the draw is the classes then sign up for individual enrollment. Quit manipulating. Enough people have played the game of taking advantage if whatever loophole they could find that honest people are paying.

Did the front desk arrange the cab for you? How much was the cab ride? How early did you get in the cab?

I'm holding off for Individual Enrollment to come out. We ~can~ switch up dates enough to make it to the HSD Engineering program, and may just because it's cool. Our Amtrak would go up by about $200, but that's still in the reasonable range (and still cheaper than flying).

The big issue for me is the 2/1 expiration date on HS tickets (which hopefully won't exist on Individual Enrollment). We travel for about 16 days at a time, and generally get the 8 day with pluses so that we can spread our park days out over the whole trip. Even if we pushed our trip back to make it to HS days program, that would mean we're 8 days from 2/1 and would either have to go to the parks every day without a break and get no pluses or go to each park only once and use pluses.

First world problems...I have them. ;)

I called down to the valet the night before and they said they would have a cab for 7:15am. We woke up late, 7:15am and supposed to be at DHS at 7:45am for the class. We literally jumped out of bed, threw our clothes on and ran down to the valet. The cab was not there (I don't know if they were there at 7:15 since I was so late) it was 7:30 at this point, but the very nice valet radioed over to the cabs and had one there in a couple of minutes. We made it to the studios right at 7:45 am and I ran from the cab stand over to the flag pole to check in which would probably be a 5 minute walk normally. I was happy to see that we were not the latest people, there were two families who showed up right after us. I think the cab cost $17 but I'm not positive. There was a family who showed up after the groups had split up and we had all gone in. Our group was called back to the gate and our group leader talked to the parent and child that was waiting at the gate and I don't know what happened but they didn't join our group. Not sure if they made it into another group or if they were turned away. I will definitely try to do a class again but the 7:45am was a tough one, especially because we did MNSSHP the night before. I'm happy to answer any questions so please ask away.

Thanks for all the info!!! This is what we'll do (well, without the being late part and all;)) (ummm.. I hope)
Did you do the Production Arts class? My grandson was trying to choose between this and the Wildlife class at AK. He thought this one sounded good, and I think it's just right for him.

sorry if this has been discussed previously, I am new to this thread and don't know much about the YES program. Can one sign up to attend one of these programs without purchasing the ticket package -- instead using the tickets they already have? Just pay the fee?

So, just got off the phone with YES CS rep and was surprised to find out that the Homeschool events are open to ALL children. I was asking for a friend who eschools her oldest (so flexible to travel during school year), and she stated that they advertise to Homeschool groups, but that it is open to all children. I asked her a couple of times, a couple of different ways, same answer.

She also stated that 2013 HS days went live last Friday and that IE should be live very soon.

She was unaware of the ability to sign up for HS add on day without the actual HS event, didn't say this was OK or not. She stated that once you go with HS days, you can't switch to IE. She was under the impression that the system did not permit one to sign up for add-on without the HS event, so I interpret that doing so is a No No.

Here's to hoping everyone finds a class/ticket scenario that works for their families!!! I am just bummed to miss the Engineering HS event. We have a family of big and little engineers : )

That was what the email I received said. The reason the time limits are on that class is because of the homeschool special event. Hopefully they close the loophole rather than make even more rules for next year. They also said that the individual enrollment tickets would be available for up to a month.

My kids did the animation magic class. They said they would not do it again. I was with DD's class and she was certainly enjoying it when she was there. DS was with DH so I'm sure they were goofing off the whole time. It was the only class available when I was signing them up. If the wildlife class was available I would have signed them up for that instead, my kids are big animal lovers.

I was thinking of doing the individual enrollment. How do homeschool days differ?

Homeschool days are based on the homeschool event. They are a bit cheaper usually because the "class" is a large group with families. That is why you pay for any if the other classes, not getting a "freebie."

I was wondering where you could even sign up or buy tickets for this event now? Everywhere I look it says ticket prices are coming soon and the add on classes list is coming soon. Could you post a link if you have it if I wanted to sign up today for the homeschool event on the 25th of Jan?
