I'm back from Target with good news and bad news..
I stopped at customer service and she combined my Cardpool cards into one physical Target GC. So far so good. None of them were flagged.
I went and got my Southwest GCs and some wine glasses for a gift that I needed. Paid with the Target GC ($193), no problems until I tried to put the balance owed on my Red Card. And it was denied! I ended paying the $10 balance with my personal debit card and moved on.
So, it looks like I am banned from ordering online and from using my Debit Red Card.
My conclusion is that the GCs from Cardpool were okay. Wouldn't they just deny them if they thought they were fraudulent? I think for whatever reason, my new spending pattern tripped something up at Target. I think that is why they want to verify my identity. I'm now leaning toward providing that information to get this straightened out. I would like to use my Red Card in the future even if its not for gift card churning. I am just baffled how they let some spend tens of thousands of dollars with no issues and then some get banned.
Any other insights or points of view?
