Disney Gift Card Deals

Yep. It's so that you don't immediately then go buy another $300 in gift cards at 10% off with the $300 you just bought at 10% off and so forth and so forth.

Right, I understand the why...I guess just wondering if it is something they say but the gift cards are actually active sooner than they say.

Got another 40 GCs today from Target! I got all I could find (looked everywhere), but the inventory still said they had over 200.

The cashier was so nice and a math wiz and broke my purchase up into multiple purchases and calculated how many should be in each purchase so that I could use the GCs I was buying to buy the rest without any leftover GCs! Very happy! And I got a free smoothie with my red card!

Thanks wendow for letting us know about the upcoming Target GC promo!

Has anyone ordered an ebay gift card from Target lately? If so, how long are they taking to e-mail the card? I usually get it within an hour, but I ordered one this morning and still haven't received it. I need to pay for something I bought this morning so I'm hoping there is not a problem.

My very last one, last Tuesday, took a few hours, but a few purchases I made around Thanksgiving took days.

Thanks! Just for a data point mine just came. Almost exactly 2 hours after order...now to just wait for it to activate.

I made one last Disney GC run late last night, and the Target that's always a bit of a pain when it comes to limits is now even worse. Their new rule is 5 like gift cards per person. It wasn't a big deal this time since I only found 10 of the $25 cards anyway. I bought 4 in electronics, and then talked them into letting me buy 6 at the front register since I needed an even number for the promotion.

When I asked why the limit they said it was to stop people from flipping for profit. Is there enough profit in this deal for that to make sense? Not for me! Anyway, I made the point that under their new rule I could buy a total of $500 if using $100 cards, but only $125 if using $25 cards, so it didn't really make sense. That just flustered them though. lol

I thought the sale last year for the $300 in target gift cards for 10% discount was on Black Friday? Were there two similar sales last year?

It was Black Friday for sure, that's when I got mine. I don't know if they offered it again closer to Christmas or not.

I wish I would have found this thread sooner! I just went today to buy some Disney GC at target. I missed out on the promo :( The few times I've been in there have always been plenty of gcs around. Definitely have been more options with the Christmas displays out.

I know you can use the gift cards in the Disney restaurants. Does anyone know if you can use the gift cards for the gratuity when you eat there? That will factor in to how many I buy. Thanks.

Out of curiosity, the Disney card promo that just passed was not offered online, just in store, correct?

Doing comparisons in my head of that promo vs. the rumored 10% off target GC coming up including cashback and the works.

Correct, it was in store only.

For me the 10% is slightly better. For both deals I purchased/will purchase Target gift cards at Kroger. For the last deal Kroger had 4x fuel points which they aren't running now and I used up everything I purchased. Both deals were 10% off if you were able to buy the $25 gift cards. The advantage of this deal is you can use the Target gift card purchased on the 20th to buy Disney gift cards online with your red card as default payment so it's an extra 5% off.

Gotta love that Target customer service logic!!!

The deals are essentially the same. Any other deals you could do to get additional discounts could be done either way.

The downside to the $25 deal is the number of cards you have to deal with. The downside to the upcoming deal is the chance that Disney cards could go out of stock online.

I agree.

I see the 10% off Target GC next week as another method of churning Target GC or buying Discounted Target GC. There are always many different ways of doing it.

Converting Target GC to Disney GC will always be a 5% (Red Card Discount) regardless how much you churn Target GC around and around. With the 2x $25.00 to get $5.00 Target GC "rebate," you spend $45.00 Target GC for $50.00 Disney GC, which is a 10% conversion rate.

The conversion of Target GC to Disney GC has always been the bottleneck in savings because it does not change. I don't think we will see another Disney GC conversion discount until next holiday season.

They are the same unless you are starting both transactions with a Target gift card you purchased at discount. Then next week's ad is better.

ETA: I got Disney gift cards for 19% off last week and next week I should be at 20% off. I'm estimating the Target gift cards I bought at Kroger cost $0.89/$ last week vs. $0.93/$ next week (since no 4x fuel points). If I had gotten the same discount on target gift cards, next week would have been much better.

Just to make sure I understand best approach to the upcoming Target deal (save 10% on $300 in Target GCs):

- Can you buy Target GC's with Target GC's? (ie, should I stock up on discounted Target GC's ahead of time?)

- Assuming the deal is available online, can you get the the 5% red card savings on the purchase?

- What is to stop you from doing it online and in-store? Or going to multiple stores?

Thanks!
