Disney Dream was amazing, but lacking in just one area.

You just totally summed up my lifestyle right now also. I am also up at 4:30 with a stressful job and two very busy kids. I can't wait until April to enjoy some family time and some R&R with my hubby while the kids are enjoying the kids clubs!:cool1:

The song was superman by Eminem. Maybe not the best choice, but some people had done some rap songs earlier in the night so I figured it would be ok. The DJ even laughed when I requested it. He must not have realized how bad it was lol.

I'm glad that other people share the same opinions as me. I can't stress enough how beautiful the ship was, but if I had to chose I would probably wait until after I have kids (A long time from now) to sail DCL.

I have a 3 and 7 year old and to stay up til 9 or 10 for them is stretching it. And to have them sleep, we have to go to sleep too.

On the first night, we had woken up at 5am to get to the airport to take the plane to the bus to the ship, so we were all pretty exhausted and crashed at 9. And the pirate night, we were also exhausted and fell asleep way before the fireworks. The last night, I was trying to get everyone to bed at a decent time so that the next day wasn't horrific while traveling with exhausted kids.

Honestly, I was a little bummed that I missed the fireworks... but I never expected to do any of the nightlife things because you can't leave your kids sleeping alone in your room. It is really unsafe. And it seems that dealing with your kids on vacation with them getting less sleep than normal and being so busy is exhausting.

So, I think Disney had it right for us... there is no way we can party the night away. Even if the kids club was open, our kids needed to be in their beds.

When we were younger we traveled Carnival and RCL and they had TONS of nightlife when I wasn't this exhausted with two kids!h

ouch!! i love some eminem but superman?? to be honest, and don't judge me, if i would have been in the room when that started to play i would have left. its way bad imo. i'm actually surprised they would even have it.
sorry it didn't work out. don't let that stop you from going again. maybe with a group of friends who want to do some pub crawling with you. it could be fun.

yea looking back on it it is really bad. I do songs like that at my local karaoke bar as a joke and everyone thinks its pretty funny. I guess it just depends on the crowd.

A lot if these post surprise me. I have two children and have taken them on DCL once (loved it) and my DBFF have done 3 DCL with ours kids. Actually my DBFF has done 11 DCL cruises and she doesn't have kids. Except for one cruise we have partied pretty good on DCL! We have played adult games in the adult bars that got pretty wild and had a very good adult comedian on the dream in 2011. I hope DCL hasn't toned down its adult night life. Hopefully it is just based on crowd. We see usually the first in the dance floor and the last off even if its just us but we usually make friends who party with us. We set sail on 58 days for a quick 3 mightier with 8 adults and 0 kids and I am looking forward to relaxing by day and partying by night! Love DCL for family vacations and adult only vacations!!

If Disney doesn't want the song sung... TAKE IT OFF THE SYSTEM. They should not "embarrass" their guests by having to stop her. That's just bizarre!

If they want to play "big brother" they need to get organized IMHO! That way the "guest" is not the person who did something wrong!

Sorry, but I think the DCL nightlife has been toned down over the years. They seem unable to risk "upsetting" anyone.

I swear it ends up being the week you go on. I've been on many cruises where they say "Oh, you should of been here LAST week".
It's the luck of the draw. (sigh)

I do wish that they would put in like a Dueling Piano bar.... I love those.

*Him lol, but yea I agree, the DJ even laughed at the song choice and knew it.

Luckily im not shy or anything so I just made a joke on the mic about thinking it was ok because it was 18+.

We sailed on the Fantasy Eastern in January and found that unlike our experiences on the Magic or Wonder, the young man charged with keeping the party going was one of the first ones to leave the club. We traveled without children and had a party of about ten....each night we closed the clubs down. After late dining, we would head to the clubs for the adult show or the game shows- love "Match Your Mate"! We were so surprised that once those structured activities ended, the crew left. The DJ was great, the bar staff was wonderful...but the interaction between the entertainment staff and guests was missing. On the Magic last year (Jan. '12 Eastern), Tisa (if memory serves that was her name...sorry, I am terrible with names no matter how much I like you!) was wonderful. We really got to know her quite well between being in the adult pool and entertainment areas. She was out on the dance floor with us til the wee hours.

I get that the Disney demographic isn't to cater towards a party atmosphere and I still choose Disney hands down. I love everything about the ship, but with so many beautiful spaces built with adults in mind, they really don't get used to their potential. And for what it is worth, there were large groups in the clubs after the shows on our cruise and they wanted to keep the fun going. We had a ball!

I guess a lot of it does have to do with the groups on the ship. Kind of a luck of the draw thing.

Very true...but having staff out to keep the vibe going is very helpful. While the staff danced it was great. When they left, the party often died down shortly afterwards. It would likely help if they station staff there at least until 12:30 or 1:00.

Love the idea of a dueling piano bar...how fun would that be?

And while I do really appreciate how hard cast members work, I have to agree that if they stuck around a bit longer it might help to keep the party going! One of the nights after the majority of guests cleared out, it was just our party and a few others in The Tube. Since we found those chairs to be absolutely the most uncomfortable things in the world and the dance floor was empty, we made our way up to the bar. We had a great time talking with the bartenders...two of the young adults in our party were bartenders themselves, so they swapped drink recipes that we just had to taste-test. From that night on, we were greeted by name and they even remembered our drinks. We aren't big drinkers...for our group, having a place to hang out and enjoy meeting new people was the draw.

On the Wonder a couple weeks ago and noticed the same thing.... by midnight the ship was locked up tight.
Patiently waiting until November when DH and I are sailing on NCL and then RCCL or CEL with best friend again.

The magic and wonder used to have a dueling piano bar - and some great performers. On the magic it was called "upbeat " if my memory is correct. They also did improv in there. The space on the ship is now called "Diversions". When they transitioned out the dueling pianos, there were a lot of upset people, but not enough to have DCL rethink the change.
