Hello fellow cruisers!

Now that the holidays are coming to an end, it's time to start the cruise planning. Yea!

This will be my family's (Chris, Kat & Kaitlyn's) third cruise. We did the "Fish Extender" (FE) gift exchange on the last two cruises, and my daughter loved it. So, we'd like to do it again on this cruise. I have started making the gifts and I'm also making a new FE wall organizer for us and also one for my sisters' cabin.

We have invited the extended family with a total of four cabins, but only two will be in the FE gift exchange.

Cabin 10166:
DH - Chris
DW - Kat
DD - Kaitlyn (8 yrs old)

Cabin 10164:
DAunt - Leslie
DM - Shelley
DD - Jayden (6 yrs old)

Please let me know if someone is setting up the FE list and if a private Facebook group has been started yet.

Let the fun begin!

Kat

I am so very excited. This is our first Disney Cruise and I have been looking forward to this for over a year already. Is this a place to sign up for fish extenders or just talk? Does anyone know if children can do the 5k on the island? I have a 5 and 9 year old that have done races at disneyland and was hoping they can do it on the island.

You can sign up here for the Fish Extender Gifts exchange. Make sure you put names, ages, allergies (if any) of all guests. This way it gives everyone an idea of what gifts to make.

This will be our second Disney cruise, and I can't wait for it to get here. We didn't know about the fish extender exchange last time, and we are looking forward to participating this year:

Dad - Jesse (39)
Mom - Michaelle (38)
Daughter - Olivia (3)

Hello everyone for the September 26-30, 2016!

This will be my family's FIRST EVER cruise (on any ship). I (Jenny typing here) actually cruised on the Disney Dream at the beginning of this Jan with some friends & extended family (we booked it primarily because of the Castaway Cay challenge). However, in January that was my FIRST cruise on any cruise ship. And...It was so amazing that, while I was still on the ship, I booked 2 staterooms for my family which fortunately corresponds to the kids' school fall break in September. Plus it will be my birthday a few days later so...why not go on a cruise?! :)

While on board in January, my cousin told me about the "Fish Extender" (FE) gift exchange. It sounded like so much fun that my family and I would love to participate!!! I am totally new to these forums and FE group, etc. If any of you veterans out there could please give me toddler-like instructions (haha) as to what I need to do for the FE forum and gifts or if there is a different link for that (like on FB) or if everyone on this link is now automatically in the FE group then please lmk. Thanks so much!!!

SR 7578 & SR 7580:
Dad- Charles
Mom- Jenny
son- Ian (10 1/2 yrs old)
daughter- Abbie (9 yrs old)
son- Eli (7 yrs old)
son- Austin (5 1/2 yrs old)

**these will be their ages at cruise time**
None of us have any food or dye allergies

I can't believe I still have to wait 8 more months: it's like waiting for Christmas morning. Again, if anyone is setting up a separate FE list or if a private Facebook group has been started yet, please let me know. Thanks.

Looking forward to livin' the "Dream" in September!

-Jenny

It appears there are a number of you who are interested in a Fish Extender group. There isn't one currently set up here on DISboards. Here's a little write up on how FE groups are set up:
Setting up FE group

There's really no "rules" as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/favorite character/favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will "close". Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will either post the list (usually via a conversation is best, as that's more private), or directly on the Cruise Meet thread, to confirm everyone on it is still participating. It’s important to make a statement about "anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped" at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as the reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a "pixie dust" list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their "final" list. Be sure the "pixie dust" list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other "biggie" is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this:
http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

As it seems there are a few here on your cruise meet thread who would be interested in doing this, who’s going to step up and volunteer to maintain the list?

I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations and don't have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

Hi everyone... This is my third Disney cruise and I've participated in the FE exchange on the first two cruises. FUN!!!!

I hope there's no objections, but I've created a spreadsheet to start tracking the FE gift exchange participants.

So far, we have 8 state rooms:

9586, 9584, 2521, 10166, 10164, 12028, 7578 & 7580.

Question for GA6lovesDW... 7578/7580... Will both rooms have a door FE or will there be one door FE for both rooms? If both doors, than which names go with which rooms?

If you would like to participate in the FE Gift Exchange, please provide:

State room #
First names of occupants
Title... Dad, mom, son, daughter, etc.
Ages of kids, ages of adults is optional
Allergies, Y or N, if yes: what kind/who
Special event or celebration
Favorite Disney character

For those on the list already, please provide any of the above info, if not already provided.

If you join the FE, but then cancel the cruise... PLEASE come back and let us know.

The list will be organized into groups at 3 months out. By this time, everyone should be paid-in-full for the cruise. Everyone must confirm again to stay on the list. Once confirmation is done, the final list will be sent to participants. We will aim for no more than 20 rooms per list. We are currently filling Group 1.

The cut-off for the last group can be flexible, as there may be others that book the cruise less than 3 months out that may want to join. We can work with these families, as this is mostly for the kids. My family booked our last cruise just over a month out and we were allowed to join a close FE group. I will always be grateful.

So, send me your info and start planning, creating, crafting, shopping for the FE...

Thank you so much for organizing! We are excited for our 4th cruise!

Welcome to the group!

I'll put your family on the FE list. My favorite things about the FE is having something to do when it's too early to pack, and to watch my girl hunt down rooms and excitedly leave our gifts. There's a detective game on the ship, so we play when passing out the FE gifts. (At least there is on the Fantasy, but it should be on the Dream too.)

If you're on the list and haven't participated in the FE before.... Make sure to get or make your actual FE (Fish Extender) for the stateroom door. Check out sites like Etsy and EBay for ideas...

Ordered our Star Wars FE today! Now to hunt for gifts!

My husband wanted Star Wars... but was over-ruled by the Princess Power.

I made our last FE holder... It was Rapunzel themed... Naturally, my daughter wants a new one... lol. I am making one this year that has the ability to change out the character theme for future cruises without having to make a completely new FE holder. I'm also making the same kind for my 6 year old niece. She wants a Frozen theme, but it can also be changed out later when the next princess steals Elsa's fame.

I ordered some iron-on embroidered patches from Etsy shops... just waiting for them to arrive to attach to the FE holders. The other one is Ariel themed.

What a cute idea! I don't have a crafty bone in my body! I have all boys so I'm the one who gets over ruled!

We have a third room with just "grammie" in it. Have you seen single fish extenders? Thinking I might get her one too
