Hello! I'm new to these forums, Disney, DCL... all of it! But we just booked our first Disney cruise on the Disney Dream for 5/23/16 and are so excited! We're a family of four (mom, dad, big brother age 3, little brother will be 9 months for the cruise) and will be cruising after spending a couple of days at the parks first. Looking forward to "meeting" you all here and possibly on the ship also!

I'm very new too all Disney too. I just booked our trip. We have an 8 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. First time cruisers for my husband and kids. We're keeping it a surprise until we see the boat. I can't wait to see their faces!

Hello! We just booked this Cruise & are so excited!!! We have done Disney World & Animal Kingdom the last two years. I have been reading these forums over the last few months looking at different tips, etc. I am going to share the link to this thread under the 2016 Disney Dream Cruises so others can find us! My Husband & I will be traveling with our 2 daughters (ages 4 & 5 when we travel). My husband & I did a Carnival Cruise two years ago to Nassau & loved Atlantis! The kids pool is awesome & the beach area is perfect! But we're most excited about Castaway Cay!!!

Have you guys read about the Fish Extenders and little gifts you can give/receive from other guests on the cruise? I think it sounds like a neat thing!

Very excited too! We are booked! First time cruisers. I have twin 5 year olds and a 7 year old- all girls!!

I'll participate in the fish extenders. The kids will love it. I've been checking some out on etsy since I'm not the greatest with a sewing machine.

Hi everyone!

For those posting in this Cruise Meet thread to join a FE, if no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, anyone can organize the FE right in this thread and just share a pdf document through a private conversation confidentially with just those who want to join in! You do need to have posted ten times in order to be able to start a private conversation with another user - to accomplish this quickly, please visit our Welcome Board (http://www.disboards.com/forums/welcome-to-the-dis.83/) where you'll see the "test posts" thread for assistance.

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine managing meet and Fish Extender discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is completely up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM (conversation).

PLEASE review the Cruise Meet Policy regarding Cruise Meet and Fish Extender programs. - http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3353477

Enjoy!

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Please don't hesitate to let us know if you need any help getting started!

Hi there! I've been on one cruise, but this will be my first Disney. I'm SO excited! I'm a recently divorced mom and I'll be taking my daughter (7) and son (4). I haven't told them yet, but they will be beyond thrilled! I've read that you can request dinner seating with another single parent family. Is there a way to request this online now? Or do I just go to guest services once onboard?

Hello everyone! Excited to finally be booked on this cruise! We have a group of 7 going which includes my husband and I as well as my cousin, her husband, and their 3 kids (16, 16, and 7). This will be the 2nd Disney cruise for most of us, but the 5th Disney cruise for my husband (even though he is grumpy about all things Disney). We frequently do Disney World and are ready for another cruise. Ready for some rest and relaxation!

Hey Y'all! We just got booked!! Can't wait. We are a family of 6, going with a group of about 13 total family members. We all went on the Dream last year for a 3 night and LOVED IT!!! I'm interested in the fish extender thing, but not really sure how involved it gets. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the Castaway Cay 5K; and the kids can't wait to get to the clubs!.....and my wife said we'll have more time this year bc we don't have to meet Anna and Elsa!!! YAY!!

Hello all! So excited to be going on our first cruise ever! We r a family of 4 traveling with a much larger group. Has anyone organized the FE? Would love to be part of the group.

I'll participate in the fish extenders.

Has anyone organized the FE? Would love to be part of the group.

I would also love to participate in fish extender.

There's no Fish Extender group set up here on DISboards, yet. Here's some info about setting one up:

SETTING UP A FE GROUP
It appears there are a number of you who are interested in a Fish Extender group. There isn’t one currently set up here on DISBoards. Here’s a little write up on how FE groups are set up:

There really are no “rules” as to how a FE program runs. Basically someone maintains the list of those who wish to participate. The group can decide on what information is necessary to produce FE gifts. A basic list may only have DISname/room number/number of people in the room. A more involved list could be first & last names/ages/room number/ favorite character/ favorite color/allergies/whatever is deemed necessary to know in order to create the gifts. Also a decision can be made as to size of FE group. Some groups break out the list(s) at 10-15 rooms max, so that there are multiple lists (and some people will participate in more than one list). Other groups just make one big list (upwards of 20-30 rooms).

At some point the list will “close”. Typically this happens 30-45 days out from the cruise, so that everyone participating has time to organize/prepare their gifts. Shortly before this time (about 2-3 weeks prior) the organizer will post the list, either directly on the Cruise Meet thread, OR via private conversation, or, possibility, via e-mails. This is to confirm everyone on the list is still participating. It’s important to make a state about “anyone not confirming by XX date will be dropped” at this time. A little harsh, yes, but often there are people who will post on the cruise meet thread as soon as they reserve the cruise and say “I want to participate”, and are never heard from again.

Once the list closes, the organizer will post the final list. Also, a decision must be made as to whether to allow late additions. Sometimes there is a “pixie dust” list. That is, basically, a latecomers list that gets posted about a week out from the cruise that others may or may not add to their “final” list. Be sure the “pixie dust” list participants realize they may or may not get gifts from others, but are expected to provide gifts for the other FE participants anyway.

The other “biggie” is no other social media sites are allowed to be linked or search directions posted as to how to find that other site here on DISboards. Please read this: http://www.disboards.com/threads/im...uise-meet-and-fish-extender-programs.3353477/

As it seems there are a few here on your cruise meet thread who would be interested in doing this, who’s going to step up and volunteer to maintain the list?

I will also note, to participate in conversations, everyone needs to have at least 10 posts. For those who wish to use this option for private conversations that don’t have 10 posts yet, head over to the Test Board to post and up your post count. http://www.disboards.com/forums/test-board.88/

Up to 20 people can participate in any given conversation.

Hope this helps.

I just learned about this board. My family of four is looking forward to this cruise. Its our first cruise and family vacation. We have two girls ages 8 and 1.
