Sorry for the long break. I hate being sick! Okay on with the food! For some reason on this day I have a ton of Boma pics and not much of everything else. I thought I took a picture of the schoolbread? Anyway, we spent most of this day in Epcot. For lunch we decided to eat in Mexico. Of course, we had to stop at the Electric Umbrella to get DS his chicken strips and french fries (no pics of this – but it looks like all the other chicken and fries he ate this week).
Lunch – Cantina de San Angel
View from outside seating – very pretty.
Plato Combinacion - chicken taco, beef burrito and a quesadilla served with black refried beans and Mexican salsa – I can’t remember who all ordered this, but several of us did. The quesadilla is the folded one on top, the burrito has the cheese on it and the other is the chicken taco. I was hungry, so I ate everything except the beans (I don’t like beans). Everything was very good. Pretty typical Mexican fare. I especially liked the chicken taco. We all had a churro with our meal. I love churros! As a teenager, I spent two years in Spain (dad was air force) and I remember eating churros. In case, you have never had one – a churro is fried dough rolled in cinnamon sugar – YUM! You can kind of see two churros up there by the drink.
Cantina Nachos - tortilla chips, beef, cheese, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, sour cream, black refried beans – my DD ordered this. It was good! Typical nachos.
I enjoyed the outside CS much more than the inside TS. My family just did not like San Angel Inn last year – too authentic I think. But the CS is regular Mexican food that everyone is used to. A
Snack – Kringla Bakeri og Café
I was not at all hungry, but determined to try School Bread. So I stopped in here and used a snack credit to purchase this delicious treat. I am very sorry, I thought I took a picture of this. Let me try to describe it and you can probably fine a pic somewhere on here. Okay, first of all it is huge. I at on this for 3 days! It is a round sweet white bread about 8 inches in diameter. Inside there is this delicious, thick, sweet custard! Then on top there is a light, sugary glaze with a lot of coconut flakes and another big glop of custard. Since no one in my family likes coconut. I got to eat this all by myself! I highly recommend this pastry, it was better than the one I had from France last year. A
Gelato from Italy
We passed a gelato cart in front of Italy and the cute little guy talked us into trying “the best gelato – better than ice cream – in the world!” I was skeptical – I am a big ice cream fan. The chocolate and vanilla gelatos were very good. Rich, creamy ice cream. I did not care for the lemon, but it was okay. The strawberry was also very good, a little creamier than ice cream. Sorry, no pics here either. If you pass one of these carts, you should try one. A
Later tonight, I will try to post the Boma installment - it is kind of lengthy.
