Dis 10th Anniversary mention - July 2016

It will definitely be that week. Pete was clear about that because that's the week of the actual anniversary. We've also spoken to Pete, Kevin, John, etc. at the meets this year and plans are definitely underway. They just weren't yet at a point (signed contracts and such) that they could tell us any specific details.

Nothing is is definite.

We have plans...but NOTHING is definite.

Thanks for the information @DisneyKevin. Would it be safe from your last couple posts to say it will primarily be around the disney property if everything works out?

There are no definite plans.

I know you are looking for info...but...at this point, there is none.

We are working on things, but nothing is set in stone.

Thanks.

Thank you for the correction/update, Kevin. My apologies for posting the week as being set. I didn't realize that that was still not definite.

Thanks for your posts Kevin and understood nothing is concrete until you/the team say so. Obviously we are excited and hoping to do what planning we can. Definitely get that things take time

Pete's update on todays show was: We don't have exact what or where details but it will be July 22 - 26 (Friday - tuesday). (orlando area in case your reading the first time)

July 25th with be a special live anniversary show (the actual 10th anniversary)

Yep. That's kind of a pain as it spans two work weeks but it is what it is. At least we all have the dates now. It messes with reservations since getting offsite rentals midweek is sometimes a bit more of a challenge but I'm sure we'll find a good place. I'd love to come down for 2 weeks but I want to save the 2-week trip for December along with the podcast cruise.

Have you stayed at the Dreams Villas that Kevin and John own?
They may be able to work something out for you for the anniversary?

No we haven't. We have a couple of favorite places that we stick with generally.
sounds like a reason to go for 1 1/2 or 2 weeks to me :)
Definitely. I'm sure that's what will end up happening. We drive to Florida so if the events are Thursday to Tuesday, we will leave home on Tuesday and return home on Thursday.

I just meant that if you struggled with your regular place/s, they may be able to work something out

Just a quick note that I believe July 22nd is Friday, not Thursday - I think more timeshare type places have rentals starting Friday rather than Thursday (I was able to book one Friday - Friday the 22nd to the 29th. Good luck!

I'll be watching this thread for more info since I don't always get to watch the podcast the same week it's released. I'm tentatively really excited about this. I would never normally head to WDW in July but this might be enticement enough to brave the heat and humidity. I'm pretty confident I can get the time off, just crossing my fingers that maybe some details will be released by mid-January. DD and I are heading to WDW Jan 10 - I have an AP but she does not - if we would be going back in July it would make sense to upgrade her ticket before that trip ends.

What is the weather like at that time of the year? As far as I have experienced, it started to get pretty hot by April....

I was there that same week this summer. Yes it was very hot and humid. But it wasn't unbearable to me. I don't tolerate heat all that well, but I am from Georgia/Alabama, so I am certainly familiar with heat and humidity in the summer. I had a great trip. Just have to stay hydrated and wear cool, quick dry clothing. I even took a small battery operated fan which helped a lot. And I had one of those cooling towels that you can get a little wet and snap it and it gets cold. Huge help as well.

Every year from 2007 to 2014 I think we went for 2 weeks in August. It was basically like vacationing on the sun except more humid.

Basically, we would get an early start, be at the parks for rope drop, and be out by noon or 1pm the latest. Then we'd do indoor stuff, resort hopping, shopping, relaxing at our house, etc. Then we'd head back to the park around 6pm when it started to get a bit less hot and less crowded.

Typical weather at that time will be hot (high 80's at least) and humid with a high likelihood of afternoon thunderstorms.

Ah yes. How could I forget that part? It rains virtually daily during the summer. Typically mid-afternoon and typically for a fairly brief time, sometimes just a few minutes. And those storms can be extremely localized. When I say localized, I mean it may be pouring in Tomorrowland but sunny and dry in Adventureland.
