I just received a notice through Facebook that the Dining Plan has increased the prices to all plans. The QUICK SERVICE has gone up to $44.13 per adult.

For giggles I went to Allears and priced out what my ds17 would typically eat on the plan. $9.49 for breakfast and $10.79 for lunch, adding in a $4.00 snack still only totals $25.00. Not sure how the plan is a good deal anymore.

While I agree the price is exorbitant, using any QS credit on breakfast has ALWAYS been a horrible value. The $10.79 for lunch doesn't look like it includes the dessert and drink either. You need to price out all the components if you're looking to get value out of any plan. Pricing out only what you would normally eat, if what you normally eat is not what is included in the plan, lets you know that the plan is not for you. If you eat like the plan dictates, then it CAN still be a value, but the QS at this price is mostly just the pre-paid, don't have to think about it value.

I was going to do the Deluxe DDP and now with the ticket increase and the DP increase, I am about to rework things to see if I can make the Normal DP work (1QS, 1TS, 1SC). It makes me feel like the savings I got from renting DVC points are nothing now :( The increases are subtle, but more and more increases on every part of the trip adds up fast.

At almost $64 for an adult, if you don't have Disney kids, that's going to be really difficult. Almost all your TS meals would need to be the higher priced character dinners like Akershus and Chef Mickey. The others are right around $44 for dinner which may save you $1 or 2 overall when combined with the QS and snack, but that means a buffet every night. If you figure $5 snack, $20 for QS (which would mean really maximizing EVERY QS), you still need to "spend" $39 at every TS meal. I know we would never spend that much every day. My family of four can eat pretty well with an average of $50/day and still eat at the few TS we like.

the prices for DDP is not going up for DVC. DVC negotiations their price for the entire year 2016. This was confirmed by chat this morning by a member (see the DDP board). So that helps a couple of bucks at least. I think if you use it ALL for TS restaurants, the DxDDP is a good value esp at old pricing. Each credit is only worth about $33 on that if it's all used for TS and with adding the appetizers in it is a good value if you don't puke at the end of the day :)

thanks! I felt like I was missing something-the drink at lunch! But even adding a drink and POSSIBLY a side to lunch (which I priced as a burger/fry) it is still much cheaper to not use the QS DP

QSDP has always been difficult to save much money on, if any at all.

Your QS credit comes with entree, drink and dessert. The burger/fry is your entree. If you don't want dessert, you can sub a snack credit item on that restaurant's menu. At breakfast, you only get entree and drink.

For most people, paying OOP will be cheaper. But there are still some for whom the plan can work. Since Disney is not holding to it's "kid's must order from a kid's menu" rule for QS meals, those with kids who will eat adult QS meals are going to make out like bandits still.

I haven't seen the DDP working for a while now. If you don't mind paying more for convenience, then go for it, but I can eat cheaper paying OOP

We used the play, stay, dine offer so for us it was worth it. My parents are saying we will get it from now on, and I'm trying to talk them out of it. I'm trying to explain that we don't eat dessert at every meal (and it actually got old to be honest) and we don't get a drink most the time either. Even if you get a dessert/drink here and there, you're better off just paying for it. Adding in the snacks and refillable mug is nice, but still cheaper to just pay for it.

It was nice not getting something because it was expensive, but at the same time we had the opposite. We may have wanted something for TS dinner, but noticed it was under $20. We then chose the item that was closer to $30 to maximize our savings.

As someone else said, if you plan on doing character dinner buffets, get a discount, or get drinks/desserts at every meal, I say it's worth it. If none of these apply to you, I personally don't think it's worth it. I will say, it was nice having it all paid for in advance though, but why pay more just so you don't have to worry about that?

I don't see how you can come ahead on the QS plan. To me that is the place where I'd least likely be ordering dessert and it skews the numbers.

I don't think QSDP was ever a good deal, but as others have pointed out...there are ways to make it more worthwhile.

Breakfast: Be Our Guest $24 + tax=$25.44
Dinner: Cosmic Ray: Rotisserie Chicken $13.79 + $2.99 drink + Chocolate cake $4.29 + tax =$22.33
Snack: Dole whip float $5.29+ tax =$5.60
That's $53.37

Plus, I am CERTAIN that all prices will go up to compensate...for instance, didn't the prices at Be Our Guest breakfast just change and the cupcakes went up?

Thanks! I will take a look, do you know if that counts even if I am just renting points? We will be DVC posers for a few years until we buy in!

Yeah, I know :( . I had originally looked at the normal one, but then I want Yachtsman and Jiko and BOG dinner and basically all TS meals lol! We'd just have to pay for 2 adults because our son is under 3.

ETA: We are foodies and can easily spend enough to get our credits worth (unfortunately for my waistline and pockets)

I suspect the quick service plan was created so that it could be given away as a discount. I wonder if Disney ever expected anyone would actually pay for it.

At least you can sub out the dessert now. That helps make the ddp more worthwhile.

Let's hope free dining will be here this year. It's really the only way to make out. Paying full price for the resort is worth free dining.

I don't know for 100% sure but I'd assume so since it is a DVC reservation.
