I agree, if you're staying at the Boardwalk there's a plethora of places you could eat (and the World Showcase too!) so really not much of a need to visit 1900PF. Either today or tomorrow I'll be writing my Cape May Clambake review, which you might find helpful!
Ahh, from Aus to get anywhere other than New Zealand you are really looking at a minimum of around ten hours!

Hi everyone! Sorry I didn't get around to posting yesterday, it was our National Holiday and there were lots of parties and celebrations etc.
Today I'm back with a review of the Boulangerie Patisserie at the France pavilion in Epcot. We really like French food and French culture so this seemed like an excellent place to make use of a few of those snack credits. No point wasting them, right?
Here's a picture of the patisserie from the outside. You actually have to venture a little further into France to find it, it's not like Les Chefs de France where the restaurant is right at the pavilion entrance. The sign above the door would seem to suggest that this patisserie is run as part of Les Chefs, so perhaps the private catering company that runs the French restaurants runs all the eateries across the pavilion.
I just want to point out that there are absolutely no dining plan snack credit logos on any of the items in the patisserie. I'm not sure why they do this. We asked the Cast Member at the counter and she said that you could basically have anything other than the quiches, croissants, sandwiches etc. Pretty much all the sweet items and none of the savoury ones! I think this is one of the situations where jjohnson's confirmed snack list over on the Dining Plan forum really comes in handy. I actually printed a copy where I shrunk everything onto just three or four pages, one for each park basically. This way you can sort of plan what you would like to have before arriving. Also just another note, at the patisserie they have two queues as you enter, one on the left and one on the right. It isn't important which queue you choose, as they both serve the same thing. Just choose the shorter one!
For our snacks, DM got a cheesecake ($3.50), DD got a Creme Brulee ($3.80), DS got a Chocolate Eclair ($3.75) and I got a Chocolate Mousse ($3.35). We also got a specialty cappuccino ($3.19). We haven't got pics of the cappuccino or cheesecake, but here are pics of the other snacks.
We were all reasonably happy with what we had chosen. I think this type of snack really beats the standard stuff like an ice-cream from the ice-cream cart or a bag of chips. I think a lot of people are catching on to the value of getting a snack from this place though, since the line seemed much longer than it was when we visited in 2006! I would highly recommend the Boulangerie Patisserie for anyone visiting the France pavilion.

That chocolate mousse looks really good...it would be difficult for me to deviate from my beloved Napoleon though! Maybe if I could convince someone I'm there with to get it, then I'd be covered!

The pastry shop in France is one of my favorite places to visit, nothing compares to stopping to take a break and having a sinfully sweet treat with a coffee, yummy I can't wait
Ahhh...the snacks from France looks amazing. My fiance and I tried to stop by for a snack while we were there in January, and there was a line out the door both times! I thought we were being sneaky hitting it at off times, like 3ish...but its always busy. The chocolate mousse looks amazing and worth the wait!
My DH and I have to try the French pastries next trip. The line seems long everytime we go, but the wait must be worth it!

The look on your face when meeting the 'stepsister'? Priceless She didn't happen to ask if you had a glass slipper she could try on, did she?
I loved the pastries, the line moved very quickly actually and we didn't really even have enough time to make our selections (2 hours would have been about right). We got two desserts each in a 'to go' box. Ate one at the park and took the other to the room, put in the fridge and they were still yummy for breakfast the next day!

Yes, we also went after three, probably around 3:30pm yet it was still very busy! But definitely worth the wait.

Yes it is kinda hidden in the pavilion, but the snacks are good!
That's a good idea getting two pastries each! Probably easier if you're staying close by or get it just before you leave the park though.

Just a few hours after our snacks in France we left Epcot and walked down to the Beach Club for dinner. I had heard very good things about Cape May and was looking forward to it. Our ADR was for 7:15pm but we arrived much earlier at around 6:30pm. We checked in then relaxed in the lobby for a while. I loved the gingerbread carousel! They had obviously used a lot of chocolate, as the smell of chocolate completely permeated the lobby! At the gingerbread house at the GF the smell definitely wasn't as strong.
At about 6:55pm our buzzer rang and we were seated. The restaurant is very large and we were pretty happy with the table we were given. We were given a booth so there was plenty of room, and although we were close to the buffet, we weren't so close that the noise or crowds around the buffet were a problem.
Our server was Jonathan and I believe he was a local from somewhere around Central Florida. He was a nice enough guy but it was always going to be difficult for him to match the service we received at 1900PF. I think Jonathan may have been given a few too many tables to bus that night, because the plates just seemed to keep stacking up! I would rate his service as being probably around ordinary, nothing particularly special. Perhaps if we had visited on a quieter night with less tables his job may have been easier.
Sodas are included in the buffet, as are milk, coffee, tea, etc. I had Orange Soda. Jonathan did a pretty good job of keeping the drinks filled.
Below are some pics of the buffet. I was pleased with the variety at the buffet...
The main buffet is basically set up as a square, with different foods on all four sides and chefs working in the middle. They had two soups (chowder and something else), a huge array of salads (there are more salads on top of what is shown in the pic above!), the seafood selection (as in the menu above) and then the other hot offerings, which included potatoes, BBQ ribs, roast chicken, more pasta etc. The Kids area had the ubiquitous mac and cheese as well as chicken nuggets and some nice sauteed vegetables, which, surprise surprise, just sat there and did not deplete at all through the night!
I know a lot of people here talk about the crab legs and the clams, but personally for me I just found them alright. In Australia we almost exclusively have our seafood on ice so warm crab legs were a little different. As for the clams, we just don't eat them very often. They were by no means bad, and we had a few to try, it's just that they were eclipsed by all the other great food that was available! I reckon the standout dishes from the seafood section of the buffet would have to be the tortellini with lobster sauce and the batter-fried calamari. The calamari was brilliant because everything fried in batter tastes good! The tortellini was just to die for though. I'm not usually a fan of seafood pastas but this was absolutely amazing. The texture of the sauce was just so creamy and even the tortellini was prepared to perfection. I had quite a lot of this stuff! It was pure heaven . You absolutely have to try it if you visit, you will NOT be disappointed!
The hot offerings were also excellent. I enjoyed the ribs quite a lot and had a few of those. I didn't mention the carving station before. They had some steak and pork, both of which were very good. However, I find the carved meats pretty filling so I only had a little bit of each.
At the kids buffet I had some of the chicken nuggets. These seem to be popular with guests of all ages, and they were very good.
As for the salads, there are soooo many to choose from so i'm sure you will find something you like. I had the Caesar and it was very good. The croutons were particularly tasty, they were freshly made and not the packaged variety.
By this stage we were getting quite full, but we couldn't leave without having dessert! Dessert is actually set out on two different tables.
Room Temp Desserts?
Basically they had caramel flan, oreo bon bons, key lime tart, cheesecake, mini cupcakes, chocolate-chip cookie, oatmeal-raisin cookie, sugar cookie, brownies and peanut butter blondies. All the desserts were miniatures, which was excellent!
The oreo bon bons, put simply, are just magic. I don't know how they do it, but this would definitely be in my list of the top desserts at Walt Disney World. It's like an oreo base, with some oreo cream on top and coated in chocolate dust with some ganache on top. Even DM, who isn't a big fan of sweet stuff, commented on how amazing it was. It was definitely the highlight of the dessert table, although everything else was good too! I didn't get around to having the flan but DD did and he liked it. I suppose my suggestion to you is LEAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT!

I was very happy with how the chefs were able to keep everything well stocked through the night. I only saw a dish run out maybe once or twice, at all other times they were on top of everything and made sure that dishes were being replaced.
Another thing I liked about Cape May was the atmosphere. It's really leisurely and makes you feel like you're relaxing at some exotic beach destination. It really helps you to get into the holiday mood. The tables are covered in paper and we had fun drawing all over it with the bucket of crayons they leave on each table.
Overall, I think our overall experience at Cape May was positive. I think the biggest problem we experienced was with the slow table service, and perhaps Cape May should think about rectifying this by hiring more staff or even reducing the number of tables if that is what's required. Other than this everything is really good and doesn't need to change. At $36.99 (plus tax!) I think this restaurant represents pretty good value for a dining plan credit. Even if we were paying OOP, I think that Cape May probably still represents pretty good value for money. With its close proximity to Epcot, this is probably one of the easiest resort hotels to get to from a theme park. Put simply, if you want to dine in a deluxe resort hotel without too much hassle, this is a great option.

Great review of the clam bake... we were there last February and it was great. I totally agree with you - my favorites were the caesar salad, a couscous salad that was really tasty, the seafood pasta, and those delicious Oreo bon bons! Talk about little bites of heaven... yum, yum!!

I had never heard of the Cape May Clambake before your review! Now I might have to revise our ADR list--DH *loves* clams and we both love seafood in general.
what a great review with such great PHOTOS....we are going to be going to the Cape May Buffet for the first time in May and look forward to it......We are from Maine and we have great seafood here.....will be different eating it at a different place...
