DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Hellooooooo Humans!!!!

Hey there, Nate! And welcome to the new(ish) guys.

FYI guys, I invited the facebook DISDad's over to say hi and get numbers if they didn't have them. So far we've had two show up without numbers, and Nate. Hi Nate!

Good thinking! I found it easier to get to know people here than on the FB group.

We went to see the new Pixar film. Heard a lot of mixed reviews so I just tried to sit back and not over think it.
Better than I anticipated. Decent mixture of a couple of standard story lines: overcoming fears, getting past ones prejudices and preconceptions, if you love something then let it go...

The "cattle ranchers" were my favorite secondary characters (didn't expect that take on the characters or story line).

The general animation was absolutely stunning, while the characters were more simple (and I think that bothered a lot of folk) but all in all we enjoyed it immensely. .

I was debating after reading the reviews. Glad to hear it was worthwhile.

There is no joy in my house today. Gators face planted yesterday against the school that shall not be named and the Phins did the same against another team that shall not be named. Though to lose that ugly to rivals.

Sorry. It could be worse, though. Your team could have allowed 45 points to Detroit.

The game's in my home town this year, but my team ain't there, so I'm not as invested as I could be.
I was rooting for the Redblacks since they only came into existence 2 years ago and are the underdogs.
They almost pulled it out, too.
My Mom said she was cheering on the Eskimos. I tried to get her to bet $5 but she said no.
She regretted that decision!

Nice job anyway! You almost had your mom roped into a gambling addiction!:rotfl2:

:sad2: Anyone else think Elf on a Shelf is related to Chucky?

I'd say good morning, but it is the Monday after a 4 day weekend, so we all know there's nothing good about it.

Well, there were turkey leftovers for lunch. Other than that, I've got nothin'.

All I've got to say is I'm glad I bought Weathertech floor liners and I will never own another vehicle without them!

:crazy2:

Hey guys, how's it going! I havent been around in a while. Hope everyone is well. We have planned a Christmas trip this year and cant wait. We are staying at POP this year.

Happy Thankgiving to my American friends!!

Morning all.

Made it through our biggest weekend of the year, our annual sport summit/AGM and provincial sport awards. Glad that is done for another year.

DW and DS had to travel for a JV HS basketball tournament. His team went 2-1 and finished 3rd (poor tournament setup). The game they lost was by 3 points and according to the reports I received, they were easily the two best teams in the tournament. They have another game tonight against the other high school in our town and it should be a great game.

Getting closer to our cruise date so it is time to make sure everything is ready for that.

Have a good one!

Is it morning? Where am I?
Got off work at 7am this morning, back for a 16 hour shift at 3pm.
If I can still see straight by 7am tomorrow, I'll be astounded.

Sounds like your DS's team is pretty good. I wish my DD was more physically active, I'd love to go to a HS game again.

I have no idea how elf on the shelf works... Maybe some day I'll Google it.
But probably not.

I'd say good morning, but it is the Monday after a 4 day weekend, so we all know there's nothing good about it.

I don't remember when my last day off was.
Seriously. I don't remember. I'd have to look at a calendar.

We were heading home last night from the hanging of the greens service at church when DD puked in my truck.

Ugh. Always fun when that happens.
Good thing it was an easy clean up.

Nice job anyway! You almost had your mom roped into a gambling addiction!:rotfl2:

Oh, she's already seriously addicted.
About once a year she goes to the casino and bets her $20.

Usually comes home with more, though.

Happy Monday. I learned how to use the fax machine at work today. I didn't know the technology still existed. :lmao:

Then, I did the big grocery shop for the month, including the two weeks at home. There's $300 gone. :scared1:

Well, that's mighty neighborly of you. You'd be welcome.
Had tons left over.

Still do.

If only I was a bit closer.

Thanks for the review but I think my movie going budget is consumed by Star Wars so maybe we can catch it on the summer cruise scheduled. Hope the boy was able to make it home for a few days of family time.

Yeah, it was a good game. I figured you wouldn't be happy about outcome.

IWe're dealing with a stomach bug at home right now. We were heading home last night from the hanging of the greens service at church when DD puked in my truck. All I've got to say is I'm glad I bought Weathertech floor liners and I will never own another vehicle without them! I pulled the liners and car seat out and got the garden house out of the garage and made quick work of the cleanup. She seemed to be ok this morning... didn't have any more issues during the night, but DW wasn't feeling well this morning.

Hope everyone gets well soon. MIL & her boyfriend hacked on us for 3 hours over Thanksgiving. Youngest is sick and stayed home from school today. I may be next.

Wow, those look good!

::yes::

Although, I didn't save you any.

Sorry. It could be worse, though. Your team could have allowed 45 points to Detroit.

The Chip Kelly era ending soon?

Hey guys, how's it going! I havent been around in a while. Hope everyone is well. We have planned a Christmas trip this year and cant wait. We are staying at POP this year.

Happy Thankgiving to my American friends!!

Is that Nick? Good to see you back this way. Have a great trip.

Hi Nick! Good to hear from you. How's the restaurant business?

I have no idea how elf on the shelf works... Maybe some day I'll Google it.
But probably not.

You're really not missing anything. At all.

The Chip Kelly era ending soon?

Well, it's getting awfully hard to make a case for keeping this thing going.

Morning Men!

Good to see people showing up here again.

Great game for DS and his team, 72-69 win over their cross-town rival. Went back and forth most of the game with both teams have double digit leads at different times but couldn't sustain the momentum. DS played well after getting in early foul trouble, chipped in 5 or 6 points, a handful of rebounds and blocks plus a couple of steals.

Fun watching from the stands for change.

Afternoon gents. Heading off to the dentist here in a bit (toothache that started Friday after Thanksgiving), DW lost our camera bag with both camera and camcorder in it so with all the nonsense going on with the day job guess I'm gonna need to stay with the day job to pay for things. Oh yeah, made 2nd payment on DDs wedding event yesterday as well. On the bright side, having a wife, daughter, teeth and good paying job beat what some folks don't have so I'm just smiling through it all.

Sounds like DS has a nice all around game. I had similar back in HS as 6/7 the man off the bench. I completely agree about the watching from the stands but I struggled a bit at first with "too much" input post games with DD. Made a rule to myself to point out the best part of her game and one thing to think about or work on.

Doesn't hurt that your DS's team won, too.

Interesting. Get enough of us together and we could do it, actually.

ugh. That sucks.

But just think, when you're done at the dentist, your smile will be that much brighter!

I like the idea of this.
Not so keen on the location, but the idea...

That's a good one.

Wow, that's a whole lot of bad to be showing up all at once.
Well, some of it is more unfortunate as opposed to being truly "bad", but still...

Good attitude you have toward it though.
May the dentist not find to much wrong, may lost things turn up soon and may the joys to come out weigh the expenses of today.

May this be so for us all.

Happy Tuesday. Got a call about another job opportunity from a former co-worker who is now a hiring person for a different company. I did the online application/ upload a resume. I think I yelled "Get off my lawn" a few times at it. I won't take it unless there is a real good cash offer, which might be possible. I'll keep you posted.

Well, it's getting awfully hard to make a case for keeping this thing going.

And missing a draft pick next year. :scared1:

That town costs more than my house. It sounds fun though. Well, other than the whole needing a knife and chainsaw to survive the bar.

.

I hope that camera didn't have anything like the European Vacation movie on it. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Good luck at the dentist. I never did plan a future wedding budget for the dds. I guess I'm counting on a Vegas wedding. :scared1: :lmao:

Struggling to get back into the swing of things after a week off. Leftovers are gone other than some country ham.

It is a good thing I don't answer to anybody most of the time but unfortunately the work is still waiting for me and I have a big presentation coming up next month. My goal is to survive until Friday and hit it hard then. Tomorrow will be another office day and I'm only working part of the day on Thursday because my son's dulcimer group is playing at the Hospice next county over.

Good seeing some new faces and old-timers dropping in.

Morning folks. Winter concert at the younger DD's high school last night. 25% great, 25% really good, 12.5% good. 12.5% awful.
So overall a win I guess. And I get to do it all over again tonight. Hoping for better percentages this go around since it'll be more of the older grades.

I'd say that's a huge success for a school concert.

We get to attend one of those Thursday evening. K - 3, I believe.

I can hardly contain my excitement.

'Morning all...
Slowly but surly things are returning to something akin to normal (whatever that is).
Of course being in the midst of the holiday season everything is all scrambled and rushed.
Got the tree up and lights on it. Now to do the rest of the decorating.

Very cool. Both the group and the mission.
What kind of dulcimers; hammered, strummed, both?

I'm scheduled to start working with our church choir next week on the bass part for their yearly cantata, with a similar goal to play for a couple retirement groups as well as the congregation. Bass is not my favorite nor best skill when it comes to stringed interments but it is what they need this time around.

lot of music going on 'round here I see...
That's a good thing.

From your assessment, that's not bad odds for most school functions.
Enjoy the second round as well. I suspect that it will be more consistent.

We're heading up into the mountains this weekend to hear similar winter music offerings, but being college level groups, the percentages should be rather different. Our boy will be part of two of the numerous performances, once with his quartet playing a piece arranged by one of the other members and then again with the universities premier wind ensemble.
Should be an excellent afternoon of music all around.
(discounting the six hours driving up and back , of course)

:lmao:
They gott'a start some where.
Have gladly attended my share of those presentations and experience tells me that: "with much enthusiasm", will likely be the best description for this truly joyful noise.
Have fun... Really!

G'mornin Gents!

Life is hectic right now with Projects at work, home additions, and the DW's Etsy store being busier than she can keep up with. It's good to be busy and see success happen but I'll be glad when things slow back down a bit so I have time to smell those roses.

I have no idea how elf on the shelf works... Maybe some day I'll Google it.
But probably not.

My youngest tends to overthink things like this. This year she made a request that the Elf not come to stay with us so we had to assure her that we had texted Rosie and asked her not to visit this year but to monitor from the North Pole.
Happy Monday. I learned how to use the fax machine at work today. I didn't know the technology still existed. :lmao:

I still have fax capability but they are sent and received from my email. I may use it once every few years.

Smiling through it all is better with good teeth! Great that you can find the up-side in life's struggles.

Seems like a typical High School concert. Sounds like you missed 25% of it though.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Looks like I am headed for a root canal or two so off to the Endodontist first thing tomorrow morning. Bright side, 180 day mark for me and DS trip to DaWorld is Saturday so get to lock and load on dining resies. Working through month end / almost year end listening to Christmas tunes, and not be a downer but the song "The Christmas Shoes" just ended. For those that are familiar with this song it is not the most uplifting of Holiday music (give me Bing any day) but it does put things in perspective. So while we all are going a bit crazy this time of year, lets all make sure we enjoy it all as much as possible.

Thanks gents, nothing but just life stuff but and all is good just thought some of you would get a bit of a chuckle as we all hit spots where ya just get to a point of what's next?

Good deal, sounds like a good time & enjoy round two. All the best to DD on her musical interests.

Good to hear normalcy is returning for you and yours. The music events you have going on sound perfect for this time of year and getting to see the kids when they are away at school is always a plus.
