    Hi,
Thinking of going to WDW day after Thanksgiving 09. I know the day before thanksgiving is high.....Is the day after usually high as well?

Also...Is this usually a blackout period for miles?
    Thanks:goodvibes

This year the prices were high all through the weekend IMHO!

It's not a blackout on most airlines, BUT there may be no cheap mile seats left by now. Booking started a few weeks ago!

I don't know about mile seats - but if you're willing to gamble, as in wait until much closer, you may find a good fare ON Thanksgiving. No, you say? Not even late evening? Okay, your decision - but my flight back from Las Vegas on Christmas night was 28% full. 150 seats, 50 passengers. That meant every passenger who wanted could have her/his own set of three seats (and raise the arms, and lie down and go to sleep).

My husband's family flew from Chicago to Orlando the day after Thanksgiving, and they bought their tickets on AirTran in May. That day was reasonably priced...much more so than the Saturday-Monday after the holiday. I've also had good fares flying ON Thanksgiving Day.

Aaargh....I just tried to book my flight on miles and there were only 2 seats left on a direct flight to orlando, on 11-27. I need 3:headache:

Do you think if I call Southwest they will tell me what there fares were on that day?

Kills me every time I think I'm gonna get a "cheap" trip....Not so much:headache:

Southwest won't be able to tell you what their fares will be. They did not even release TG fares until the end of June. We flew SW last TG week and I could only get RR (miles) tickets on TG day when the schedule was initially released. A few months before TG, I was able to get RR seats the day after TG. That week, I was able to switch my RR seat until Saturday to stay and help my mother who broke her leg. DH and DS went home on Friday. I recall that as the flights were expensive when they were first released. As I continued to watch them a month out, there were a few flights that were down to $59 one way on TG day and I think the Friday after. TG is a good day to travel if you don't mind missing the holiday. Sat and Sun after TG are extremely heavy days to travel and virtually impossible to find an average fare. One of the many things I like about SW is if I cancel my RR ticket, it automatically gets credited back to my account with no penalty. With the other mile programs I belong to, I hate clicking that final button because I know that if I can't change it. Good Luck!

I can tell you that it was cheaper to fly on Friday than Saturday this year after T'day. I paid $74 one-way on Airtran ROC to MCO. JetBlue was the same price! I booked my flights in May, but the flights were available 24 hours before departure for those prices as well.

I'm hoping I can get a good flight...cause now I'm definately going....just used my points for a cruise....and cancelling that will be a royal pain:headache:

What airline were you trying to book with miles?

We used miles on United for our Oct trip and the availability kept changing from day to day so you might want to check for a couple of days before you give up.

I would think flying ON Tgiving would be cheapest. We did get good fares in 2007 though on the Friday, Sat-Mon were much higher.

I was trying to book American. I will try again.....they didn't have anything for Thanksgiving or Wed or Sat...only 2 seats on Fri...I needed 3.

I should have just done it and purchased the 3rd seat....of course the flight didn't get me to WDW till 8pm...which wasted the whole day.....
