There was a tie this morning for the First Update of the Day, which is a funny story that I will explain in the next post.

Nanabug02, her DH, and her DH's family all had dinner together last night at...

Nanabug started her update by sending these menu pics...

    Place Setting with Rose Napkin

    Bread Basket & butter

    For their appetizers, they chose...

    Garden Salad with Champagne Vinaigrette

    Potato Leek Soup

NB02 said, "This was great, really yummy!"

Mussels Provencal with White Wine, Tomato, Garlic, Onion, Basil, and Butter

NB02 said, "My sister-in-law had these. She loved them!"

    Which explains this next pic...

NB02 said, "Here she is drinking the mussel broth, like the Beast would do. Seriously, she was obsessed with this dish." ;)

Then for their entrees, Nanabug chose...

    Pan-seared Salmon on Leek Fondue
    served with Creamy Saffron-crushed Potatoes

NB02 said, "This was a good choice!"

    Sister-in-law chose...

Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops served in a Puff Pastry with a Lobster Sauce
    & Seasonal Vegetables

NB02 said, "She said it was good, but she would rather have another bowl of mussels." :lmao:

Several in their group chose this...

Grilled Strip Steak with Garlic-Herb Butter and Pommes Frites

NB02 said, "They all thought the steak was too tough."

DNeice had the Child's Pasta Dish...

Whole Grain Macaroni topped with Marinara sauce and Mozzarella cheese and served with Broccoli

    Now on to their desserts...

    Lemon Meringue Cupcake
Vanilla Sponge Cake, Lemon Custard Filling, and Flamed Meringue Icing

NB02 said, "This was so moist...I loved it!"

    Strawberry Cream Cheese Cupcake

NB02 said, "Several of the group had this and it was a hit!"

    Her father-in-law chose this...

Passion Fruit Cream Puff filled with Passion Fruit Mousse topped with Whipped Cream

    And then everyone else had...

    Triple Chocolate Cupcake
Chocolate Sponge Cake, Chocolate Mousse Filling, and Chocolate Ganache

    NB02 said, "A winner!" :thumbsup2

Last but not least, they were given some of the Grey Stuff... :confused3

NB02 said, "We all got a kick out of it! And, of course, it was delicious!"

In conclusion NB02 said, "Overall, we really enjoyed this restaurant. They were definitely having some new restaurant growing pains. We checked in at the restaurant at 7:00 and didn't get seated until 8:00. And then we didn't leave until 10:00. But, it was a great experience!"

I'll end Nanabug's update with this pic...

Note from jabead: Although Nanabug's update was the 4th that we have received for this thread, I've decided to award both this update and HoneyBeeM's the same 5 points that were given to the first three updates. These first updates were actually all done by reporters who were later doing a full review, so were not as complete as those done by Nanabug and HoneyBeeM. Therefore, I feel that NB & HBM are quite deserving of the full 5 points.

5 Points for being one of the first updates from BoG dinner
1 Point for First Update of the Day
3 Bonus Points for Salmon, Shrimp & Scallops, and Kids' Pasta entrees
2 Points for pics of SIL and Niece
    1 Point for Menu Pics

What a fabulous BOG review! I hadn't seen the rose napkin or the adorable princess goblets. Such great details - especially the rose under glass! Love the photo of soup slurping - very beast like!! I can't wait to try this restaurant! :thumbsup2

Now for the funny story regarding the tie for the First Update of the Day this morning. At 6:47 a.m. (Central) I began receiving Nanabug's (above posted) update from her dinner last night at Be our Guest. At 6:49, as I was looking at the first few pics that NB had sent so far, I began receiving update pics from our other current reporter, HoneyBeeM. And guess what...her update was from her dinner last night at Be our Guest! ;) So for the next 5 - 10 minutes, I was receiving dueling pictures on my phone...all of them from Be our Guest! :lmao:

And so folks, thanks to our two wonderful reporters, Nanabug02 and HoneyBeeM, I have a double-dose of Be our Guest updates for you to enjoy as you start your day. I'd say that that is pretty awesome! :goodvibes

Be our Guest - Part II coming up, so please stay tuned! :thumbsup2

How in the world did I miss these cupcakes, We stayed at the Lodge last year for 7 nights and I don't remember seeing anything this tastey, the only thing I got from Roaring Forks was my mug and LOTS of coffee :confused3 Now this year I have to take a boat over there just to get a darn carrot cake cupcake!

We received an email update today from Kristi (klinlin).

She and her family dined at Epcot's...

    Via Napoli

Here are the pics she sent from that meal...

Minestrone Soup - Vegetable & Cannellini Bean Soup with Basil Pesto

Arancini - Fried Risotto Balls filled with Mozzarella Cheese and Meat Ragu

Kristi said, "I had to try these. They lived up to the hype." :thumbsup2

Carciofi - White Pizza with Artichoke, Fontina, Mozzarella, and Truffle oil

Kristi said, "I always have the best intentions but forget!! :worried:
I had the white pizza with artichoke and truffle oil. Very good but too much food all around."

Kristi added, "My husband was the only one in our party who didn't have pizza. He ordered Linguine Frutti di Mare (Shrimp, clams, mussels and squid tossed in marinara piccante). He thought it was just ok and only ate the seafood, not the pasta. Our waiter was great and pretty much told us to stick with pizza, appetizers and dessert. My mom had Eggplant Caponata (Eggplant salad with olives, capers, pinoli nut, tomato and raisins) and loved it. For dessert we had zeppole, tiramisu, and an ugly but good sundae. We thought we were too full, but they were awesome!"

Funny you should ask! I was wondering the same thing, as most of the gingerbread had expiration dates at the end of the month. The guy in front of me didn't seem to care about that, though. He spent over $300 on gingerbread! He was buying it up like there was no tomorrow!

:wave2: Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating today...and for those that aren't, well Happy Thursday!!! ;) I wish all of my past reporters, future reporters, and everyone else who reads and posts on this thread a Thanksgiving day full of delicious food, good company, and maybe a nice long nap too. :thumbsup2

We have just finished up our traditional family Thanksgiving breakfast, which features french toast, bacon (which was much better than Disney bacon ;) ), and mimosas. While I do make excellent french toast (if I do say so myself :lmao:), I once again forgot to add vanilla in an attempt to replicate the French Toast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. :worried: Oh well, maybe I'll remember next time. ;) Anyway, as I sit here finishing up my (no doubt nap inducing) second mimosa of the morning, I thought I would share with you a funny story regarding my dinner last night. My family had dinner out at Medici Restaurant, as we were celebrating my oldest daughter's birthday. When it came time for dessert, we decided to order two for the five of us to share. The desserts were placed in the middle of our table and one of them was so pretty that I could not resist the urge to take out my cell phone and take a picture of it. I was expecting some moans and groans from my family, but was pleasantly surprised when two of my three kids took out their own phones and joined me in my picture taking frenzy. One of them even posted the pic immediately to her Facebook, which resulted in several "Likes". :lmao: So that you understand the magnitude of this, let me explain further. One of my first attempts at doing a Dining Review was during our Spring Break trip in 2010. I still remember the look of horror on my teenagers' faces when I took the camera out to take pictures of our food. Needless to say, I quickly resigned myself to the fact that my review would be sans pictures. :worried: So now maybe you realize the significance of what happened at our dinner last night and know why I count it as a personal triumph. :thumbsup2

So anyway, without further ado, I present to you our dessert...

Chocolate Lava Cake (from Medici of Normal, Illinois)
A mini chocolate cake with a chocolate sauce center topped with raspberry sauce and fresh whipped cream

Now I will try to post some updates that I've received from our two reporters, jecskc and Nanabug02, before it's time to leave for our Thanksgiving lunch. Don't you just love Thanksgiving...'cause it's all about the food! :goodvibes
