Combining two parties?

We are traveling with another family, and arrive on 10/1. Both families have reservations separately but at the same time for H&V character breakfast at 8:10am. We called DisneyDining and they said that in order to combine the reservation, we'd have to cancel one of them, and increase the party size of the other. We didn't want to chance losing our spot, because we just barely snagged the second one.

Is there a way to call the restaurant directly and ask to be seated together? I would think this should be easy since it's just after the restaurant opens?

Unfortunately, no, BUT, you do not have to cancel one, you may try to change your reservation on MDE, if it won't allow you to increase the number of guests on either of your ADRS, keep your 2 current ADRs, show up at H&V early ( should be no problem as it sounds like it may be a ppo ADR), and ask them to seat you together. The fact that it's early will increase your chances.

Show up together and ask. That is all you can do. Unfortunately there is no guarantee they will be able to accommodate you.
