Ciao Mickey, This is NOT Disney. The real Europe visited...8/16 - Day 9.11 & 9.12

Wow...beautiful statues, beautiful ceiling and artwork. They don't leave much to the imagination with some of those statues, do they?

Stunning artwork and views. I've been "cheating" and keeping up via FB. Still here on the DIS. And soon you'll be in Florida!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway is good to keep up by. LOL./
Looks like May 29th.

Wow...beautiful statues, beautiful ceiling and artwork. They don't leave much to the imagination with some of those statues, do they?
Yes it is. They should have a little more imagination on some. :)

Amazing artwork.
I agree

Day 7.12

Now we were approaching the end of the tour. We did end up on a balcony outside with some nice views.
15756037882_03ba5f7eda_c.jpg

I thought I would be artsy. I failed. LOL.
15754498335_68e844c01a_c.jpg

Then it was back inside.

15752605461_a5fa67f9e2_c.jpg

Now we had to walk through several rooms to exit. I lagged behind a little because I had to take photos.

They had a model of Firenze. Very hard to see in the pics.

15569042778_3bb0c98021_c.jpg

With that we were done. It was a great day of touring and the last tour guide was good but I wish he would have kept his arm down more. Everyone else loved him. We were now hungry.
15756008752_1be28fbf87_c.jpg

I have no clue.
15569041178_19337e3a8c_c.jpg

We had to walk back to the hotel but it was easy enough being we were by the Ponte Vecchio.
15754469575_ac6f01db88_c.jpg

I think this is where we crossed over because the sidewalk was so small.
15754467145_058afa8aba_c.jpg

Look what was on the side of a bus.
15134493654_263440d33f_c.jpg

Ponte Vecchio.
15569034538_059a51c57f_c.jpg

I loved the garbage cans there.
15752573101_c7863e1a8e_c.jpg

We then came to this restaurant which I had seen before because it was right by our road.
15135048893_a138ea0076_c.jpg

We looked at the menu and then we went in. They sat us outside along with others.
15754454215_6397282804_c.jpg

I guess this was good wine and that is why I took a photo.
15134483074_eb642b9c8b_c.jpg

I split a margherita pizza with Lorraine and it was so good.
15569630190_dc9bacd533_c.jpg

For dessert I had the nutella crepe. Not sure if Lorraine split it with me or not.
15135046343_0ff9770dfa_c.jpg

After dinner we went back to the hotel and we had to pack because in the morning we were catching a train to Roma. I know I did get iced tea at the store again and then went to sleep early.

Up next,

Traveling to Rome.

Yum on that pizza, and was that statue picking his foot??? The closest I'm going to get to Italy anytime soon is WS or Portofino at Universal. And...your pictures :worship:

Looks like a great lunch at the Pontevecchio. What were the prices like for the food?

Really great pictures again in this update. I continue to be fascinated by all the wonderful statues. They are just amazing.

And that pizza - YUMMMMMMMM! That looks so great as does the nutella crepe. I want one!

The pizza was good. Yes it was. LOL.
Maybe you will get there one day soon. You never know.

It was included in the tour so no clue.

Thank you. Yes they are.
The food was delicious.

Day 8.1

it is a new day and we were traveling today. I believe we had breakfast first and then we all got ready to go to the train station.
15798968485_5fe1c8d82f_c.jpg

Soon enough we were at the train station. Some of us walked and some of took a cab. It was a little crowded here.
15800532812_f4a38508a1_c.jpg

Group meeting? LOL.
15798967325_32ef081188_c.jpg

All alone.
15775290986_5a60329773_c.jpg

But soon enough our train came and it was time to board.
15797087461_1f5a6fe573_c.jpg

Now I did make a boo boo here. I brought Vinny to the wrong car and we were sitting in the wrong seats. LOL. We did find the right car and we were on our way. Might have happened to Lorraine too. LOL
The Italian countryside.

Every once in a while the screen would show a camera as we were moving. It was cool to see.
15775262276_07debb8877_c.jpg

Looks like an old wall or fort.
15613518578_07d6bbb06b_c.jpg

My eyes are bad and I cannot tell if those are cows or sheep. LOL.
15179493213_948db7076f_c.jpg

This is the stop before ours.
15613511348_cbab898ba0_c.jpg

15797046861_3b5bc500d6_c.jpg

We were going to Roma Termini.
15613099379_3b37f6afa9_c.jpg

Then we arrived.
15179479803_5c0e291c66_c.jpg

This train station was a little far to drag our bags so we got 2 cabs. Within minutes we were there and checking in.

Up next,

Our hotel and a glass of wine.

I had a hard time with the first update here...couldn't read the words and had to scroll over them to read them. :rotfl2:

More beautiful pictures on your tour and how fun that you saw Mickey.

Dinner looks absolutely yummy.

And love the Italian countryside.

Scott, I am finally caught up here to. Have to second Kathy's comment that it was hard to read with the light coloured font.

It is so funny to see a "foreigner's" opinion on our neighbouring country and its beauty. I had Tom watch over my shoulder and his comment was - yes, that is Italy. :rotfl2:
We are so used to all the art that it doesn't stand out so much to us. But thanks for the reminder! :goodvibes

Again, food looks nice.

More artwork overload. I wish I had a better eye and knowledge of artwork. It's all so outstanding. I wonder how long it takes to complete one of those life sized statues.

Nice ride on a fast train to Rome.

Looking forward to seeing the glass of wine!
it was a nice ride.

Oops! Sorry about that. LOL.
Mickey was a nice surprise.
it was very good.
The countryside is so beautiful.

:thumbsup2 Oops sorry. Must remember no light colors.
LOL. I get that because I am the same way when people come to NYC and see it and I am like, okay it is the city. If you live there it becomes just everyday.

More artwork overload. I wish I had a better eye and knowledge of artwork. It's all so outstanding. I wonder how long it takes to complete one of those life sized statues.
There is artwork everywhere there.
Not sure but I looked up "David" and it took 3 years.

Sorry been MIA. Had to go see the family in West Virginia before we move next month and had a nice visit with them.

Day 8.2

Once we were all together we went into the building. The building houses several hotels so you have to buzz the one you are staying at and tell them your name.
15614166070_b58cc70a53_c.jpg

The elevator is very small and so some used it and others went up the stairs.

I see you Lorraine.
15613828407_d0b2459aa2_c.jpg

Here is the elevator.
15614160060_43d26cba66_c.jpg

We all checked in and the owner of the hotel was there to assist and she was wonderful. Her name is Barbara and I cannot praise her and her husband enough. Then we went upstairs to the floor (the check in is on 3 and our rooms were on 5) and we got to see our rooms. We passed a special area but I will get to that in a few minutes.

Would you like to see our room? I loved it.

The door.

Next to us was barbara, Jeff and Lorraine then down the hall was Donna & Mark. We said we would meet up and relax a bit. I scheduled a tour for us later that day.

Now the part I said we passed was a terrace area which was fantastic. Here is the table you can eat at.
15179038674_43a2effb68_c.jpg

Here is another seating area.

The area.
15800555932_c3357cccb6_c.jpg

We sat down and had ourselves some wine. I know they gave us 2 bottles but not sure if this was them or if this was from the winery. I think it is was the winery.
15798984865_3e1fb05c0d_c.jpg

Selfie time with Jeffrey.
15613807547_1ee35e1ba6_c.jpg

The wine was from the winery we had lunch at a few days before.
15614142180_ca310529b2_c.jpg

Then it was time to head out. Mark had a photo done first.
15797104191_b71648f93d_c.jpg

Time to stop again.

Up next,

We walk to a certain coliseum.

I totally overlooked the train update. Those pictures of the countryside are just stunning.

Oops to getting on the wrong train car. :faint:

Your hotel looks lovely. I'm glad the check in was a breeze!

Thanks.
Oops was right. I was a little embarrassed.
The hotel was one of the best and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone.

Day 8.3

As I said earlier I scheduled a tour for this day because it just fit in. let’s see how that worked out. We decided to walk to our destination.

We continued walking and was getting closer.

Here is Piazza Venezia (<- click for information)
15797182571_ae14cf4833_c.jpg

We then walked down stairs and were soon seeing a lot of ruins.

Then we were there.
15800615272_3669024989_c.jpg

We walked around looking for the tour group we were to meet.
15799047305_bdf8726150_c.jpg

It was a warm day.
15613222459_cd1fca2153_c.jpg

And we will end with this.

Coming up next,

We go inside.
