    Hi all,

I was advised to post specific threads to questions I have to enable people to chip in where they can, so here goes my first one :goodvibes

I'm considering booking flights to Orlando from Manchester (Ideally I'd love to go from Liverpool, but I don't think they do direct flights from there)

Can anyone provide me with links to websites that normally provide the cheapest flights?

Are comparison websites the best bet or do they have the problem of prices being outdated and when you come to book at the price quoted they've normally jumped in price!! :headache:

On the webistes I've tried so far, £650+ seems to be the normal adult fare flying from mid Aug 2010 although I don't seem to be able to book that far in advance on many sites???

So far there are at least 4 adults, a 2 yo and a 1 yo - there doesn't seem to be much difference in price for the toddlers is this also normal??

On some sites so far I've just typed in 2 adults to save time to see how much the price will be pp. Am I possibly losing out on cheaper fares by not putting the whole travelling party on the enquiry or will it just be the same??

Any other advice will as ever, be much appreciated!!:grouphug:

I can help with some sites to check - NetFlights, Expedia, Kayak, Travel Supermarket & Opodo.

I tend to use the comparison websites to do the "hard part" and then go direct to the individual website if I'm deciding to book!

I'm sure someone else will be along soon to help with your other questions! :thumbsup2

I am new to all this too, but I'm pretty sure you could have the one year old on your lap (maybe the 2 year old too) which would save quite a lot of money. There has been a thread on here this week discussing the merits of buying a seat for a toddler.

saved the links in my favourites & will check them regularly.

Still have the problem of trying to enquire about flights for the last 2 weeks in Aug. When will it be likely that all tour operators will load them up?

Am I more likely to get better prices then?

Also, will all/most of them require payment in full straight away or do most allow a deposit initially?

Most flights become available 11 months before their date, so you will need to start looking last 2 weeks September - but you can book before this with package holiday company's (Virgin Holidays for example).

If flying direct from Manchester in school hols, expect to pay around 650.00 upwards for an adult in economy.

can't you go any other time of year, as the prices are much cheaper outside of school hols.

I have always found that going to the scheduled airlines own website works out cheaper than going via a website for an agent/booker.

I can't comment on charter flights however.

Scheduled airlines do not post their return prices until 330 days from your return date, but to give you an idea of your scheduled options from manchester:

    Virgin atlantic http://www.virgin-atlantic.com/en/gb/index.jsp

    VS75 dep 10:25 Arr Orlando 14:20

This is also the Continental airlines flight CO2575, Continental can be cheaper for the same flight and same seats!)
    http://www.continental.com/web/en-US/default.aspx?POS=GB

    VS73 Dep 13:45 arr 17:55

thats about it for direct flights.
However there are other options with one or more stops and changes of aircraft. these are called Indirect flights and can be cheaper and you go through customs at the first airport in the USA so is quicker than orlando:

    US Airways http://www.usairways.com/awa/content/international/en-uk/default.aspx

US735 Dep 11:00 Arr Orlando 18:27 (with a stop at Philadelphia)

    British airways http://www.britishairways.com/travel/home/public/en_gb

BA 2903 Dep Man 8:20 Arr LGW 9:25,
BA 2037 Dep LGW 11:20 Arr MCO 15:30

    Aer Lingus http://www.aerlingus.com

EI 203 dep Man 8:00 Arr DUBLIN 9:00
EI 121 Dep DUB 11:50 Arr MCO 15:50

    Continental (see web add above)

CO 21 dep Man 9:25 Arr Newark 12:15
CO 37 Dep EWR 13:30 Arr MCO 16:15
    Or
CO 492 Dep EWR 14:30 Arr MCO 17:18

    United Airlines http://www.unitedairlines.co.uk/core/english/index.html
UA 9043 (Lufthansa code share) Dep Man 7:05 Arr Frankfurt 9:45
UA 9065 Dep FRA 14:00 Arr MCO 18:05

    Lufthansa http://www.lufthansa.com/online/portal/lh/uk/homepage?tl=1&c=71&cid=1000243

LH 4851 Dep Man 9:30 Arr FRA 12:10
LH 464 Dep FRA 14:00 ARR MCO 18:05

    Delta Airlines http://www.delta.com/index.jsp

DL 65 Dep MAN 10:50 Arr Atlanta 15:00
DL 109 Dep ATL 16:55 Arr MCO 18:30

That should keep you busy for a while! :goodvibes
