Changing resorts

Has anyone booked a split stay and then ended up wanting to stay in the first hotel instead of moving? We are staying at CR in Dec for 4 nts then moving to CSR for the remaining 4 nights. If CR has availability is it possible to stay even though it is when we arrive. What happens to the second resort reservation? Is it even worth trying?

It never hurts to ask!
3 years a go we were planning a split between CR and Poly. 3 in Cr and 4 in Poly. We absolutley did not like the CR and after first night we inquired about moving early to Poly. Not only did they agree to move us, the first 2 nights at Poly were at the rate for CR (about $35 night less).
