December 3-10 at BWV home resort...

wondering what people think of my chances of getting the following:

Lake view?
standard view?

Probably good. Something like 40% of units are declared to DVC, with 20-25% of points sold. Obviously, the Bungalows are a wild card.

There are many more Standard View studios than Lake View.

Your best bet is to be online at 8AM at 7 months, as with anywhere else.

Hey i wanted to hear that :) No can afford bungalow and it's just me and my (soon to be) 8 year old. Of course he wants to stay at boardwalk. But I like my chances with those numbers and have 4 months to convince him. He stayed at BLT on his only two trips to WDW (first one he was too young to remember, second one was a year ago December) so he wants to "try something new" and stay in an epcot resort. I have stayed at every MK resort except for Poly and this may be my best shot at getting it with those numbers so I want to stay at the Poly.

We got a lake view studio for the week of July 4th at the seventh month mark. I expected it to be difficult, but no problem whatsoever. If you get on-line at 8 a.m., your chances are good!!!

I think December 3-10 will be okay. Last year, it was a nightmare booking the second week of December at the seven month mark as the DVC side had just opened and everyone wanted to try it.

We are wanting to do almost exactly this. Dec.1-4, Poly SV. Debating this vs. BCV 1BD, but I figure we will never want to or have the opportunity again after this year to stay at Poly as the kids are growing and won't want to share a bed much longer.

If you're online at 8AM on the exact day, it's practically a sure thing. At least for this year, and maybe next.

Probably even after that using a WL. As sales approach 40% DVD will declare more inventory and this will open more rooms to be booked with points. I believe that in this case WL will be filled first, right?

I agree now is a great time to "try" Poly. We changed our July VGF stay to PVB as while IMO there could still be a decent chance to get Poly at 7 months once it's sold out, it won't be as easy as it is now.

thanks, everyone. my kid really wants to stay at the boardwalk. GRRRRRRRRR. I want to stay at the poly!

How far is the walk from the DVC poly buildings to the TTC?

Shorter than the walk to the main building. It's super convenient.

He'll be happy wherever I stay, I just can't decide myself and him not being all in for poly makes it harder. I am a member but we don't go very often (every 2+ years) so I try to make the trip memorable. I am truthfully on the fence myself and conidering a split stay and doing our MK stuff while at Poly and epcot/hollywood studios while at BWV. But not sure if that would feel too scattered.

I was just playing with the availability tool, Poly has availability for every night July 5 and after for the rest of the year, both standard and lake view studios.

where is this thing? is it on the DVC website?

so clueless and out of the loop!

I'm hoping to switch to PVB Standard View Studio at 7 mos too! For the end of September.

The Availability Tool is on DVC website:
Plan Vacations
Check Resort Availability
Enter your dates and click Check Availability
Find PVB and click Availability
Find your room type and click All Dates
Now you can scroll through the entire year, month by month

As a previous poster said - wide open availability for everything past July (except Christmas week, of course).

I gave my best friend the option to move from a 2bd lake at BLT btwn Dec 3-6 to two std studios at poly (it's my family of 4 plus her family of 4).

We are staying at bwv std 2bd from dec 6-10. I'm committed to bwv, lol.

I told my best friend she can decide before May 2, upon which the 7 mo 8am booking day opens for other resorts.

She thinks I'm insane. She doesn't realize booking dvc 11mo in advance, then switching resorts 7 mo in advance, is a competitive sport.

Looks like ppl are looking at switching to poly at the 7mo mark but availability is pretty decent right now! Best of luck! You can also do a split stay like we are doing...

I am thinking of doing the split stay thing so we can stay at both. It means packing up again but if we are in the park all day and come home to the new resort it's not a big deal, right? It is just me and my then 8 year old son. But I am really leaning toward splitting the stay and doing more MK heavy things the beginning and Epcot/Hollywood Studios things at the end.

THIS is a great idea.

We do split stays quite a bit so that we can spread out our points. As a family of 4, we can start the trip in a studio for a couple nights before we move to a 1BR, which we prefer. I'm glad you asked about the 7 month window at the Poly because I was thinking about it yesterday. We have an extended-family trip planned in October. My sister's family and our parents (6 people total) rented points and booked a standard 2BR at BWV at the 11 month mark. My family was hoping to get a standard 1BR at BWV for at least part of the week, but that's not going to happen since the availability tracker already shows nights 2-6 as unavailable. So, now my focus has shifted to a 1BR at BCV. We can do a 1BR for 5 nights so we will be looking for a studio for the first 2. I already have a studio booked at AKV-J (our home resort), just in case that happens to fill up. When I looked at the points chart, I realized that, if it's available, we could get a standard Poly studio for those two nights for only 12 additional points. I guess I will just have to wait and see what is available on March 17:rolleyes1.

I find it interesting that so many think the Poly will be easily available for early December. For early December 2015, I was online at 8am exactly when the 7th month window opened and could only get 2 nights (a Tuesday & Wednesday). In spite of 1 night waitlists and constant checking, I never got more than that. AFAIK, they haven't declared any more into the condo - and I don't think we'll see another declaration anytime soon since the initial one was 40%. So I wonder what has changed? Availability for anything besides early December has no relevance to what may be available then.

Anyway, although I enjoyed our short POLY stay, I doubt we'll be staying there again due to the relatively high cost per night. Maybe there are enough "one and done" people to noticeably lessen the competition?
