Ok, so we're going to DL this weekend and we'll have a free day to go sight-seeing. Does anyone have suggestions as far as what the most beautiful beach is in Central and Southern California? :confused3

I now the West Coast is very different from the East Coast, but still would like to find a nice , clean, sandy beach. It can be small, large, half moon shaped, "straight" shaped, deep or shallow water (though being able to wade around in the water would be a plus), whatever, as long as it's clean, not so crowded, and easy to get too (no cliffs! :scared1:)

We'll be driving between SF and L.A. so anything below Anaheim is out, as is anything in the SF Bay Area :thumbsup2 (Lived there before so we are all set in that regard).

    THANKS in advance. :worship:

There are alot of nice ones, but my vote is for Hunington Beach. It is about a 20 min Drive from DLR - straight shot - and it has nice, upscale shops, a beautiful stretch of beach, plenty of shopping. :cloud9:

ETA: There is an In-N-Out Burger place there - a must do whenever we visit California!

I dont have much experience in heaps of the beaches....

But we have been to Venice Beach / Santa Monice Beach. They are crowded but easy to get to and a great experience.

We also went to Laguna Beach. It was really lovely.

For Central California, I'd vote for Carmel beach. Gorgeous wide, white sand beach with great views of Pebble Beach.

In San Diego area its touch to beat Coronado Beach.

When driving highway 1/101 I really enjoy a stop at Avila Beach. Very scenic area and not nearly as crowded as other beaches. Have to eat breakfast or lunch at Fat Cats!! A small diner but fantastic food.

If its not too late then I pick Corona Del Mar. It's just south of Newport Beach. It's got the perfect crescent shape.

I have to agree! I visited here a few years ago when I stayed with my brother who lives in Seaside, Ca. It's just beautiful!
