I got a Tervis for the cruise, and I am wondering if it will be cumbersome to carry everywhere. Am I overthinking (which I am prone to do) this? Do any of you have tips for carrying it around.

Personally, I don't see the sense in bringing my own cup to use onboard. I'd be concerned I'd set it down somewhere and lose it. Plus it would be on me to keep it clean. Doing dishes on my vacation isn't in my plans.

Since you must use the provided paper cups at the drink station to fill your personal cup, it seems like it's sort of a waste. I prefer to go to the drink station and get a fresh cup when I'm thirsty.

But there are others who wouldn't do it any other way. Entirely up to you.

I always carry my yeti with me on board. I drink a lot of water throughout the day so it's nice to not have to get up every 10minutes to get a fresh cup.

I also find it less wasteful since I use one cup to fill up the whole 32oz each time, instead of getting a new cup every 8oz or so

Do they sell Tervis onboard? I seem to remember someone having a Disney Cruiseline?????? Or am I dreaming?

No offence to anyone but I would be a little annoyed if I was standing behind someone who was filling 32 oz with a cup. There are 4000 people on that ship and not that many drink stations so just keep that in mind.
I'm just saying, be mindful.

Well, I was calling it "wasteful" to use a cup (that you could be using to drink out of, and not dirtying up your cup) just fill up your cup and then throw it away.

Get the handle. Saves the plastic from the dreaded sunscreen haze, too. (Look on the tervis faqs)

It's less wasteful to use one paper cup to fill a 32 oz container than to get just the one fill from it.

I buy a Tervis on board every cruise. We do cruise Concierge so I've never used the drink station but I use it for coffee, water. The ship is really quite small enough that once I know I'm finished with it, I take it back to the room.

years ago I brought a LARGE handled insulated mug so I wouldn't have to run back and forth to drink station on the Magic. What a pain in the neck. Of curse, we didn't just lounge on the deck in 1 place all afternoon, we went here and there with our 6 year old dgd. Anyhow,as far as I was concerned, it was inconvenient to carry around 1 more thing.

NOTE: the above expressed opinions do not necessarily reflect those of the DISboards or any rational person

Didn't know about it the first time, and ruined my 2014 DCL tervis. I was heart broken, Tervis sent a generic Disney one as a replacement. I was not happy. Now I have a generic DCL Tervis.

For the OP. I use a handle on my mug for ease of carrying. As for taking more time at the drink station, its a wash in time. If I fill up their 10oz cup 3 times, it takes the same amount of time as filling up my 32oz cup 1 time. I can't say I have been or seen others who outwardly appear annoyed at waiting for a fill up.

If somebody gets annoyed that they spend an extra 20 seconds behind someone filling up their mug from a cup, perhaps they need to reexamine their tolerance for "inconvenience".
If you flipped that around then you would see the perfect mindset for 'me me me' that is becoming so much a part of the every day world.
I also don't think it would only be an extra 20 seconds but even if its an extra 5 that is very inconsiderate to others. There are only a few filling stations.
JMO and others can do what ever they wish because it is their vacation to.

I think this is really a moot point. I have had to stand behind families with kids trying to decide what to drink, how to fill the cup, etc etc -- and that certainly took way longer than 20-30 seconds. I'm sure while on vacation we can spare an extra minute or two for those in front of us who are filling cups or helping their kids ;)

I don't really see the difference in one person filling up a large cup and standing behind a family of five each filling a cup. I just want the people who have to put milk and sugar in their coffee cup, to please gather those things and move away from the coffee urn!:duck:

Get the handle, it is so much better to carry around AND we usually have a carabiner clip that we then can clip to our bag (carries our towel clips and book I like to read while on deck) when we are done drinking. I only take the tervis with me in the morning or while on deck. When we return our pool supplies to the room, I leave the tumbler.

Not a pain to fill as I consider 1 cup to fill the mug and toss much less waste than using 3 cups AND keep getting up. I also think the line behind large families is a lot longer than the one to fill a mug.

@wombat_5606 , I 100% agree on the people with sugar and coffee, I always tell my husband to get the stuff he wants and move it on out to do it elsewhere!

Sorry. I have to edit my previous humorous response because the more I see your statement the more I just have to roll my eyes at the irony of it.

We don't spend a lot of time on the pool deck so it's easier for me to bring a large cup and carry it with me for the day. The paper cups are small and I found I was always running back up to the drink station between activities which was a pain so I switched to bringing my own large cup. If you generally hang out by the pool then I wouldn't bother bringing your own cup.

We started bringing the DCL/CC ones they used to give as repeat gifts. Not sure if they still do, but they were a nice size to hold our soda/juice/water.
