Canadian Buffoon's Hi Low Vacation - South Central Musings

Because it was all on the new about them in the playoffs before I left. I start the news at least 15 minutes in so I can forward through commercials and the sports,

Gotcha.
I do the same with pretty much everything.
"Okay! _____ is on at 7. Let's start watching at 7:15."

but I caught one story about then being in the playoffs and one reporter used to put on his Jersey for luck, but every time he did it they lost. So last week he threw the jersey on the ground and stomped on it and they won and moved forward in the playoffs.

Although I wonder if he got any
flack for stomping on it.

In WDW I can't forward so I had to listen to the story this morning about the Cubs and Dodgers and how bad the Dodgers lost. Plus I'm seeing stuff in my FB news feed about the dodgers.

Oh, of course you would.
D'uh. :sad2:

I stole this for my next chapter.

I saw that!
(And I'll get to it eventually.)

She rolled her eyes.

This doesn't surprise me.
As long as she doesn't say
"What an idiot!"

'Cause then it would be awkward
if/when we should meet.

Ugh my brain hurts after this.

There's really not much to it.
You almost certainly have
an APSC sensor.
It's a smaller sensor is all.

Another thing that makes my brain hurt. I have photoshop elements 14. I can open the files, but I doubt that I can do things like you can.

Couldn't tell you.
You'll know if you try to open
and ARW file and see what happens.

I thought that was trumpet players.

:lmao:

This is one of the best ride photos I have seen!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I can imagine everyone else looking through their photos and being so confused that they didnt notice you behind them.

Nothing happened when I went to check,
but I was secretly hoping someone would say:
"Hey! Look at that guy behind us!"

Maybe they did if they looked at their
photopass/memory maker later.

Love this photo, the pumpkins are amazing.

Thanks! And I loved those pumpkins.
Disney just knows how to do it, ya know?

I see Minnie pointing/yelling at Goofy and this is the face that he is loosing his mind and plotting Minnie's demise.

 You could be right.

I dont know what this means, but I love it.

I think it means
if you "fetch it", i.e.
do something bad,
like you brought it on yourself?
Then you'll "catch it" as in a lickin'.
"Catching it" I've heard before.
I think in Tom Sawyer.

1. Yes.
2. 7:30am
3. Hollywood Studios

7. Walk
8. Beaches and Cream
9. duck

Noted.

Bonus: Where are you flying to next??

Hopefully somewhere warm.

Yep, I can see where that would be the sentiment.
We say similar things about various areas ranging from entire sections of the country to specific local neighborhoods. That’s a lot of little universes; lends a bit of credence to Multiverse Theory.

::yes::

I sense the voice of experience may be tipping its hand here.

I cannot confirm or deny anything.

I know it’s been my experience far too many time to forgive

Well, that just sucks.

Yep.
I forget who brought it up, but it made for a nice diversion doing the reading and research that afternoon.

I checked.
It was Darcy.

Hope you’re getting closer to normal.
That foolishness is tough to deal with.

Getting there.
I'm not typing and wincing
at the same time now.
Plus able to get out of bed
almost normally.

Interesting…
They’re not much known for interagency cooperation, so I suspect that either they are providing you with disinformation of you’re forwarding bogus details to them.

I'm sorry. I'm not allowed to say.

I’d like to see more varied options in the MK in the future but they have been headed in the right direction.

Except Pecos Bill's.
That burger bar was great.

Research done, aaaaaaaaand…
Pass.

Now, to be clear, tea is my main source of liquid intake.
Black tea, chilled or room temp, straight (no ice, no sugar, no lemon or fruit juice)
Milk is ok if the tea is hot, but tapioca?
Not a big fan of that particular root.
Oh, and “gummies” are just plain disgusting.

Actually not a fan of tapioca either,
but in the tea, it's okay.
Weird... but okay.
I usually drink some of them,
and then just skip the rest.

Hay, the waitress started it!
It was an unavoidable consequence.

Yeah, okay.
Blame the waitress!

I wonder if it's too late
to rescind my tip?

Sorry ‘bout that Chief.

Again… heal quickly sir.

Thanks.

Pays to stay sharp.

Or one risks falling flat.

Us too. Not many “dynamically aggressive” rides that Tam can handle, but that’s one we never miss.

Up until this trip at least.

c'est la vie

Yeah, for a coaster,
it's surprisingly gentle.

Hay, when the schnecken beckons…

I comes a runnin'.

Might be the result of how it appeared on my monitor.
Given the wide disparity of age and quality between the devices, I get very different perceptions of what images look like depending on weather I’m at home or in the office.

I always wonder about that
when I'm editing my photos.
"Will this be too dark?"

True.
Being just me and the Mrs. this last outing we spent a lot of time *not* running around and focused on two types of experiences in particular…
Those that may be disappearing in the near,
And those that most young’ens hate.

That's why I stayed to watch MSEP.
And why I did or didn't do other things.

Possibly, or maybe a bit more localized.
Like I said, sounds a bit more like a Mount’in dialect phrase rather than generally South’rn.
Same greater geographic area; very different historical experiences and influences.

I like the phrase, though.
Gets to the deeper point.

::yes::

1. No as you only have so much time to spend at Disney and why waste it.

9. Squirrel
Bonus: Did you see it? Yes I need to decide my retirement getaway trip- Disneyland or Disney World that is the question.
Scrolled through the pictures on my phone so couldn't see them that well but saw all the characters when I checked on my pc including Mickey & Minnie and yes Goofy's one eye is spooky.

Difficult decision indeed!

Good. So it's not just me.

Hi Ponz! Hope your back is doing better. I hate it when the smallest thing can set it off It should be becauwe of something fun or dangerous or dangerously fun.

1. Well, I may have been awake
a fair bit recently. Do I sleep in?
Yes, you finally get a little shuteye
2. What time do I wake up?

8:10 am - you are awakened by: KNOCK! KNOCK! "Housekeeping!"
3. Which park am I first off to today?

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD!
4. It's a multi park day!
How many times do I visit the nice folks
at bag check? (Yes, I had a bag to check.)

3
5. How many times am I asked for directions?
I'll make it easy on you.
0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 times?

3 times

6. What time do I get to my room
at the end of the day this time?

10:30 pm
7. I use a new method of getting
from one park to another. What is it?
(I've used bus, boat and monorail in the past.)
walking

TAXI

8. As a matter of fact I
do have an ADR.
Two as a matter of fact.
Guess the one that’s not in any park or in Springs.

Kona Cafe

9. What wild animal do I see today?
(On the way to that ADR.)

a snake
Bonus: Did you see it?

Talk about One of them thar flyin' machines up on a sign

After a seven minute wait for the bus,
(Seven minutes! Seven! What gives, Disney?)
7 minutes! How did you survive? That’s more than one tenth of an hour!!

Seconds later, we were driving under water,
past the Contemporary and Bay Lake Tower
and turning into the Magic Kingdom parking lot.
Whenever we’ve driven there, I always tell my youngest daughter that we’re driving underwater. I think she’s yet to believe me. But I still like telling her. Maybe one day she’ll realize it’s true and figure out that dad is not as dumb as he looks.

I rented a locker.
You know there’s a saying that goes something like “throw ahem*stuff*at the wall and see what sticks”? Many times when thinking of crazy answers for these questions I feel like I’m just throwing *stuff* at the wall. I must confess to a little fist pump for myself when finally, one of my pieces of *stuff* stuck to the wall. One of my wild guesses turned out to be right.

Man it felt good to be back!
I really needed this vacation.
I needed....
Disney.
I know the feeling. It’s now exactly two years since my last trip. My family used to go about every 18 months. I have nothing planned for the foreseeable future, for a few reasons I won’t get into. I don’t know when our next trip will be, and I miss it terribly. So I understand “needing Disney”. Or any vacation, for that matter.

topped with Bursting Green Apple Boba Balls, (?)
OK, my first thought about being topped with bursting balls would definitely not get past the DIS censors! But seriously, I find those things strange. Admittedly I have never actually tried one, but when we go to Menchies frozen yogurt my DD always gets them. I have no idea what they are made of, but she seems to enjoy them.

Yes, I know there's supposed
to be a grace period,
but I don't want to find out
that they've just started
to strictly enforce the times today.
The only experience I have with late FP is at Killamanjaro Safaris. I completely forgot about the FP but went as quickly as we could, getting there about 12 minutes after the window. Mickey still turned green, so there does seem to be a grace period. But like you say, if you can make it, might as well be on time.

Look at those people.
Tsk. Dreadful.

And their attire... :sad2:
One should always try
to maintain a certain
sense of style.

PhotoPass_Visiting_MK_390954204877b_zpstqafeaqt.jpg
I didn’t see that one coming. Well done! But did you remember the Grey Poupon?

And then, moments later...
flying over London.
Oh my.
I distinctly remember flying over London when I was 9 on my first trip. It gets me every time, too.

And there's this too:

DSC03411_zpska6tndhv.jpg
We wants the redhead!

(Did you notice the water bottle?
What kind of jerk tosses a water bottle
while riding Peter Pan???)
There’s also a plastic spoon. Really sad.

Ha! They spelled "Honour" wrong!
Budget cuts I suppose. Can’t afford the u’s.

What is my total time spent waiting
for Disney Transportation?

Closest guess wins.
No duplication of guesses,
first come first served.
No changes allowed.
All guesses must be in
before the next update.
Ahem, I do believe you are slipping in your old age. Despite not seeing my name in your list of guesses for transportation, I did guess 116 minutes, way back on page 20. :)

For the record, I saw Minnie before my gaze settled upon that thing. I think it’s the row of lights under the eye that makes Goofy seem to have a mouth full of sharp, shiny teeth.

Be specifically vague.
1. yes
2. 7:20am
3. DHS
4. 2
5. 3
6. 11:35pm
7. Walking (if I guessed correctly, from DHS to Epcot, or maybe vice versa)
8. Beaches & Cream
9. Snake

Bonus: It’s nice to see Disney found a new sponsor for Frontierland. Maybe they can afford to add the u back in honour now.

Hi Ponz! Hope your back is doing better.

Hi Tammie!
It's going to be a while
before I can move without any pain,
but I'm back at work now.
Not happy... but there ya go.
At least I'm able to go to work.
Couldn't have done that yesterday.

I hate it when the smallest thing can set it off It should be becauwe of something fun or dangerous or dangerously fun.

I can think of something to do
that might cause lower back pain
that is fun.

But this is a family board, so...

Actually, more of that might be therapeutic.
I'll have to bring this up to Ruby.

7 minutes! How did you survive? That’s more than one tenth of an hour!!

It wasn't easy,
let me tell you!

Totally unacceptable
and completely out of
character.

Whenever we’ve driven there, I always tell my youngest daughter that we’re driving underwater. I think she’s yet to believe me. But I still like telling her.

I'd do the same if we drove.
But I've never done that with
the girls.
And I don't think I've done it
on the bus.
Maybe.

If you're lucky, you'll be able
to time it next time
to pass under it as a boat
is passing over you.

Maybe one day she’ll realize it’s true

Probably'll take the boat
being there.

and figure out that dad is not as dumb as he looks.

Well.......

Yeah. Too easy.

Sometimes when someone
lobs up a nice and easy one,
it's best to just catch it
and toss it back with a
sad little shake of the head.

And you were one of only three that guessed that.
I honestly thought it wasn't that hard a question.

Yeah. I hadn't been for 10 years.
Then went four years apart.
And now, 3 times in 2 years.
With another (albeit quick) trip
coming up.
Never thought that would happen.

But I totally get missing it
for not having been in a while.

OK, my first thought about being topped with bursting balls would definitely not get past the DIS censors!

Heh. I think I skirted the censors
by a narrow margin as it is.

But seriously, I find those things strange. Admittedly I have never actually tried one, but when we go to Menchies frozen yogurt my DD always gets them.

Never knew they were available elsewhere.
They tasted okay though.
Still... weird to have them
come up the straw.
Especially when you aren't
expecting one.

I have no idea what they are made of, but she seems to enjoy them.

I Googled Boba balls
and they're tapioca balls.
But I'm sure the Disney ones
are not tapioca balls.
They're not chewy at all.

Dunno.

The only experience I have with late FP is at Killamanjaro Safaris. I completely forgot about the FP but went as quickly as we could, getting there about 12 minutes after the window. Mickey still turned green, so there does seem to be a grace period. But like you say, if you can make it, might as well be on time.

I had read that the grace period
was 15 minutes.
But I think I recently read
that they were going to start
eliminating that.

I didn't want to put it to the test.

I didn’t see that one coming. Well done! But did you remember the Grey Poupon?

Thanks!

And... of course.
I'm not an uncultured buffoon,
you know.

I distinctly remember flying over London when I was 9 on my first trip. It gets me every time, too.

It's really an incredible sight.
I don't know why Disney doesn't
do more things like that.

We wants the redhead!

One does,
doesn't one?

There’s also a plastic spoon. Really sad.

Someone else noticed that too.
:sad2:

Budget cuts I suppose. Can’t afford the u’s.

Ah. Of course.
Shanghai took a lot of bucks.

Ahem, I do believe you are slipping in your old age. Despite not seeing my name in your list of guesses for transportation, I did guess 116 minutes, way back on page 20. :)

Whoopsie!
Thanks for the heads up.
Fixed.

For the record, I saw Minnie before my gaze settled upon that thing. I think it’s the row of lights under the eye that makes Goofy seem to have a mouth full of sharp, shiny teeth.

Okay.
That's four people
who agree that it's creepy.

3. DHS
4. 2
5. 3
6. 11:35pm

If they never look up,
I'll be good for a bit.

Is it just me?
Or does Goofy's eye creep you out?
And were you so focused on that,
that you failed to see Minnie?
Or Mickey?
Bonus points if you tell me.
T_Man: Honestly I did fail to see Minnie until you mentioned her. Mickey was the first one I spotted. Goofy's eye doen't creep me out as much as Goofy himself does.
Lady H: First words out of her mouth were "that's not Goofy is it?" She did notice all the characters.

1. Well, I may have been awake
a fair bit recently. Do I sleep in?
T_Man: No. Too many people to see and WDW to do. Or something like that.

T_Man: Yachtman's Steakhouse
Lady H: Captain's Grille

T_Man: Rabbit
Lady H: Squirrel

T_Man:
Lady H: Do you have clearance to land at Frontierland in MK?

FFR: If I see it or Lady H see's it, just know that we've both seen it cuz obviously we're going to show it to the other so we can get a laugh out it.

Phew! Just speed-read 20 pages to try and catch up! I haven't been reading the boards for a couple of weeks now, but I will try to get my priorities in order from now on. I'm going to skip the contest, though- nothing personal.

ALTHOUGH, on another subject, I have a bone to pick with you:

I've been job hunting (lots of activity, no job yet) and had a discussion with Bill about upcoming vacations. We had another Disney trip scheduled for the last week of Jan 2017 (the last week of our AP's) and a few days ago just booked a non-refundable Panama Canal cruise for the last two weeks of March. I tried to tell Him that potential employers aren't going to hire someone with 3 weeks vacation already planned by the end of March, so the Disney trip might have to go.

"Nuh uh!" he said. "That guy (meaning Pkondz) got to go by himself so why can't I?"

Blasphemy!

No problem.
It's not a requirement.

Hi Pokndz

Spied Micky but had to look for Minnie.Good that the old back is starting to recover.
