Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

Thank goodness you didn't lose all your photos! Have you ever looked into subscribing to Carbonite? It is well worth the annual fee because it backs up every night. (I lost my photos about five years ago and, after chastising me for not ever backing up on my own, my husband bought it for me).

I'm glad you got them backed up! That blue screen of death is the pits!

Hey, I'm glad the show will go on! I look forward to your TR updates! :)

Shows are good. Riveting tale too. Drama. Suspense. Horror. Beginning, middle and end. Check!

Now, I can sleep well knowing there will be more show. G'Night! :)

 G'Night Liesa... er... G'Morning, now.
And you're probably writing your test right about now.

You gave yourself excellent IT support. If you also have a knack for tracking down stolen laptops, I would hire you. Payment in Dole Whips!

Oooh.... Almost makes it worthwhile to quit my job and become a 'puter detective.

How'd it get stolen? Out of your house? Grab and dash?

:scared1:
nooooooo_luke_skywalker.gif

Yup. That was about it.

I was too tired to be happily relieved.
It took hours to get everything done.

Hmmm... Not quite sure what you're trying to say here.
You're dancing teddy bear says everyone needs to do jumping jacks
unless you are a fairy with pixie dust?

Yeah, Sigmund is a bit of a broken record with that particular diagnoses.
Tell him about all the other voices in your head...
I've found that usually gets him sidetracked for a while.

All of them? Who has that kind of time?
Can I just start with a dozen or so?

 He cut off his freaking tail!
He's not a (green anole) lizard, those don't grow back!

I get it...
It's like playing 20 questions with a pre-teen.

OK, so whats Kay's favorite dish?...
When traveling?...
In Florida?...
In the summer?...
In the general vicinity of Epcot?...

See? Easy!

 :lmao: Frightening...

And mostly because, that's precisely how I'd have pictured it as well.

Yup.

That's it. Just... yup.

Just hang one on the wall right over the pool table.
Install a kegerator while you're at it and you'll have basically converted the kitchen/dinning area into your own private sports bar (and the calories consumed while eating over the sink still don't count).

Perfect. Just think of all the pizza and chicken wings I'll eat!
And lose weight while I'm eating them!

Quite the tale of woe...
Excellent work on your part to nurse that brick up to the point of getting the back-up pulled off.
I've had to yank a couple of hard-drives and wire them up like external storage devices to save data before.
It's still scary when your P/C squats like that though.

Yeah. It wasn't fun.
Stuff should just work. Forever.

Time for a new laptop (and the pain of the unexpected expense).

<sigh> I know.
It's still limping along and I'm trying to figure out which way to go.

But most importantly...
We get more pkondz TR.

Yeah, sorry about that.

After his recent announcement... you had to use that line?

Backs up everything not just photos, I presume?
I have a backup external hard drive... which would be fine if I used it on a regular basis!
I just hate the idea of paying someone to do something which I'm just to lazy,
or stupid to do on my own!

How much?
I keep getting a pop up from Dell to back up,
and another one from Mcafee.

I'm glad you got them backed up! That blue screen of death is the pits!

Thanks! I was really, really worried there.
And then so relieved.... and then even more worried.
And now relieved again.

Welcome to my own personal emotional rollercoaster.

.

Yes. It backs everything up for about $60 USD a year. The thing I like most is that I can access all my files from anywhere.

Wow! What an ordeal. So glad you got everything backed up. This just happened to me. Luckily there wasn't much on the computer yet, since it is new. I am banned from "fixing" the computer in my house. So glad it worked out for you. I would have been completely stressed. You handled it well.

All of them? Who has that kind of time?
Can I just start with a dozen or so?
Heck, just two or three will keep him sidetracked for a month or more.

See? Easy!
And just as effective in terms of extracting details, I see.

Best get busy then, you're missin' out.

After his recent announcement... you had to use that line?
Well... I didn't say that he was winning.
All things considered, I more shocked that fool is still breathing air than I am at "the announcement".

Welcome to my own personal emotional rollercoaster.

I'd still be vaguely worried it may ever happen again...

My emotional roller coaster right now treads lightly on panic and anxiety about the upcoming weekend I have ahead- flying a new airline I haven't before, and solo trip to a friends wedding reception.. pro is it's in TX, so it'll be warmer than OH, and I get to see family I haven't seen in a few years now. So the pros outweigh the panic/anxiety. Though i'm one of those people who will have anxiety until i'm through security and on the plane and in the air.. then I can relax.. and I have more than 24hrs until that all can happen on the going there hahah ;)

"Okay, don't panic. Reboot."

Good first steps...when in doubt, reboot.

Okay, it was a pain, but it's up and running.

And, yay!

I have about a year's worth of photos on this thing that I haven't backed up yet!
Including four photo shoots and... all the photos for the TR.

Now that it's up and running, that's job #1!

And, oh no!

So... all photos backed up.
And bonus. Because I'm scared to turn off my laptop,
I've gotten all the photos for the TR uploaded to Photobucket.

And, yay! Because the show must go on!

Popping in to say I'm glad you didn't lose your photos or anything else on the computer. I've gotten that "memory dump" message on my laptop and the first thing I do is unplug it and take out the battery. I also subscriber to carbonite. I think three years was $279US. I believe one year was $99, so I saved a little by taking the three year package.

It would have been sad not to get to hear the end of the tale properly told, so I'm glad we get more TR!

The BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/

And I got it running! And it only took me...
Three and a half hours.

So it's like you're working with the ADR system on Disney's website.

Blue screen.
A schwack of text... culminating in "Emergency disk dump".

Yikes! I'm not an IT guy, but I know I wouldn't want my computer taking a dump on my hard drive.

I think... think... it's a heating issue.
It gets too hot and... poof!

So just put it in the refrigerator. Duh.

So... all photos backed up.
And bonus. Because I'm scared to turn off my laptop,
I've gotten all the photos for the TR uploaded to Photobucket.

Whew. Never a good feeling when you lose memories. That's happened to me before.

So the bad news?
I was very, very seriously considering ending the TR.

Oh, my. Yes. Horrible. Quite a pity.

But... Sorry folks.
Looks like you'll have to put up with me for a while longer.

The show will go on.

CRAP!!!!!!

I mean, uh, Yay! So glad you rescued the TR!:thumbsup2

Wow, what an ordeal!! That is the worst...but glad you seem to be ok and moving on!!!

Yes. It backs everything up for about $60 USD a year. The thing I like most is that I can access all my files from anywhere.

Interesting.... might have to look into that...

Sigh, stolen out of DD18's bag in the cafeteria at university, when she left it unguarded and went to get a napkin.

Ah, youth.
So innocent, so... well, let's just leave it at "innocent".

Poor laptop was 6 days old

No! I don't know whether to  or

a birthday present that someone else helped themself to. Happy Birthday - I got you a life lesson that some people do bad things.

Well, that's the gift that keeps on giving.

Clearly you will have to supplant this emotional rollercoaster ride. I prescribe 10 rides of BTMRR, at night!

Yes doctor.

Wow! What an ordeal. So glad you got everything backed up. This just happened to me. Luckily there wasn't much on the computer yet, since it is new.

Is that what you'd call a silver lining?

Naw. It doesn't outweigh a crashing new computer.

I am banned from "fixing" the computer in my house.

 I sense a story here.

So glad it worked out for you. I would have been completely stressed. You handled it well.

Well, I definitely wasn't thrilled about it, that's for sure!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICKEY MOUSE!
mickey86birthday.jpg

He doesn't look a day over 80!

Heck, just two or three will keep him sidetracked for a month or more.

A good. Start him off small.
Good idea.

And just as effective in terms of extracting details, I see.

Yes.

Well... I didn't say that he was winning.
All things considered, I more shocked that fool is still breathing air than I am at "the announcement".

He's looking more and more like he's had a hard life, isn't he?
If that's "winning" I don't wanna know what losing is.

I'd still be vaguely worried it may ever happen again...

Oh, I am.
But at least now if it happens, I won't lose anything.

My emotional roller coaster right now treads lightly on panic and anxiety about the upcoming weekend I have ahead- flying a new airline I haven't before,

New airline? Or new-to-you airline?

and solo trip to a friends wedding reception.. pro is it's in TX, so it'll be warmer than OH, and I get to see family I haven't seen in a few years now.

Well, there you go. That makes it worthwhile!

So the pros outweigh the panic/anxiety.

That's the way I see it too.

So... how does one go about going pro with that panic/anxiety thing?
Does it pay well?

Though i'm one of those people who will have anxiety until i'm through security and on the plane and in the air.. then I can relax.. and I have more than 24hrs until that all can happen on the going there hahah ;)

Interesting. Most people have more trouble while they're in the air.

Good first steps...when in doubt, reboot.

Learned that the hard way when I lost one of my galoshes in a muddy bog.

And, yay!

And, oh no!

::yes::

And, yay! Because the show must go on!

Indeed it must.
Sorry about that.

Popping in to say I'm glad you didn't lose your photos or anything else on the computer.

Me too! It was touch and go there for a while.
I was going to "touch" the computer with a hammer and go buy a new one.

I've gotten that "memory dump" message on my laptop and the first thing I do is unplug it and take out the battery.

Why? Was that something you heard? Read? Were told?

I also subscriber to carbonite. I think three years was $279US. I believe one year was $99, so I saved a little by taking the three year package.

Another carboniter.
Maybe I'll just take a peak at their website.

It would have been sad not to get to hear the end of the tale properly told, so I'm glad we get more TR!

Unfortunately, yes. You will hear about it.

Ah yes. I remember that one.
And it's a good one.

So it's like you're working with the ADR system on Disney's website.

Don't be silly.
Nothing's that bad!

Yikes! I'm not an IT guy, but I know I wouldn't want my computer taking a dump on my hard drive.

Well, it did scare the sh.... uh.... it scared the heck out of me.

So just put it in the refrigerator. Duh.

:sad2: Don't be silly. I just have to use it outside.

That's colder than our fridge.

Whew. Never a good feeling when you lose memories. That's happened to me before.

It is? Huh. I don't remember that happening to me.

Oh, my. Yes. Horrible. Quite a pity.

::yes::

I mean, uh, Yay! So glad you rescued the TR!:thumbsup2

Uh, huh. Sure.

Wow, what an ordeal!! That is the worst...but glad you seem to be ok and moving on!!!

So far the laptop is functioning (almost) normally.
But all the data's saved, so we're good to go.

What time does Kay wake up?
Hint: It ain't early.

What ride do we go on that costs us time
because we FP'd it?

What drink has been on my list for ages...
And I finally drink (for the first time.)

We have park hoppers.
Do we use them today?

And finally... lots of choices here.
Where's our Dinner ADR for?

Coming in real late here, but lets say 10:30am, Nemo, Grey Goose Slush, no park hopper use, and Teppan Edo for ADR.

The Blue Screen of Death.

I've had that happen too many times to count. Glad you were able to solve the problem and the show will go on. Glad you weren't like me and abruptly end the TR. Hmmm. Wonder if I should ever finish that old TR Lady H and I started now that I think about it?

Anyways, good luck along the rest of the way. Hopefully you get all the problems resolved.

Me too! It was touch and go there for a while.
I was going to "touch" the computer with a hammer and go buy a new one.

I've thought about getting a new one. Mine is from 2012 and often has "problems", but then I'd have to go to Windows 10. We upgraded our Windows 8 machine that we use for Netflix and Amazon TV viewing, but I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to do anything on it to see if I like Windows 10. In fact I haven't even had a chance to see if the upgrade installed properly. I think it had problems.

Why? Was that something you heard? Read? Were told?

No. Nothing educated. It just seemed a good way to stop it from "dumping". Sort of a really hard reboot.
