Canadian Buffoon's Disney With a Teen Vacation - 08/13 - The Wrap

but I will.....relieved you decided on that not touching it, I mean I hope you at least washed your hands

Well as for the not touching.... nevermind...

Why would I have to wash my hands? Please elaborate.

I AM NOT LETTING ANYTHING HANG OUT!!!

:lmao:

I think we need another pillow fight to disperse all this aggression!

::yes:: Agreed!!!

Nobody needs to let anything hang out, nor do we care if ponzie is touching it or not, and lets not worry about the double entendre or dangly bits. We'll just have a good old fashioned pillow fight in the harem like ponzie likes and we will all be done with it.

You don't need to let anything hang out... but it's allowed... possibly encouraged.

Besides maybe it will get me extra bonus points! :teeth:

You already got some... you want more? You gotta come up with new photos.
But don't hesitate to re-post those ones.

You know. For prostate.

Posterity! I meant posterity!

or not.

You know I appreciate it! Gives me a great excuse to take a much needed break!

Soon.... soon...

Gratuitous?
Absolutely, and I approve none the less.

::yes:: The world needs more of that.
I firmly believe it would solve most problems.

Hoping to get the next update done by this evening, folks.

Take your time.

No offense. I mean, I really do enjoy your TR's and your writing style.

But if your procrastination means more pillow fights... Well, just take your time.

No, Rob! There is no proof of anything.

And that's the sad part. It was the best thread ever.

Ain't disagreeing with your assessment, but...
it's the absence of that "best thread ever" that confirms the point.

Just sayin'.

Do Fish Drink?

Sunday August 23rd, 2015.
I won't soon forget this day.
Some bad things happened.

Oh, no one got hurt (much).
No one was unlawfully detained, or robbed,
or a million other things that can go wrong in
the course of everyday life.

But still.
There were a couple of events on this day.
Two to be precise, where things did not go so well.

And really. I shouldn't have been surprised.
After all, Kay and I are similar in so many ways...
yet different in so many others.

But first...

I don't remember. I really don't.
Did I wake up because of my alarm?
Or did I just wake up on my own?
I'm betting it was the alarm.

In any event, I was up at 8:00am.
I started to get ready to meet the day's challenges.
I might not have been so eager if I knew what was in store for me.

Kay had asked me to try to wake her around 8:30.
"Try" being the operative word.
I really didn't know if she'd get up much before noon, honestly.
But I dutifully slammed a pillow down on her head around 8:30.

She got up at 8:35!
I couldn't believe it!
Maybe being in WDW has a restorative effect on human sleep cycles.

I grabbed our mugs and headed out to refill them.

The various buildings at Pop all have the same design.
They're all shaped like T's and have a distinctive icon
at the end of each wing encompassing stairs.
Our 60s section had Yo-Yo's.
So to get to the ground from our room,
I would exit the door, turn right to the corner,
(corner room, remember? No? Why not?
Are you not hanging on to every single word I type?)
turn right at the corner and proceed to the middle of the
end of the wing.
I then turn left, walk down a short walkway and enter the yo-yo.
Down four flights (four.... why did it have to be four?),
then reverse my course when I hit the ground back towards the building
where I can then turn left or right at the sidewalk.
Confused?

Yes?

Then my work here is done.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs
and then to the sidewalk, I had to stop.
Five ducks were waddling across the intersection in single file.
Obviously, Donald, Daisy and Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
They were completely unconcerned with me, standing a foot away,
and were in absolutely no hurry.
It was hilarious.
I only regret that I hadn't brought my camera or iPod with me.

I waited patiently for them to pass then made my way
to the Classic Hall food court.
I refilled our mugs and popped back up to our room
(Still four flights? Yep...)
No sign of the ducks.

While Kay was busy making herself beautiful,
well, more beautiful I suppose,
I took the time to cut the moleskin bandages into
manageable pieces...
With the world's dullest, tiniest, most useless pair of scissors.
Cutting with those stupid things was the worst!
A word to the wise. If you buy a sewing kit at WDW,
just throw out the scissors and use your teeth.
Trust me. You'll thank me for it.

Eventually, Kay was ready,
including moleskin painstakingly cut, placed on her blisters.
She then announced that her toes hurt, too.
I suggested getting regular Band-Aids for them.
We could pick some up on our way out.

Back to Classic Hall.
Got the Band-Aids.
"Okay." I said. "Do you want to just wait in here and watch for a bus?
Or do you want to wait outside?"
Inside = cool and comfortable
Outside = blazing heat like the surface of the sun.

It was a moot point since a MK bus pulled up as I asked the question.
"Never mind. Our bus is here."

Total wait time for the morning bus: zero minutes.
It was 9:56am.

In just a few minutes, we were being disgorged from our bio-diesel chariot.
As we casually strolled towards the entrance,
Kay began to be showered with Pixie dust.
As we passed under the monorail track, I pointed it out to her.
She mentioned, "Wouldn't it be cool to be walking under it when a monorail passed by?"

A monorail promptly passed over us.

As we approached bag-check,
I pointed out the sign prohibiting selfish sticks.
"What happens if you bring one?" She asked.
Good question, I thought.
"I'm not sure. They probably will keep it for you until you leave."
And as I said it, we approached the bag-check table where
the guard pulled a selfish stick out of a bag.
"I'm sorry sir, but you can't bring this in the park.
I'll call someone who will give you a claim check for it
and you can pick it up when you leave."
"But can I bring in my nunchucks and thermonuclear device?"
"Those are fine sir, as long as the nunchucks don't extend."

So that's what they do.

We were briefly held up as the guard asked a CM if my
Gorilla pod was allowed. It was. It doesn't extend.

We approached the tapstiles and "ding!" We were in!
Or... not.
Once again, Kay had some trouble with the finger scan.
This time, she made sure to use her thumb as previously directed.
And it didn't work so the CM told her to try her finger.
Yep. That worked.

What???

So she was told to always use her finger from now on.
:confused3

DSC09451_zpsssbnvfuz.jpg

We passed under the tunnel and paused briefly to watch some performers dance.

DSC09457_zps0deen6cq.jpg

But not for long.
We have rides to ride!
Heat to avoid!

Hot!

But you quickly forget about heat when you get that first glimpse...

DSC09458_zpsd1dw8cqv.jpg

Ahhhhh..... home.
Takes your breath away.
Or maybe the heat did that...

Whichever... hot!
We ducked into the Confectionery and cut through as many stores as we could.

DSC09461_zpsmtx7gjl3.jpg

We crossed the side street and ducked back into the next open store.
Eventually we had no choice but to dump back out onto the street.

But at least you have this to look at!

DSC09463_zpsclcrm3lt.jpg

Our first Fastpass time was already due, so we turned left...

DSC09467_zpsnxtdyzyl.jpg

zipped through Liberty Square and made our way down through Frontierland.
We didn't exactly have to fight our way through the crowds...

DSC09469_zps14ivsnui.jpg

DSC09471_zpsldmjhrm9.jpg

And soon approached!...

Splash! And walked right on by it since our FP was for BTMRR.

Now I'm guessing some of you might be a tad perplexed why our first FP
wasn't for 7DMT.
Well, since our FP window was already open when we booked our trip,
the only time available was for later in the afternoon.
So 7DMT was going to just have to sit and wait for a while.

(And some of you are already mentally calculating your points...
No rope drop, BTMRR, 7DMT and... what? What??????)

We arrived at BTMRR,

P1020850_zpsdwl7rziz.jpg

scanned our bands,
and were on board in just a few minutes.
What can I say about BTMRR....

Man I love this ride!!!
And yet... Even though I made a note...
Even though I told Kay...
Even though she said she wanted to...

Somehow, I still haven't ridden it at night!

Oh, well.
Pictures. Because, BTMRR.

DSC09477_zps0h6oaaac.jpg

DSC09487_zps3phc0wqd.jpg

DSC09492_zps9srxuzhg.jpg

After riding what is arguably one of the best rides in Disney,
(and if you argue that it isn't, you will officially be deducted two points)
we were in the mood for more adrenalin producing rides.
We had time before our next FP, so now it was time for...

DSC09472_zpsyxwwpxdx.jpg

Yes! Now! Now we go on Splash!

The wait time was posted as 35 minutes which we figured wasn't too bad.

P1020851_zpsslmqumce.jpg

And normally it probably wouldn't be,
(Oh, sure. If I was by myself, 5 minutes would be about max, but...)
but the heat!!!
Standing in line for this ride was brutal!
It took a while just to get inside.
The line slowly snaked its way towards the loading area.
Interspersed along the way were round vent holes in the ceiling.
And cold air was blowing out of these vents.
I would position myself under one and breathe!... pause....
and then scurry to catch up to the end of the queue and pray
for the next vent.

Soon we were boarding our log.
Which sounds really weird, doesn't it?

And this is where things took a decided turn for the nasty.
I mentioned this at the start of this chapter.
I also mentioned that Kay and I are very different in some ways...

Yeah.

I know we rode this as a family back in '09, but I guess she only remembered the drop.
Makes sense. It's certainly the most memorable part of the ride.
Well, I guess she was expecting raging rapids
and steep drops...

All the time.

She was bored.

I'd never read any of the Br'er Rabbit stories to her.
Hmmm... come to think of it, I've never read any, period!
So she didn't get the theme and didn't think much of it.
And she wasn't having fun like she just did on BTMRR.

I tried to lighten the mood a bit,
but she just complained about "Dad jokes".
I'm always throwing out a poor pun or weak joke as I think of them.
Kay refers to them as "Dad jokes".
Usually she just rolls her eyes, or shakes her head.
(And once in a very rare while, she chuckles.
She has no clue that keeps me going.)
But today, she was really not in the mood.

Maybe it was that, and the heat, and the line.
I don't know.
But she started to complain.
"This is boring."
"It's not boring. Look around."
"You said this would be fun, it's not."
"There's fun stuff, it just takes a little while."
And on and on.

And then she said she wanted to get off.
Not because of fear of the big drop,
but because she wanted to do something else.

She was definitely getting on my last nerve.

And then she did.
Get on my last nerve, I mean.

"I'm hungry. I want something to eat."
"Fine. As soon as we get off the ride we'll get something."
"I don't want to wait. I'm hungry now."
"Well, you'll just have to wait."
"I want something now! This ride is stupid!"

I will admit. I lost it. I'd had enough.
And the day had just started too.

"Fine! You want something to eat? Fine!
What do you want! Tell me right now
since you just have to have it this second!"

I thought that would shut her up.
But no.

"I want Chinese food." She immediately quipped.
I should have known. She loves Chinese food.

I totally gave up.
I threw in the towel.
I whipped out my iPod, right there in the middle of the ride,
Googled the nearest Chinese restaurant and placed an order.
For delivery.

I gotta say though, there are three things that turned out well here.
1. It made Kay happy again.
2. The food turned out to be pretty good, actually.
3. They are really, really fast with their delivery time.

Heck, they were so fast, they got our order to us even before the ride was over.

And just in case you don't believe how fast they were,
I've included the ride photo (with close-up).

Kay had some Shi Jo King and I had the Hai Am Ki Ding

-----------------------------------------------------------
A little back story.
Kay and I knew we wanted to do something fun for a Splash photo.
We came up with a few ideas, but this is the one that stuck
for ease of set up as well as for fun concept.
Before we left, I had to get some Chinese food take-out boxes.
I went to a local restaurant that we used to order from called Miriwa.
I went in around lunch time. The place was dead.
I stood around waiting for a while and finally a young lady showed up.
I told her that I only wanted two take out boxes.
I assumed they would just give them to me,
but I did say that I would gladly pay for them
and even order two orders of rice... just don't put the rice in them.
She rudely told me that "We don't do that!"
and refused to help me.
I thanked her politely, left, and now I refuse to eat there
because "I just don't do that!"

Apparently they don't need the business, so I guess we're both happy.

I drove to another place and spoke with a very nice owner who apologized
and explained that they didn't use those containers.
(They use styrofoam containers.)
But she did tell me of another place that had them.
I went to the third place and they just handed over two containers, gratis.
Which is really what should've happened in the first place, no?

When we left the hotel that morning, I disassembled the cartons,
packed chopsticks and flattened cartons in my camera bag,
and reassembled them while in line for Splash.

And of course Kay and I didn't fight at all on the ride.
She loved it and while we weren't busy planning our poses,
she was laughing and enjoying the whole thing.
Me too!
-----------------------------------------------------------

After miraculously managing to stay dry,
we had another Fastpass that was due, so we made our way over to PP.
Standing in the short FP line, Kay announced that she wanted to ride a blue boat.
So naturally, in accordance with all Kay's wishes being granted this day,
we got a blue boat.

I just love this ride.
But it's not the flying over Neverland that does it for me,
(or never-never land, right @jandlinz ?)
It's trundling down the track and then.... Airborne! Flying!
It's flying over London.
If the ride had just those two elements....
Well, it'd be a pretty darned short ride.

Still, it's all I want.

When we exited PP, Kay was looking forward to trying
something I'd suggested to her pre-trip.

Last trip, I had ridden IASW. Which is admittedly my least liked ride in all of Disney.
But I rode it while blaring ACDC and Aerosmith into my skull.
Well, she wanted to try it too.

Now here's an important tip, if you too want to risk your sanity
by riding this thing.
And this is very important.
Everybody listening?

Put your earbuds in and crank up the music before approaching the ride.
Don't wait until you're on the boat... or even in line.
It's just too risky.
Trust me. You don't want any of that in your head!

I told Kay to get her earbuds out and get her music started, when...
I stopped dead in my tracks.
Kay immediately noticed that the blood had drained out of my face.
"What's the matter?" She asked.
I numbly held out my earbuds to her.

One of the foam pads was missing.
It must've become dislodged after I'd used them on the plane!

I stood there dumbly for a second until Kay said,
"You can still use them, they just won't be as comfortable."
I stuck it in my ear.
It hurt a little.
But the pain was nothing in comparison to the agony I would otherwise suffer.

We cranked up our tunes and headed in to face the ultimate evil.

P1020856_zpsezspfzrr.jpg

There was a bit of a line, no more than five minutes long.
I kept my left hand firmly held to my ear.
I wasn't going to take any risks.

We boarded our boat and set out.
Kay listened to some Ghosttown, Linkin Park and Three Days Grace.
I started off with some classic Who.

"I know you've deceived me, now here's a surprise"
"I know that you have 'cause there's magic in my eyes"

I gazed into the soulless eyes of the boy on the gondola and nodded.
And every time I heard the refrain "I can see for miles and miles"
I would look into the creatures' dull, lifeless eyes staring off into the abyss
and know I picked the right song.

We survived. Unscathed.
My God, we are brave people.
Are you not in awe??
Bonus points if you say you are.
Be superfluous with your praise.

I glanced at the time and saw we could fit in one more ride before our lunch ADR.

Speaking of which, I know a few of you thought I was throwing you a red-herring
when I mentioned that I booked well within our ADR window.
I wanted to make sure there was an even playing field for the contest,
since I had mentioned previously that I did not get an ADR for BOG.
I didn't know if anyone remembered that or not, so... there ya go.

But first, we have some ghosts to visit!

We made our way past the Tangled Tinkle Spot...

DSC09493_zps34e1kqis.jpg

and got in line for HM.

DSC09495_zpscahrkkkg.jpg

I pointed out da rulz for Kay and she liked it and dutifully snapped a pic.

P1020860_zps98grqysh.jpg

The queue moved at a steady pace and I snapped pics along the way.
So, since you've never seen the HM queue before... :rolleyes2
And since it's my favourite ride in all of Disney...
You're gonna see 'em.

DSC09496_zpsgzwhrxxg.jpg

DSC09497_zps4awqn0cl.jpg

DSC09498_zpshxoeyhk8.jpg

DSC09500_zps5iajlgyf.jpg

I pointed out the tombstone of Madame Leota so Kay could watch it do its thing.
She was very excited when she saw her move and open her eyes.

We got to the doors and waited a moment.
They opened and the CM urged us in.
"Please hurry. There's no time to kill."
Kay quickly piped up in my ear, "Dad jokes for the dead."

I just about killed myself laughing.

We managed to ride without becoming a permanent guest,
rid ourselves of a pesky hitchhiker and exited the ride.

It had been an hour since our Chinese food, so we were hungry again.
Time for lunch.

Continued Next Post!

Continued From Previous Post!

We headed out and retraced our steps from just a few moments earlier.
We passed the Tangled Tinkle Spot, IASW and PP.
We passed ETwB...

P1020869_zps76m7p4as.jpg

So that rules out CP, CHH, LTT and the Plaza.
Heck it rules out almost everything, except...

DSC09506_zpssj5ksnib.jpg

P1020870_zpsdnqvdd49.jpg

Be Our Guest!

"Hey! Wait a second! You said you didn't get an ADR for BOG!
What gives?!? We want our money back!"

I did say that, didn't I?
And it's true, too.
When I started booking FPs and ADRs, I knew that due to our late start,
there were going to be some things that just weren't going to happen.
BOG was one of those things that I couldn't get.
The Wishes Dessert Party was another.
But I kept checking and lo and behold, one day a BOG spot opened up.
So I quickly grabbed it and that's where we're going to have lunch today.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Another little side note.
I never did get an ADR for the Wishes Dessert Party.
I tried several times a day, every day.
Once, a spot opened up.
But it was right in the middle of something else that we really wanted.
I checked to see if I could move the other thing. I could!
I went back to book the Party and it was already gone.
Maybe next time.
In hindsight though, we had enough sweets to last us
so we didn't really miss it that much.
-----------------------------------------------------------

We checked in at the kiosk and made our way past the ever-so-hopeful line up
of hapless, ADR-less souls and waited for our buzzer to, well... buzz.

DSC09507_zpssm9slige.jpg

P1020871_zpsqdfwddvz.jpg

We only waited a minute or less before it was time to enter.
We handed our buzzer to a CM who confirmed that we had pre-ordered
and were told to sit wherever we liked.
I guided us over to the West Wing.
It looked full, but a family was just vacating a table.
We hovered nearby as a CM cleaned up, then we appropriated the table.
We were seated right beside the painting.

DSC09509_zpsbjchstuj.jpg

DSC09514_zpsu4gj01vx.jpg

Within moments, our food arrived.
We had both ordered identical meals:
The Braised Pork with a Master's Cupcake for dessert.
As the previous time I had this, I really enjoyed it.
Kay was a little less enthusiastic about her meal,
it was a little too rich for her.
But we both enjoyed the cupcakes!

DSC09510_zpswnmzacnd.jpg

When we had finished eating and drinking
(copious amounts of drinking... Free refills! Yay!)
We took a few more pictures and then headed out for our next adventure.

DSC09521_zpssslx7mpy.jpg

Looks like the Beast still has a bit of time left...

DSC09524_zpshwcktsyk.jpg

I pointed out the falling snow to Kay.
She asked me to try to take a picture.
I did my best, but really, I think this would be better shown in a video.
Anyway... here's the pic.

DSC09525_zpsym8tvcbt.jpg

Crappy, but there you go.
A circular polarizer would've helped a lot. But I didn't have one with me.

When we were going towards the restaurant earlier,
Kay mentioned that she'd like a photo of the waterfall.
So as we left, I focused on that.
I pointed out the Pantsless Prince as we passed by and continued out
onto the bridge.

P1020879_zpsktkbqizw.jpg

Unbeknownst to me, Kay had stopped to take a couple of photos.

P1020880_zpsofkf9dvb.jpg

She saw my back, heading down the bridge and started to call out to me.
"Dad!... Dad!... Dad!!...."

Nope. Didn't hear a thing.
She says she pretty much yelled, but I didn't stop.
She may have been a little miffed with me.

Maybe.

But I did get her waterfall picture, so it's all good, right?

DSC09531_zpsldolndsd.jpg

I then posed and she took this picture, just for you guys.

DSC09527_zpsuod0xp7t.jpg

He's an ugly little critter, isn't he?
And yet... if you look at him, you sort of pity him a little, don't you?
But enough about me. Moving on with our story...

Let's see..... Have I answered all the bonus questions?
Rope drop... check.
FPs... check.
Lunch ADR... check.
Ride I'm dragged onto against my will... nope.

With full bellies, Kay wanted to know what was next on our agenda.
We still had one Fastpass for 7DMT left, but it wasn't for a while still.
Kay suggested we check on the wait time for 7DMT so we headed that way.
I figured that if by some miracle the line was short, we could ride it and either
change that FP to something else or ride it twice.
Of course, as we approached, we could see that the line was long
and the posted wait time was ridiculous.

But then Kay spotted... it.

"Dad, can we ride the tea cups?" She innocently asked.
"Sorry, no. It'll make me feel sick." I replied.
"Awww... but I want to ride it." She reasoned.
"And if I do, then I won't be much good for the rest of the day." I continued.
"Let's ride it!" She exclaimed.
"You can ride it by yourself, then. I'm not going on that thing." I retorted.
"But it won't be any fun by myself." She wheedled.

Crap.

You already know the outcome of this, right?
I'm such a sucker.

DSC09533_zpsvctkgykd.jpg

At least there was almost no wait.
We got in line and only had to wait until the current session ended.
Kay said she wanted... I don't remember...
A particular colour of tea cup.
And since it was everything Kay wishes for comes true day,
of course we got that colour.

The last time I'd been on this ride was 10 years ago.
The scenery looked like this:

DSC09534b_zps8ueua2wg.jpg

Now it looked like this:

DSC09534_zpstalb61bn.jpg

In some ways, the scenery's changed a lot, in others, not so much.

So the first thing Kay wants to do is spin the tea cup as fast as humanly possible.
I'm not positive, but I hope her goal was to just have fun,
and not... repeat not, see how far my barf would fly across the ride.
Ha. Silly girl. If I was going to get sick, I was aiming it at her.

Kay would start to spin the wheel, I'd let her go for a bit...
then dig in and turn it in the opposite direction.
Effectively braking the spin.
She'd yell/scream "Noooo!!!" and start to rapidly spin it in that direction.
I'd let her build up some momentum and.... Brake!!!!
"Nooo!!!!!"
We kept doing that and we were killing ourselves laughing.
The ride ended... a lot sooner than I expected.

Well I'll be darned.
I actually had fun on it and didn't feel even a little woozy.
Kay says it's because you have to keep your eyes inside the cup and not look outside.
She may be right, since I was concentrating on her and the wheel the whole time.

Either way, although I really didn't want to ride it,
it turned out to be one of my favourite moments.

Who knew?

We still had gobs of time before our 7DMT FP time
and it was my turn to pick something.
I deserved it for going on the tea cups.
She actually agreed.
I said. "Let's go see if Ariel is in."
So we trooped over to Ariel's grotto.
I checked the wait time and it wasn't long.
Maybe 10 minutes? 15 minutes?
So we got in line.
And then we stood in the same spot behind a bunch of other people...
for about 10 minutes.
We didn't budge an inch.
And did I mention it was hot?
Kay looked at me and wisely (desperately?) said.
"Can we Fastpass this? This line isn't moving!"

I didn't know if we'd be able to or not,
but I sure didn't feel like waiting any longer.
Certainly not to see a character.
Even (Gasp!) Ariel.

We left the line and checked next door at her ride.
Posted wait time of 5 minutes.

Let's go!

I don't know if there's more air conditioning in there,
or if it's just the fact that we kept moving.
But it seemed cooler in this line than Ariel's meet n' greet line.

DSC09541_zps4smvk4ki.jpg

I really didn't know quite what to expect from this ride.
I'd seen a few pictures here and there, but never been on it.
So for those of you who have also never been,
or for those of you who were confused,
or have forgotten...
Allow me to be your guide on this undersea journey...

Our ride begins with Ariel having discovered something new from above the waves.
The other fish, knowing darned well what she's found decide to have some fun with her...

DSC09542_zpsxytyclce.jpg

Ariel, being totally clueless, is very happy with her little statue.
The fish, being not dense, tell her it's actually an ornate flask,
but tell her it's filled with a magical wishing potion.
Of course it's actually filled with 80 proof vodka...

DSC09543_zpsfckhcgmf.jpg

Ariel, being not the brightest bioluminescent fish in the sea,
drinks it down and gets totally plastered, as seen below...

DSC09544_zpspdrwp6sq.jpg

So Ariel, totally hammered, decides that she really, really
likes this "potion" and wants more.
But to get more, she's gotta have legs.
Because what self-respecting guy is gonna buy a drink
for a chick with a fin instead of legs? Am I right?

Yeah, I would. But I said "self-respecting"...

DSC09549_zpszrgrhk8u.jpg

Eventually, Ariel sobers up enough to actually think straight.
Or as straight as she possibly can.
(Poor thing. If she spent less time finding trinkets
and more time schooling with the other fish she'd be smarter.)
She figures if anyone would know about getting extra limbs, it would be an octopus.
I mean, they've got a ton of them, right?...

DSC09550_zpsn614rbn0.jpg

So she goes and visits her kindly Aunt, Ursula.
Ursula agrees that if she really wants to get schnozzed on a regular basis,
the surface is where it's at.
She warns Ariel that if she wants legs, she can have 'em.
But it'll cause short term laryngitis.
Ariel agrees to pay the price and gets legs.
Nearly drowns, 'cause she's underwater, but still.
She's got legs...

DSC09553_zpsdyk00yar.jpg

When she gets up to the surface, she realizes that she's been tricked.
While she was expecting the laryngitis,
she didn't expect that to get some vodka, she'd have to have money.
So she latches on to the first dude that wanders by and she tries to seduce him...

DSC09558_zpswpgylgct.jpg

Unfortunately, the first dude she sees is about as dense as she is.
So even though she's throwing every trick in the book at him,
the guy doesn't clue in that she wants him to kiss her.
This, of course, is every male on the planet in a nutshell.
If you don't come right out and say "Hey stupid! Kiss me!"
we just aren't going to get it.
But she's got laryngitis, remember?
Anyway, the guy finally clues in and thinks he's Don Juan,
while she's thinking "Finally!"...

DSC09559_zpsr5t4wy8x.jpg

But then who shows up to ruin everything?
Dad!
Because that's what Dads do.
Prevent boys from kissing their daughters, of course...

DSC09560_zpssozcv1yl.jpg

So Dad says, "Hold it right there bud! That's my kid you're putting the moves on!"
He tells the poor schmuck that if he wants to snog with his kid,
he's going to have to marry her first.
Otherwise he's going to take this trident and stick it right up his, uh...

He brandishes his trident menacingly! :rolleyes2

DSC09561_zps6fwrt45u.jpg

So naturally, one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know,
the poor sap is roped into a wedding with a girl he hardly knows.
I mean, look at his face!
If that's not apprehension mixed with doubt and apprehension,
covered with a fake smile, I don't know what is!

DSC09562_zpsckaa27lq.jpg

Well, at least they all lived happily ever after.

At least until he finds out that she drinks like a fish.
But that's another ride.

Bonus questions, round 5!
What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?

What ride do we go on instead?

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?

Good luck!

Coming up...
You will hear of a short and sweet DISmeet!
You will be shocked at a Photo Pass picture.
You will wonder if I'm crazy... wait... You already do that.

Yay!!! Finally!!!
You really got me with your fighting on Splash!
So not fair!!! You said you weren't going to BOG!!! I call foul!!!
I want the free bonus points for whatever it is that we're supposed to say.
I'll guess the other stuff later.

Sunday August 23rd, 2015.
Wait! Wait! I need to get my feet soaking and get comfy!

popcorn::Okay I'm good! GO!popcorn::

I won't soon forget this day.
Some bad things happened.
Rut-Roh!

No one was unlawfully detained, or robbed,
or a million other things that can go wrong in
the course of everyday life.
Well that's something at least!

She got up at 8:35!
I couldn't believe it!
:cheer2:

I would exit the door, turn right to the corner,
(corner room, remember?
 I remember!!!

Are you not hanging on to every single word I type?
::yes:: I am! I am!!popcorn::popcorn::popcorn::

turn right at the corner and proceed to the middle of the
end of the wing.
I then turn left, walk down a short walkway and enter the yo-yo.
Down four flights (four.... why did it have to be four?
Wouldn't it be easier to go to the center of the building and use the elevator?

Five ducks were waddling across the intersection in single file.
Obviously, Donald, Daisy and Huey, Dewey, and Louie.
::yes:::wizard::rotfl:

She mentioned, "Wouldn't it be cool to be walking under it when a monorail passed by?"

A monorail promptly passed over us.
:wizard::thumbsup2

"I'm hungry. I want something to eat."
"Fine. As soon as we get off the ride we'll get something."
"I don't want to wait. I'm hungry now."
"Well, you'll just have to wait."
"I want something now! This ride is stupid!"
I believe I had similar conversations with Little MIss at least 3 times today.

Kay had some Shi Jo King and I had the Hai Am Ki Ding
:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

We cranked up our tunes and headed in to face the ultimate evil.
:rolleyes2 Over dramatic much?

I pointed out the tombstone of Madame Leota so Kay could watch it do its thing.
She was very excited when she saw her move and open her eyes.
You know I've yet to actually catch this in action.

Kay says it's because you have to keep your eyes inside the cup and not look outside.
There maybe something to that.

Allow me to be your guide on this undersea journey...

You had both DH and in stitches of laughter with this!!!

Because that's what Dads do.
Prevent boys from kissing their daughters, of course...

DH: " ABSOLUTELY!!" ::yes::

Gracefulskinny - 3 points for melting butter. 2 points for guessing Kay's IASW wish.
:rotfl2::thumbsup2

Gracefulskinny – 39 points
Nearing the top but not there yet.

What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?
:scratchin Space Mountain

What ride do we go on instead?
Peoplemover

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?
Nope. I don't think they exist for her.

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?
:scratchin The Plaza (I get it right eventually right? :rotfl:)

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?
Ohana

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?
Nope you watch Wishes from the resort that you eat dinner at. (If I'm right about ohana you go down and watch from the beach.)

Oh, you really got me. I was feeling so helpless for you with this girl who clearly got up on the wrong side if the bed, or something like that :rotfl2:The Chinese food gag is epic! With the way this photo posted, it looks like the lady in the pink is looking down at someone else who is eating Chinese
"Chinese Food day in the park."

You DID ride IASW, but I see tea cups was even worse. I'm glad you didn't get sick. So much fun making that memory with your girl

Pretty sneaky of you to get that ADR for BOG happy for you, though.

Guesses:

1. Jungle cruise is closed so you ride Pirates, because Pirates.
2. No FP for Ariel because you used it for BTMRR in the far instead.
3. ADR at the Plaza because Cheeses teak
4. No Wishes, you have an ADR and a DISmeet
5. Your third ADR must be for dessert, so I will say a No Way Jose at Beaches N Cream because peanut butter

Fun chapter, and I am thrilled to be in the middle of the pack. :goodvibes

ETA: You know, Cheeses teak is kind of like Cheese Steak except it is a little chewier

Screen-Shot-2014-05-20-at-2.53.57-PM.png

Apparently so…

Sunday August 23rd, 2015.
I won't soon forget this day.
Some bad things happened.
Spanish-inquisition.png

But I dutifully slammed a pillow down on her head around 8:30.
Pillow Fight!!!!

We may have to make note of this actually.
It is known and accepted that July 24th is National Whack Scotty with a Pillow Day (just check with Captain Oblivious on that one, he’ll confirm the designation). So the question is, should we all now be celebrating August 23rd as National Whack Kay with a Pillow Day?

She got up at 8:35!
I couldn't believe it!
Maybe being in WDW has a restorative effect on human sleep cycles.
Even exhaustion runs in terror when confronted by the Disney Effect!

corner room, remember?
Yes… yes I do.
4th floor, building 5 (nice spot, but not near the elevators)

(four.... why did it have to be four?),
“Yo-Yo’s… very dangerous. You go first”
(Ok, I may be paraphrasing here)

Confused?
Nope.

Still nope.

Then my work here is done.
Not so fast mister, you best get busy with the rest of the update.

Err…. I mean…

Why thank you oh great and wise purveyor of truths and knowledge.
Pray please continue to edify our starving minds with your generously relinquished pearls of wisdom.

Five ducks were waddling across the intersection in single file.
spockfascinating.jpg

It was hilarious.
I only regret that I hadn't brought my camera or iPod with me.
Too bad… that video would have lite up the YouTube-averse.

I refilled our mugs and popped back up to our room
(Still four flights? Yep...)
And the count now stands at 6 to 2

While Kay was busy making herself beautiful,
well, more beautiful I suppose,
And obviously you’d be supposing correctly.

As we casually strolled towards the entrance,
Kay began to be showered with Pixie dust.
68101642818cafb4013cdfc46c6df2fa.gif

Interestingly…
no one ever discusses just what Tinkerbelle thinks of this whole spreading pixie dust thing.

"But can I bring in my nunchucks and thermonuclear device?"
"Those are fine sir, as long as the nunchucks don't extend."
Oh good…
You know that I just can’t travel without my thermonuclear device.

And soon approached!...

Splash! And walked right on by it since our FP was for BTMRR.
Certainly the way I’d have played it.
One should make a point to ride BTMRR early and often.

I'm always throwing out a poor pun or weak joke as I think of them.
Kay refers to them as "Dad jokes".
Nice turn of phrase on the young lady’s part there; may have to appropriate that one.

And then she said she wanted to get off.
Ummmmmm…

Kay had some Shi Jo King and I had the Hai Am Ki Ding
picard_clapping.gif

Nice Dad Joke; you had me going for a moment or two there.

we had another Fastpass that was due, so we made our way over to PP.
Should’a figured that one considering how much you enjoy it.

Last trip, I had ridden IASW. Which is admittedly my least liked ride in all of Disney.
But I rode it while blaring ACDC and Aerosmith into my skull.
Well, she wanted to try it too.
I did call that one though.

Kay listened to some Ghosttown, Linkin Park and Three Days Grace.
Nice…

I started off with some classic Who.
But the classics rule in this scenario.

We survived. Unscathed.
My God, we are brave people.
Yes you are

Are you not in awe??
I most certainly am.
There is not a scale devised that can competently measure the amount of awe that I am currently overwhelmed by. The English language fails miserably to even supply a word or collection of phrases which are by any stretch of the imagination even remotely capable of expressing the all-encompassing sensation. Words are just completely useless here.

(Other than for the purpose of garnering a point or two, of course.)

since I had mentioned previously that I did not get an ADR for BOG.
I didn't know if anyone remembered that or not,
I did.
That’s what drove my choices this round.
(Silly me…)

I pointed out the tombstone of Madame Leota so Kay could watch it do its thing.
She was very excited when she saw her move and open her eyes.
That just never gets old.

"Please hurry. There's no time to kill."
Kay quickly piped up in my ear, "Dad jokes for the dead."
:rotfl2:

I just about killed myself laughing.
Well there is an opening, so at least they would have had room for you.

"Hey! Wait a second! You said you didn't get an ADR for BOG!
What gives?!? We want our money back!"
Clearly, I should have read the fine print on this one.

I never did get an ADR for the Wishes Dessert Party.
We’ve done it. It’s nice and all, but not what I’d call an absolute must if I were to be honest.

“He's An Ugly Little Spud Isn't He?. “

You already know the outcome of this, right?
I'm such a sucker.
We’re all suckers when it comes to our kids.

An absolutely brilliant pair of pictures, there.
Words actually “do” fail here.

it turned out to be one of my favourite moments.

Who knew?
Truth be told, I’m not really surprised one bit.

Ariel, being not the brightest bioluminescent fish in the sea,
drinks it down and gets totally plastered, as seen below...
Yep… I see it.
That picture must be what inspired this whole riff.
I do believe I like your back story better than the original.
Nice work there.

Because what self-respecting guy is gonna buy a drink
for a chick with a fin instead of legs?
Tom Hanks?

(Poor thing. If she spent less time finding trinkets
and more time schooling with the other fish she'd be smarter.)
Just one Dad joke after another…
(And I approve)

the guy doesn't clue in that she wants him to kiss her.
This, of course, is every male on the planet in a nutshell.
Ding!

I mean, look at his face!
If that's not apprehension mixed with doubt and apprehension,
covered with a fake smile, I don't know what is!
And Arial doesn’t look all enraptured about the choice either.

What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed?
POTC

What ride do we go on instead?
Jungle Cruise

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not?
I don’t think so.

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's not BOG!
So, where is it?
The Plaza (Trying that logic again - since we’re pretty sure it actually ain’t BOG this time)

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?
A Late night snack huh? How about…
Beaches and Cream

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that?
Not this time (but you’ll be back!)

Refersh my memory: If I change my bus time, do I loose points? I cant remember!

That Splash photo is awesome!!! I have never ridden that ride, yet... I HATE being in wet clothes, and I am so fearful I'll get DRENCHED! Maybe someday, maybe....

Sometimes my youngest (18 months old today!) will get ahold of my earbuds and "misplace" those rubbery thingys to cushion the ear. Drives me batty! I feel your pain!

What ride do we try to ride, but it's closed? Pirates of the Caribbean!

What ride do we go on instead? Aladdins Flying Carpets ( since it's close by)

Do we get a FP for Ariel? Or not? Yes, but for another day.

We do have another meal, you know.
It's in MK and it's an ADR.
And it's
not BOG!
So, where is it?
The Plaza : where you treat yourselves to treats!

We have a third ADR for later in the evening.
It's not in MK, or any park, or in DTD.
Guesses?
The Wave, because you wanted to stay close to possibly view Wishes afterwards. ( WE love The Wave! We always make it an ADR for visits.. So yummy!)

Do we stay for Wishes? Or does our ADR prevent that? No Wishes, BUT you get to view them another evening.

That recap of the Little Mermaid ride was incredible! I loved it and am choosing to adopt it as the official version of under-the-sea happenings. Vodka, tridents going "you know where"... :lmao:

Pixie Dust!pixiedust:

Either way, although I really didn't want to ride it,
it turned out to be one of my favou
What a special moment!

Of course it's actually filled with 80 proof vodka...
Ugh! Ok. I'm kind of afraid where this could lead.. :scared:
Phew! Not as bad as I thought.

Thinks of me when she's in the shower, or something like that. 3 points.
What!? Wow! Made me laugh. I think I said I was doing my daughter's hair and she was singing Small World and one of my boys begged her to STOP, which made me think of you. I'm truly flattered though. Your version is quite spicy.

No bonus points for my joke? I thought it was clever. Clever enough to get added right? Oh well, I guess I'll have to find cheesier jokes for you.:stir:

Overall, it looks like a great morning. I love BTMRR at night. My second oldest son says it's his favorite. I remember taking him on it when he was 5 at night. We had the best time. It was mine too when I was a kid.:flower:My mom is a big HM fan. Her dream when she retires is to work at that ride. :hmghost: I remembered you loving that ride and convinced myself it would be a FP for you. Drat, wrong again.

Your lunch at BOG was drool worthy. The picture you took of the balloons on a Main Street... perfection!:thumbsup2

Ok. My guesses are:
closed ride: Pirates
Alternate ride: Hmmm... Tricky. A wise man (Sir Ponzi) once told me to go with my gut. I'm going to say Jungle Cruise. (Any bonus points for sucking up?):rolleyes1
Dinner ADR: The Plaza
Yes you do get a FP for Ariel, which makes for a fun photo pass picture. I'm being optimistic. (Bonus points for positive thinking? :worship:)
3rd ADR: Beaches and Cream
You don't make Wishes tonight, but make it on another night.

I wanted to let you know how proud I am of myself for multi quoting. This would be my first time doing it as I couldn't figure it out before. I hope I do it right. I also was able to respond even after my hard night. The baby was up screaming for an hour last night and only wanted Mama. Son 1 has a blister that he "accidentally" popped after going to bed. Son 2 was up twice with a fever. My daughter woke up with a sore throat. Tylenol is my friend. On top of that I had to run to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for son 1 and son 3 decided to be a stinker and not cooperate so I could get out the door. Why you might wonder? Well he's 3. Anyone who talks about the terrible twos has never met the thundering threes. Yet here I am responding. I'm just so proud of myself! Your update was just the ticket to brighten my night!::yes::

Lucky! I'd love to see Cheap Trick!
(Assuming he gets to see them... or at least hear them?)

Oh, yes, he definitely gets to see and hear the acts. He even has a monitor in his office if he's stuck in there doing show paperwork or something. He said Cheap Trick was good, but very loud! The theater is incredibly busy, with at least one show a week (and often more). The venue is small but they book a wide variety of acts. Since the end of August he's hosted acts like Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Bob Marley's band the Wailers, Collective Soul, Delbert McClinton, Molly Ringwald doing commentary at a showing of The Breakfast Club, an awesome band I had never heard of called Here Come the Mummies (check them out on Youtube!), Ani di Franco, and several others. Coming up this week is Kansas (for 2 shows), and in the upcoming few months he's got the America's Got Talent tour, Night Ranger, Clint Black, lots of Christmas shows including Wizards of Winter, Rockapella, A John Waters Christmas, the Ten Tenors and Michael McDonald, comedy shows from Carrot Top, Craig Ferguson and Jane Lynch, and many more! Literally every time I check the show schedule online they've added acts!

Great! Not too crowded?
I've been reading a lot of threads complaining of crowds at MNSSHP.

Our party was sold out, but I have no complaints about the crowds. Granted, we don't do character meet and greets and we didn't hit the trick or treat areas, but we had no problem finding good spots to watch the parade and Hallowishes, and we didn't wait more than 20 minutes before each of them started. The Hocus Pocus show was harder to get close to, but we enjoyed it at a distance. We rode everything we wanted to ride, including 7DMT right after Hallowishes. It took us 25 minutes total to walk through the line and ride. We were asked to show our party bands multiple times throughout the night, and I only personally saw one group that didn't have them, and all they were doing was sitting at a table next to me while their kids were at one of the early dance parties. I was prepared for a much more hectic and crowded experience than we had. My favorite moment of the night was seeing the Headless Horseman, and I was blown away by all of the special music and lighting effects all over the park. Our only disappointment was that they had a technical glitch right before Celebrate the Magic and they had to cancel the show. I have to say that I think I actually enjoyed this party more than MVMCP, which I've attended twice.

De-lurking to say how much i am enjoying this TR. Been off the Dis for a while (the last trippy I read was some yahoo who drove around Niagara Falls with giant puffy tutus in his trunk!) but right now my DD is upstairs NOT SPEAKING TO ME so I have some time to enjoy myself, for a change. (....bliss...)

We went to Uni Labor Day week and nearly melted into Diagon Alley so I feel your pain. Heading back to Disney 1st week of Feb so it should be much much cooler.

Oh my! I think I forgot to mention how brave you were for enduring Small World unscathed! You truly are your daughter's knight who protected her from an army of small soldiers from across the world. :music:Will that due?:thumbsup2
